lvl 33 plyr cant kill lvl 16 npc
You will notice, when you play, that your character level is set to match the level of the zone you are in, if you are of a higher level. This is to insure that all zones are viable for play, and not just a ‘walk in the park’. I believe the game is working as intended.
Check the bottom of your screen to see your adjusted level.
There is a two explanations the pop up in my mind instantly. But before that: Yes you get downgraded if you enter a low lvl zone.
First might be that you dont have proper gear. If are lvl 33 and still run your starter gear for example you will be significantly weaker than with proper gear (around lvl 30+ in this case).
Second: Did you run into a champion? People can solo champs if they have decend gear and know how to kite but if you are new to the game any champ wont be solo able for you.
Ok, thank you. I’m new to the game and still learning the interface and mechanics. And that would make the game so much more fun that each new area is challenging no matter what the level of the area or player. I’ll need to figure out how to get to the right adjusted level for the lower levels so I can beat the spider. Losing every time is a bit frustrated though, but I’m sure the developers and designers must have addressed that issue then too.
Again, thank you for your help
Steve
upgraded your gear every 5-10 levels, most of the time you can find it from completing story
also, zerk gear.
Note that some enemies are quite difficult to kill with one or two people. Especially if you’re new to the game or your equipment or traits aren’t quite up to snuff.
Don’t be surprised if anything marked “Champion” (such as the Champion Spider Queen in Metrica Province…) or with a fancy border around it’s portrait brutally murders you.
Veterans can be a bit dicey too, especially if you’re up with more than one at a time.
Also be aware that there can be enemies at some areas of a zone where the effective level transitions from one level to another. I’ve noticed several areas that exhibit this behavior, especially in Metrica Province and Brisban Wildlands.
example:
You are Effective Level 15 at the transition area to an Effective Level 20+ area.
Sometimes you can attack/aggro enemies in the EL20+ area while still at an EL15, so you are basically attacking an enemy that is several levels above your EL. You will take much higher damage from and deal much less damage to these enemies. Try to move as close to the spawn location as possible to cross this dividing area threshold so your EL will ‘flip’ to the EL of the area the enemy is from.
Take note of the red arrow I placed on the attached image:
Going from Venlin Vale (EL15) to the Koga Ruins (EL25) you can attack Fireflies that are of a much higher level than you are while still being in the EL15 side of the dividing line.
