Im going to download the game on my mac, but I have some concerns regarding my mac’s operation system. What do you guys think, will the game run on my mac with operation system like mine? Will it go smooth? I only care about PVP, dungeons and raids. I don’t do WWW much… So here is my mac’s system.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)
OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

It barely meets the minimum specs, which means you’ll have a crappy experience all across the game with very bad framerate.

Ansau – Sylvari Mesmer – Exiled Warriors [wE] – Gandara

i7 5775c @ 4.1GHz – 12GB RAM @ 2400MHz – RX 480 @ 1390/2140MHz

The Operating System is fine, I think your main issue will be your processor.

Hi there,

I play on a macbook too. The specs of my MacBook are slightly better as it is a more recent model.

My specs:

MacBook Pro (late 2011)
Processor: 2,4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

I’ve got to be honest, it’s not great. The game is playable on low settings, but the loading times are long. It’s never bothered me much but it certainly affects your overall experience. If you have the option of playing Gw2 on a better computer, I’d recommend that.

Hope this helps.

Like others have said,

You’ll struggle to get the full experience of what a Mac can offer gaming and what Guild Wars 2 can offer as a whole;

If the MacBook is just a casual approach to gaming and you can play Guild Wars 2 on a pc or more focused system I’d recommend doing that for all your main Fractal, Raiding of such content.

Personally unless I’m just doing some map completion or Daily Achievements i’ll game on my dedicated Gaming PC in 4K.

Otherwise if I’m just fancying doing my dailies or exploring maps for completion and would like to chill out with the TV in front of me I pull my Retina MB out.

Now my MacBook is a mid 2015 Retina 15’ system, 2.2Ghz i7 Quad Core, 16gb DDR3 Ram, 1536mb Iris Pro Graphics (yes i bought the entry 15").

On low settings with Medium Textures and Normal Sampling at 2048 × 1280 resolution i get on average between 20-40FPS depending on location. So I wouldn’t buy a Mac for focused gaming. Stick to PC for that a lot better support for your hardware over there.

Control wise it doesn’t feel as precise as a Windows machine. Even if you use a mouse with your Mac. Personally I much prefer gaming keyboards and mice.

Granted most people buy Macs for productivity and pure kitten appeal. Hell i did. Great for ALOT of things but gaming just isn’t one (yet).

I Don’t Main, 100% Alt

I also play on a Macbook!

The Specs for my Mac are below:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.4
Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Currently My Macbook under OSX can run consistently at 60 fps at areas like Kessex Hills with Medium High settings, whereas other locations like any fractal runs me at 20-25 fps, and Verdant Brink runs me at20 fps with the same settings.

However, I frequently find my client crashing during Meta Events such as Dragon’s Stand Tequatl the Sunless, or even just from playing with no Meta events for an extended period of time(Roughly after 2-3 Hours of gaming).

Needless to say I am unsatisfied with that performance and temporarily switch to Windows 8 via bootcamp on my Mac(Until ANet makes the Mac Client tolerable..)

Via bootcamp, I can run Guild Wars at a noticeably more consistent fps while also running at medium-high settings with the Graphics options on that aren’t available on Mac.

I also have NEVER experienced Crashes on the Windows Client for Mac(64-bit).
It sucks though, Windows 8 while idle causes my Mac to start heating up very quickly.

I long for the day I can run Guild Wars on a Mac Client that is fully integrated with Apple’s operating system. That way I can see what Guild Wars 2 paired with my mac are graphically capable of.

Definitely don’t expect anything good, but the game should be playable.

Here’s my specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
OSX El Capitan
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

I run anywhere from 20-40 FPS on average. HoT can sometimes push it down to 20-30 and, at times 5-15. I tried running it on Boot Camp, but felt barely any difference and not worth the entire boot drive for it. I probably screwed something up in the driver process, because it really did just feel worse or the same as my Mac client, so I went back and bit the bullet.

I also long for the day when I can run GW2 on a Mac Client without issue. Mike hasn’t spoken about it at all, but I’d like to know how large the dedicated Mac team is, and where their patch notes and list of improvements are. As of now, it feels to me that the GW2 Mac team is on maintenance only, maybe 2-3 people tops and they’re just handling basic client maintenance and no improved optimization.

Right so the actual current Mac client has no team at all as it were – it was made by a company called TransGaming who since sold their tech to Nvidia who haven’t updated it at all since.

The new Mac client? No idea. I guess we’ll know when it’s done.
