Amazon.com and resellers
Excluded from what? Being authorized? Depends on the retailer. You can check the full list of authorized retailers via the ‘Shop’ link.
Good luck.

If Amazon.com is an authorized digital reseller, but the retailers working with amazon that sell physical products are not, it should be noted specifically on the GW2 site that physical resale companies selling through Amazon.com may not be authorized box resale companies.
Fortunately I didn’t fall into that trap, but I did notice it was there. I wonder how many people have been ripped off thinking that the resellers via Amazon.com are legitimate when in fact they are not.
One would only be ‘ripped off’ if the key said retailers sold was/is not valid. Nothing forces one to purchase from an authorized retailer. The difference is authorized retailers are known to sell authentic keys. Others may, or may not, sell authentic keys.
Unless one purchases directly from ArenaNet, any refunds will have to be discussed with the retailer, authorized or not.
FWIW, I’d expect that buying a new physical boxed copy of GW2 on Amazon, even from a third party vendor, would be fine. I mean, check the terms Amazon have for the sale and especially the refund, but … one reason I trust Amazon for stuff is that they are pretty much “had a problem? here is your money back, no fuss.” about things going wrong.
Amazon, as a company, have a solid interest in making sure that things sold through their site are legit — because if people don’t trust them, they don’t buy from them, and Amazon is all about you buying stuff from them.
If there are unauthorized sellers on Amazon’s site, report the seller to Amazon and they handle it. They are very good with that. Otherwise, it’s really easy to tell if it’s actually Amazon selling a product, or someone using Amazon’s site to sell a product.
