Guild Wars 2

Despite GW2 running okay for me for the most part there are two issues that I hope someone could explain to me/help me with:

1) So frequently while playing the game it will run relatively smooth for about 5-10 seconds and then for a brief interval (say 2-3 seconds) the framerate will drop low. This happens basically everywhere (though much worse in busier places). I’m confused as to why it happens like this instead of having a constant high or low fps.

2) Lately I’ve been having some pretty rough load times. Some times it may take up to 30 seconds or so to load a single map (again it’s worse in busier maps). Again, the loading isn’t really consistent for each map which seems kind of strange to me.

Saying this, I have a pretty decent Laptop (yes, laptop) which is only about 2 years old. It’s a Dell Alienware M14x for those familiar with the brand. I’m not sure what I can possibly to do remedy the issues. Changing graphics settings doesn’t really affect these issues since the FPS is pretty much the same regardless if I play on higher or lower graphical quality. Any help would be appreciated.

My SWAG is thermal throttling. Check your CPU and GPU temps. Utilities like coretemp and GPU-Z can be used.
