Can't patch new build.
Also having the same issue. Patched fine earlier but the second update never even makes it to the launcher. Says it downloads a couple MB (at <40KB/s) then goes to 0KB/s for a few minutes before reaching Connection error detected, retrying…
some here, but I never even got the first build. wait.. it just started to work, guess you just have to wait for a bit, (was 5+ minutes for me )
I’m having the same issue. “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” every time I try to dl the latest patch.

Have been trying for about an hour and a half, still no luck.
It makes sense you have thousands of people trying to download and it is causing issues. How do you expect them to fix this.
Was this happening earlier in the day? Maybe its the surge of people getting of work around this time.
Same here. I downloaded the big patch but since the small bug fixes haven’t been able to open the client to initiate download. At first I wondered if this was a Mac client issue but perhaps not.
Same.. I’m on windows, so I’m guessing this is for everyone. My friend next door did it with no issue, but he did it while the game had just updated. GW2 please fix your stuff.
Having the same issue on Windows 7. Not sure why. The connection per second seems to jump up really high, then rapidly fall to zero.
I just did this and it worked for this IP
Right click Guild Wars 2 Shortcut go to properties
In Target field after Gw2.exe" put a space and add -assetsrv 151.249.89.209:80
Ex. “E:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 151.249.89.209:80
Run in administrater mode
Hit apply and ok
Launch
You can Remove what you did in the shorcut after the download.
If those IP’s don’t work try each one of these.

With BitTorrent.
Fixed it. The list of download servers at http://gw2status.de/ shows that many of them are down. I used the -assetsrv launch command to change the download server manually until one worked (194.25.94.187:80 worked for me).
Right click on your GW2 shortcut and add “-assetsrv xxx.xx.xx.xxx:80” where the x’s are replaced by one of the working servers.

Edit: woops too slow

If you really want them to change their download process in the launcher. Let’s see if they have the time for that.
Confirmed that -assetsrv works! Where did you find this info?

WOW. This made a huge difference; I got up and running in the amount of time it’s taken me to write this reply. Let’s get a few other people to try and respond with their results. We may have found the solution!
Any idea if this works for a mac as well?
