my account storm officer.1028 was banned tonight. Went to WvW to craft a few things on my ranger and went to sleep before turning off gw2. Woke up with a ban for botting or using 3rd party programs to stay on. Sent support ticket (796115) and its slow as usual can someone check this out for me , I’m Missing dragon’s reach.

My primary account can no longer access the game as well. I did not, however, receive an email or any communication stating I was banned for botting. I have, however, been reading threads and it appears harvesting too much foxfire clusters and selling for profit (for me over 200g) has produced bans.

My question to you, did your account get turned to Trial? That’s what happened to me, though as I’ve stated I didn’t receive any communication from anet.

Me and a friend were playing earlier today going through the living story stuff and in the middle a of a mission he just disappeared. Turns out he was banned for botting, apparently permanently.

He’s also been farming the Foxfire Clusters like crazy since they were a good source of gold! He’s never used a bot or anything.

He’s submit a ticket about it but has yet to hear anything back. Have a lot of people seen the same thing happen since the foxfires were found to be profitable?

It cant be for that. I always though people get auto disconnected after a few minutes of afking in WvW? its always happened to me.

CS will address your ticket in the order it was received. Nothing can be done from the forum, and, as such, these kinds of threads are frowned upon.

If you have heard nothing after 72 hours, you can post your ticket number in the appropriate Sticky above.

I’m rather suprised Anet has no official sticky to point people who have been banned for simply farming foxfire in the right direction to help em on offical forums.

As it turns out their system isn’t waterproof and a lot of legit players got hit, at least on reddit a post was made to point people to the right direction.

Another suprising factor perhaps is that while they made so many mistakes in this case they do choose for a case by case solution rather then reban on all those effected since the foxfire farm, while this means some actual botters will also get away with it for now it also means no innocent players are harmed and they could actually play again rather then have to enjoy their time-out for simply playing the game and wait till someone views their ticket.

PS: Does anyone know if it’s save for people to legit farm foxfire currently or will the botbanhammer still take innocent victems along the way if they do so?

I didn’t realize I wasn’t the only one. Now I feel bad for sending Anet a nasty email. I am using my sons account but they Banned my account for botting and I took offense to it. Are they going to be fixing this issue? Can anybody confirm?

Its probably because a case by case basis doesn’t allow some botters to slip through, is precisely the reason they do it. Killing bots with a giant ban-napalm bomb seems to be alright even if there’s a few casualties, because they can be (normally) saved after the fact.

I don’t check reddit but I can honestly say that the approach they are taking isn’t good for customer service. And this is not to say that GW2 customer service is great to begin with. Anybody have a link to whats being done about this situation or what we need to address if anything?

This thread is for tickets with no response after 72 hours, or for tickets wanting a final review after corresponding back and forth with CS only.

You need only submit one ticket and wait for CS to address your issue. Posting on the forums won’t speed up the process as CS is already aware of the issue.

I’m a firm believer in making sure you are heard and getting things resolved, especially if you are a victim, even if it doesn’t speed up the process.

If there wasn’t a definite time and it was just after a decent amount of time, people would make their ticket, what an hour and then post in the thread. And others would post immediately knowing that the chances are a decent amount of time would have passed by the time Gaile looks at the thread.

The time frame is based on the average wait time for a response and has in the past been increased for some issues if there is a higher than average number of those tickets. That’s not to say 3 days is the average wait time, but the average wait time does factor into when they want people without a response to post for a review.

It’s been six hours since I submitted the ticket, but same, still waiting. I didn’t even know gathering /could/ be botted. The account is [x] – I honestly don’t know how I got banned. Appreciate the hard work, support has always been really nice and helpful to me before but… this is really mortifying.

Update on this situation:

Last night, we had a few false-positives that resulted in temporary account closures. This situation impacted an extremely small number of accounts, but for those who were impacted, we are very sorry that this took place. All accounts involved in this situation were reinstated within 4 hours, and all accounts should be good to go now.

I suggest that you might want to check the game to see if you can log in, too. If not, then your particular situation is different and you can rest assured your ticket will be reviewed and responded to as soon as possible. If you have not had a resolution after three days, please feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread and we’ll take a look.

This might sound a bit stupid but i think considering the amount of your customers involved we should have been treated fairly. what i mean by that is that i understand this came from farming nodes which i was doing with 3 of my guildies last night and all 4 of us got a ban today, all of our accounts are active now, however, one of us got the ‘special item delivery’ message which contained the heroic chest and the letter with 4k influence in it, i received the ‘welcome to tyria’ message which contained ONLY the letter of influence (which is a stupid compensation if you ask me as i could not care less about influence, heroic chest i would take gladly as i still need 2 of the armor skins unlocked) and my other 2 guildies didnt even get anything apparently. wouldnt it be fair to treat us all equally and give the same compensation? this might sound a bit shallow but im sure you can understand my unhappiness.

Hi. I’m happy to explain this: Occasionally, when we reinstate an account that does not already have the Heroic Edition features, the items related to that version of the game were sent to that account holder. We’re not sending gifts or compensation or anything of that nature related to this incident. But that may explain why you are noting what appears to be a reinstatement disparity in the accounts.
