Good evening all!

I’m going to be building a new rig this week and I’m having trouble deciding on if I want to build a 1080p or 1440p setup.

Is gw2 optimized for 1440? I’ve heard things like chat UI elements not scaling well and being hard to read.

My previous rig was a 4th gen i5 and dual GTX 760s. Reading up on current hardware a 7600k and a GTX 1060 will out perform my old setup and is very cheap to build. However I’ve been thinking about getting a GTX 1080 with the recent price drops but I don’t want to shell out the extra cash and not have a pleasant gaming experience.

Any input on how this game preforms at 1440p?

It isn’t especially optimised for it, no. OTOH, I play it at 2560 × 1440 without any particular issues, so you should be fine on a 27" or so display…

UI looks to be scaled for 1080p but 1440p might be fine on a big enough display. 2160p seems to be an issue from many.

I have a 27" 1440P monitor and don’t have any issues with the UI. It did feel small when the monitor arrived (Since I was used to a 23" 1080P monitor) but after a day or two I got used to it and now it’s great. Interface size is set to normal

The game is all right at 1440P if you have a beefy enough GPU. You’re CPU limited a lot of the time anyways, so the biggest time it will hold you back is in the open world. I usually sit at ~55-65FPS in the open world with reasonably high settings.

All of this being said, it would be worth looking at a 480 if you’re considering a 1060, which card is better pretty much comes down to which games you play
