The patch yesterday supposedly fixed an issue causing this item to be flagged as account bound, but the item still can’t searched for on the trading post.

I did some digging and found an instance in the past where something very similar happened with the zodiac sword. I’m not much of a coder, but I’m willing to bet it’s the same issue and requires a similar fix.

I think that’s the way ANet wants it to be. Apparently the recipes were intended to be tradable but the actual back pieces weren’t. See last patch notes; where the Grenth back piece was changed to account bound:

Fixed a bug that prevented the Shadow of Grenth back-slot item from being account bound as intended.

I’ve read the topic, did you? I know perfectly well that OP is about the recipe but my post was a reaction to someone who thought the actual crafted item needed fixing as well. Which seems not to be the case.

This needs to be fixed immediately. I’m tired of seeing all these scammers in LA map chat saying their recipes are the only ones available and charging 5g+ for these when there are plenty available on the TP that can only be found if you have one in your inventory and using the “buy more” feature.
