Please clarify “Entangle” since I use it, I can see the icon (so I know it went off ON the person) but they still come at me full speed and the immobilize didn’t work at all.

If the icon is there, shouldn’t it have some effect?

Did you fight an engineer? The trait transmute (converting one incoming condition into a boon, 15icd) would convert the first tick of immob into swiftness and the engineer runs through the vines before the second tick comes in. That way he wouldn’t get caught. Or did you fight someone who had resistance?

No, it was a warrior.

The icon went off, and if “unblockable” means anything, then we’re all being played.

If it was a warrior there are 2 possibilities how he did that. Warriors got resistance using their healing signet. But it is very unlikely he did use it at this time. The other is he was in berserker stance. That would mean he is immune to conditions as immob and can run through the vines. I just want to show that it didn’t has to be a bug. It has to get tested.

And non blockable doesn’t mean anything, that skill can be dodged and if your skill is inflicting a condition but the enemy is immune to onditions he wouldn’t get effected by it.

But back to topi: I want to address a long known bug: rangers long bow has a muh larger effective range (more than the addressed 1500)

If unblockable doesn’t MEAN unblockable, they need to change the darn term!

Just thought I’d mention Healing Spring is still broken – still not healing the ranger pet as intended.

DANG it, that’s the FIRST thing we told them was wrong.

Does it even heal ALLIES? I haven’t seen it do it yet.

No, it doesn’t. Just tested it with a friend. Allies can trigger the trap for condition cleanse and regen, but not for the heal.

Natural Regeneration Trait (Beastmastery) also bugged. It heals the pet every 3 seconds instead of every second and the heal seems equal to the heal that applied to the Ranger before the specialization update.

With Natural Healing and no Healing Power amulet in PVP my pets were healing 189hp/3s instead of 125hp/1s as described in the tooltip.

As far as I know, Healing Spring never healed allies on the initial cast, and I’m perfectly happy with just the regen and condition removal on allies, but the pet’s missing initial heal is essential and something that all other ranger heals do. (By which I mean the pet gets the same benefits as the ranger, not less)

Below I have outlined the durations of all ranger traps.

( starting from the moment I activated the skills. +/- 1 second for user error, and 1 second for 1/2s activation + 1/2s arming time.)

Flame Trap: 1m33s
Healing Spring: 1m32s
Viper’s Nest: 1m02s
Frost Trap: 1m02s
Spike Trap: 5m02s .

Can we please have all trap durations normalized to at least 5 min, like that of Spike Trap?

We can only place one (healing spring being a bug/exception) of each trap, and they are replaced when you set the same trap elsewhere. As a result, it would be nice quality of life change to no longer have sporadically disappearing Frost Traps and Viper’s Nests.

By comparison,

Thief has:

Tripwire, a 30 second cd, 3 second knockdown trap, lasts for at least 10 minutes (I grew impatient of waiting) but is expected to last 60 minutes.

Perhaps it would be better to normalize the trap duration of all traps? 5 minutes for all ranger traps shouldn’t be to much to ask for.

Ranger bugs post 7/7 patch that still need to be addressed:

GENERAL

  • Pets missing baseline 150 stat increase to Power, Precision, Toughness, and Vitality.
  • Longbow skills receive full cooldowns when cancelled during the initial cast.
  • “Hilt Bash” (Greatsword) actual range is 220 instead of 300 (tooltip).
  • “Solar Flare” (Sun Spirit) activation time is faster than other Spirit actives.
  • Resounding Timbre does not display bonus boons on “We Heal as One” tooltip.
  • Resounding Timbre does not display bonus boons on “Strength of the Pack” tooltip.
  • “Strength of the Pack” buff on the Pet uses Lightning Reflexes’ icon.
  • Juvenile Marsh Drake selection image does not match the actual Pet.

UTILITIES

  • Healing Spring can be placed multiple times (up to 4).
  • Healing Spring does not heal the Pet or allies.
  • Healing Spring does not activate when used at full health and losing health while inside the trigger area. Player must exit then re-enter the trap area to activate.
  • Water Spirit prevents point-capture contribution when active.
  • “Sic ’Em” buff removed from the Pet after using F1-F3.

TRAITS

  • Quick Draw does not apply to “Whirling Defense” (Axe) unless the cast is cancelled.
  • Quick Draw reduces only base cooldowns by 66% and does not include other traits.
  • Light On Your Feet actual buff duration is 3s instead of 4s (tooltip).
  • Ambidexterity bonus +150 Condition Damage is negated upon teleporting or being teleported without receiving a loading screen.
  • Nature’s Vengeance reduces Spirit passive chance down to 70% when traited.
  • Natural Healing heals the pet 189hp every 3s instead of 125hp every 1s.
  • Natural Healing does not show visible green number floaters on the Pet.
  • Go For The Eyes does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.
  • Wilting Strike does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.
  • Wilting Strike does not apply to the Brown Bear [F2] command “Shake It Off.”
  • Beastly Warden does not apply to [F2] commands when the player is downed.

Note¹: Quick Draw will not take into account traits that reduce weapon skill cooldowns such as Strider’s Defense, Two-Handed Training, Lead the Wind, and Axe Training. Tested and confirmed with each trait.

Note²: Whirling Defense will not receive the Quick Draw bonus even with Quickness applied.

RANGER BUGS AND BALANCE ISSUES

Traps:
-Healing Spring still doesnt heal the pet
-Healing Spring can be stacked up to 4 times but they all activate when just 1 is triggered
-Spike trap cooldown is ridiculous for 1 second knockdown duration while thieves have a trap under 30s cooldown that has 3 second knockdown and gives 8 seconds of cripple untraited.
Make spike trap pulse knockdown or reduce its cooldown.

Spirits:
-Storm Spirit is not fixed with regard to “Moment of Purity” which should increase the daze duration
-Spirits active effects are extremely slow to activate, giving them more time to die or the potential target to escape it’s radius and they also dont triggerupon dying anymore.
-Spirits damage, healing and boon duration don’t scale with the ranger stats (crit chance/damage, power, healing, etc…) except sun spirit which also has a faster active skill animation.
-Spirit of Water is the worst heal any class ever had it procs 800 heal every 10 second and the cooldown is shared for all party members.
-Spirits cast time are to long 1/2 second would be better
-Nature Vengeance is terrible, why would boon pulse 1 sec every 3 sec? Make it 1sec every 1sec it’s already bad not great that way. If someone picks Nature Spirits and Nature Vengeance, one could expect perma stability while spirit stays alive.
-Spirit of Nature passive radius is too small, making its passive irrelevant since he cant move anymore.

Taunt:
-Taunt radius is smaller for birds bear and spiders making them all unusable if you want the taunt.

Entangle:
-Entangle isn’t an elite, blink, teleport, stealth, generic condi removal, rune that reduce condi duration ALL negate it. could be fixed easily by reducing cooldown or increasing the duration of the imoblize per pulse and also making it able to target stealthed characters and stick to the target that try to blink from it .

Weapons:
-Greatsword autoattack deals too low dmg it’s laughable could make slash and slice 1/4 cast time so that we can evade more effectively when using it while also increasing damage slightly, Counterattack is so slow everyone dodges it, hilt bash should be like maul, usable while moving and have increased range
-Sword roots you in place when autoattacking could be fixed by disabling autoattacking for this particular weapon.
-Why remove offhand training… torch is bad now and so is condi ranger in general because of that and the trap nerf remove ground targetting, should be baseline just like other classes had.
-Longbow skills all go on full cooldown when stowed, even before you shoot anything. Meaning that if your target goes behind you before you shoot point blank shot, it will stow and go on full cooldown.

Traits Placement:
-Having to chose between empathic bond or wilderness knowledge is the worst balancing choice, I’d like both, or maybe I don’t want this tree for my build at all.
But if so maybe I don’t want to have to use the brown bear or healing spring as only condi removal either since thery’re pretty bad for pvp.
-Splitblade (Axe 2) is useless for power builds but at the same time the axe trait to reduce cooldown gives you ferocity IF you wield an axe in your main hand, very weird trait. Increase this skill’s damage by 400% at least so that it’s rewarding to land all 5 on 1 target if you go zerker axe build.

Healing Spring “Trap” won’t Trigger if…

…you lay Healing Spring while you have 100% health and stay within the trap and then start taking damage. You have to exit the trap and re-enter it to trigger it w/o having 100% health (or lay it after taking damage).

Sounds like a BIG BUG to me… watch the video at the bottom of this post.

Imagine coming up on an enemy thief, for instance, and seeing him shadow refuge. So you drop Healing Spring knowing that he’s probably going to attack any second. You figure you’re gonna need HS for the cleansing and healing/regen. The problem is that it won’t trigger until you exit HS and re-enter it without full health. The enemy thief shadow steps to you and hits you with some venom turning you to stone or immobilizing you or just chilling you, and… You CANNOT get the benefits of Your Own Healing Spring because you gotta exit the kitten thing and re-enter it for it to trip, but you can’t because you’re incapacitated (you’re immobilized!!!).

In my opinion, if the Ranger is standing in his own HS trap and starts to take damage, it needs to instantly trip. He shouldn’t have to exit it and re-enter it w/o 100% health in order for it to trip or wait until he’s taking damage to drop HS.

If we aren’t traited wilderness then we don’t have a lot of choices for condi cleanse. Please change this back. Also, please let it properly heal our pets like it used to.

You guys said you were going to make things up to us with traps since you added an arming time, but HS is worse than it was before.

And if this occurred because of the fix to make it work with trapper runes, I would prefer you change it back. This is makes this heal not worth using.

Xarallei, I agree wholeheartedly! Rangers shouldn’t have to trait Wilderness Survival to have condi cleaning options because HS won’t trigger now if you have 100% health and try to use it to cleanse a condition like Chill, Immobilize or Cripple. And like you said, it does make HS less useful compared to the former way it functioned.

Anet, perhaps a solution would be to have the HS trap trigger if the Ranger (or any “friendly”) is within its ring or crosses into its ring that has less than 100% health AND/OR any kind of condition. (Imagine putting HS like it is on a rammer in WvW that just happens to have 100% health when you dropped the HS trap because the ele in your havoc is healing him too. So to get the HS trap to be useful to him, he’d have to take damage, get off the ram, exit the HS ring and re-enter it for it to trip, then get back on the ram… not really practical.

NOTE: As if right now, I got WS traited, but I’m playing around with Troll U to see how viable it is for me vs HS in its current state. Troll U is waaaaay less team friendly, but I need a heal that I can count on.

Zephyr’s Speed goes on CD if you are transformed in any way, ie moa signet, tonics, any event based transform, entering/leaving water, boss mechanics like the Legendary Archdiviner’s stun (cliffside fractal), Priest of Melandru or the Mordrem Mangler’s captivate ability (Vinewrath Assault 2nd boss).

Possible bug: Please take a look to see if fury actually works on pets. With a 20% increase to crit chance, you think it would be noticable. From limited tests, it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference, if at all.

Did some testing this morning.

  • 20 tests conducted
  • 10 without Fury & 10 with perma Fury
  • Juvenile Jaguar as pet
  • First 100 hits for each test counted
  • Beastmastery traited
  • Indestructible Golem as the target

Lowest critical hits without Fury was 38/100, highest was 54/100
Lowest critical hits with Fury was 46/100, highest was 65/100

Fury does indeed apply, but precision pet stats (as others have mentioned here and on the Ranger sub-forum) seems bugged.

And another note about healing spring, sometimes it gets dropped because people want the regen. But now we can’t do that either. Please revert this change or fix this bug. Bring back the old healing spring.

That’s odd. I get both regen and swiftness with We Heal as One and shouts traited. Not sure why it would work for some and not for others.

That’s odd. I get both regen and swiftness with We Heal as One and shouts traited. Not sure why it would work for some and not for others.

Works for me, only the tooltip is not showing regen and swiftness but if you actually use the skill, it works just fine.

Trait Ambidexterity bug in spvp, not sure about pve or wvw:
- The reduce cd works but the addition 150 condi doesnt.
- It may work when you first select the trait (or just switch to Refined Toxins/ Shared Angunish then switch back to Ambidexterity) but will go away when you’re dead then respawn.
Can someone confirm this ?

I just tested this and can confirm that this issue occurs when the player is teleported without receiving a loading screen. Respawning in PVP or using a WP that is close-by in any mode will negate the bonus condition damage from Ambidexterity – defeated or not.

Just noticed that equipping 2 pets (namely Black Widow Spider and
Jungle Spider) with “Paralyzing Venom” if you use it on one pet it will also be on cool down on the other pet after swaping.
Not sure this is expected, because each pet should have his own cooldown… as it does if they don’t have the same F2 skill.

Using Staff skill 3 in stronghold near the supplies area locks you in place after use. Only other skills that cause movement will let break free.
