Happening to me right now too, cant say if an event is up. Been sitting here for 10 mins still cant talk.

Yep. Because of this I rarely speak in game any more. I’m afraid of getting silenced.

happening to me now too….. wasn’t even “excessively messaging” …. anyone have any idea how long this lasts…?

Also, Commanders should be out of this restriction.

Posting here to say that it looks like even now, four months after this thread started, the problem still isn’t fixed.

I’ve been getting suppressed more and more recently for sending very few chat messages, so I assume once the system’s targetted you once, it gives you less and less leeway each time. I had a brief conversation in /say chat recently, followed by me barely speaking for an hour while a few guildies were talking in /say too. When I tried to speak again, I got the “suppressed due to excessive messaging” warning – this being an hour after my last message, while none of said guildies had any kind of problem despite talking far more than me.

Tried contacting support, but they’re still saying the same thing someone posted in the first page of the thread four months ago:

Same here and I was just trying to preview items since you cant preview on the Black Lion Trading Co. window.

Bump, how are gold farmers able to copy past 12+ messages in a row and not get hit by the system, when i cant even talk to random people in /say without getting a 2 hour supress

This has been going on for months and still not fixed. This is ridiculous that you can’t communicate with people in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game. WTF is the point of this? I mean this is basic, basic, basic. If people can’t talk or communicate it’s not much of a multiplayer game now is it? Why hasn’t this been addressed?

This really needs to be sorted soon. As many have already stated, it is making it very difficult for us to find/make dungeon parties. I get that Anet doesn’t want spamming. Neither do we. But 1 hour penalty after 3 messages (in /m and /s) is just rediculous. In my opinion it would be better to have the system that counts the messages to reset every 15 minutes at the very most. So we can basically have 1 message every 5 minutes. That’s not too much to ask. And the spammers will still get caught because of the report button. Everyone’s a winner.

So it’s great that Anet does everything they can to prevent gold spammers, haven’t seen one in weeks. It’s not great that normal players have to suffer because of it. I was making some portals to the magnificent chest in LA. After 3 shouts I got blocked for who knows how long. So much for being the helpful guy….

Would like to see a response …. I mean, it has been 5 months now….

Bump. Just wanted to add my frustration and add that the developers responsible for this system should be fired. It’s already difficult enough trying to coordinate players in WvWvW or PvE events without this crap in place. When trying to direct people or give information I don’t need censoring after 3 messages.

Bump. Incredibly irritating, and there’s absolutely no reason for it. It’s a broken mechanic that instead of preventing spam, 90% of the time it prevents normal people from speaking in a channel. No other game has this, and no other game has a spamming issue. Why have it?

Bump. This is getting really annoying. Closing the game doesn’t work. Waiting 15mins doesnt’t work. What the hell you want me to do?

normally I don’t thank people enough to have this problem but with the way the queen’s gauntlet is designed, I prefer people rez me rather than running back and after doing the last boss so many times and thanking people, I am getting this message alot now.

My god Anet. Suppressed messaging for 50 minutes now… Cant lead an event if i cant talk. This needs fixed now.

This is extremely irritating. You can’t even thank people properly during an event for resurrections, so if you don’t want to be impolite, better make sure you don’t get downed more than three times in an hour or so.

I found that this also happens with mail. You can’t send two mails to the same person in a row and seeing how I was just trying to mail a friend the armor set she asked me to craft for her, this just plain stinks.

Yes they really aneted this one up. Sending items to my brother and suppressed. Great coding just great.

Is there any fix to this yet? I got suppressed today for calling out “turret” at boom boom boss, and it hasn’t go away after an hour! It completely hinder my ability to lead a blitz. Chat suppression should not last more than 60 seconds. It’s annoying enough that you can’t talk in 60s.

Bumped because still an issue. I just tried to send some a mail, sent another mail that was empty and failed and thus never got sent, then when I tried to send the third mail: “Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging.”
How is sending 3 messages excessive?

I just got muted because I was hosting a taxi group to a Tequatl event. Since the map was far from full, each time the party filled up in a second and I had to start a new one. After a couple of times the lfg was disabled for me and I couldnt even talk. Apparently this is what you get for doing someone a favour…
