The skill challenge in straits of devastation in the south west corner to kill a veteran risen spectrle guard is bugged. It shows the enemy as a green npc that you can’t interact with. This is on the blackgate server and has been going on for a couple days now. Screen shot of it attached.

As a guardian equip a Staff and use the “5” key for line of warding. Line the shield up in the middle of the green circle under the NPC. If at first you don’t get it keep trying. It took me a few tries to line it up the right way.

Anything else to this? I just tried to get a guardian to do this for me and the line didn’t move him, he just stood in it.

yeah it might take a few tries to line it up. you have to line it up so that the shield icon on the skill shot fits inside the green circle under the npc after you click on the NPC. I took a picture of it…but the icon didnt show on the picture.

This isn’t a fix, this is a temporary work around that 7 out of the 8 classes in the game can’t make use of.

okay. if you must be technical….. just trying to help. it’s a “fix” in the sense that it will get you that 100% on the map when otherwise it was impossible.

I am not sure if any other class has the ability to fix this. I believe the Elemental has a wall skill as well…

I’m not asking you to justify the post or anything, I understand that you’re just trying to help people out. I just don’t believe we should have to look for ‘fixes’ in which we need to bug out bugs to make them work properly.

Agreed. It’s just this is obviously at the bottom of the barrel in regards to the devs concerns. They have much larger bugs to worry about. It sucks, but one day I’m confident they’ll fix it up.

Has anyone had this work for them at all? And has anyone tried using the Elementalist?

This skill point only works 1 time after restart server.

I have caused it to work using this method repeatedly. I have done it about 10 times today. I started charging tips to do it :P

I’m trying as ele,maybe i’m not doing it right,but doesn’t work..

Please, I beg you to fix this.
There are so many hungry players out there, just waiting for that single skill point to work, so we can get our 100%!

Confirming this works. Guardian guildy walked up, tossed a wall, unbugged it in one try. Just find a guardian to help out for world completion.

That’s depressing to hear it doesn’t work on the ele. Hopefully there are enough helpful guardians out there to help all you guys out.

If anyone on the Fort Aspenwood server needs this. Ive tried to spread the word..and if Im on I can do this for you.

I am doing it for Underworld. I’ve also saying the solution on map chat , trying to spread the word. Also , if u see me online i can do it for you.

As title says its bugged….again! Some people somehow managed to complete it on 4th of September, but after the new patch applied it has returned to a previous state – bugged. Would be nice if you make it work, arenanet! The map is very popular and there are lots of people whining about this SP. Please fix the issue once and for all.

I did this on Jade Quarry yesterday for those that came along and couldn’t trigger it. Did it for 4 groups until there was a lull. Hope they fix it soon for good.

There is a veteran orrian sword that you need to defeat to gain the skillpoint but there is no way to turn it hostile. It always remains only friendly so it cannot be defeated.

If you encounter a Guardian with a staff, they can trigger it to have the Talk option enabled. I did this for about 4 groups yesterday when I was in the area. I hope they fix this bug soon so that this wouldn’t be the only option to finish this Skill Challenge.
