Still crashing and almost at wits end. If there was a GRACE PERIOD of around 5 minutes to get back into the instance I was in, I would not be so upset. But as of such, the moment I crash my spot is instantly filled by a new player. Thanks mega server! This needs to be changed imo. Blizz did some thing similiar; they allow you around 5-10 mins or so to relog to client and get immedietly back in without having to wait in line again. I’d like to see some thing similiar done here.

Also be nice if they fixed these darned OOM problems but I doubt they will, it seems to be a feature with GW2 to crash. Heck I watch that Wooden Potatoe dude and he crashed right at the end of an important event too so I guess it’s not just me getting affected by this. :S

I’m seeing OOM every 20~90 minutes. This issue started with HOT. This is frustrating, to say the least. As others have pointed out, with Mega-servers, once you crash, your spot is lost. So you lose time, effort, potential rewards, and you’re often blocked from certain perks of a win, like getting the HP below Tarir. It’s not just an issue of inconvenience, this is blocking progress for some.

My game client has been crashing since HoT. It was predominantly in WvW, with rest including Heart of Mist being fine. Then it started in Heart of Mists as well. The game is fine in starting areas though.

Just to stay on topic:
This is about the constant crashes and has nothing to do with the server being down. I hope the people that had issues with the server can play again. But there are still a lot of people that can’t properly play GW2 even when the servers act normal again.
Those OOM crashes keep appearing minutes after logging in, and it would be really great to see ArenaNet replying to this post.

I created a second post about this issue, and today ArenaNet merged that post with this one (without saying anything to me). So I know that it’s being read, but why is nobody from the company communicating with us. A small ‘sorry, we’re looking into it’ would be so great already.

Yesterday I was on the edge of buying a new (64bit) OS, but now I have doubts again if this will actually solve anything… I’m full with doubts, and I need an expert, PREFERABLY from ArenaNet to come with a REAL solution.

- Unable to play GW2 properly ever since HoT launched because of crashing the minute I login…

I have been tolled this is an ArenaNet problem, a memory leak or something my friend told me.

Yesterday I was on the edge of buying a new (64bit) OS, but now I have doubts again if this will actually solve anything… I’m full with doubts, and I need an expert, PREFERABLY from ArenaNet to come with a REAL solution.

Upgrading to a 64-bit OS will not simply get rid of the OOM errors. They will still occur, but it will be less frequently. I for example crash every hour or so while playing in the new zones. The more I run around the zone, the more frequent it becomes. Gliding high up over everything for example seems to hurt the most.

You can try a 64-bit OS if you want. You’ll just need a empty drive or partition to temporarily install it, unless you just want to wipe your current OS. You can download an evaluation at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows

-Repair. Done.
-Uninstalled, deleted. Downloaded, reinstalled all the files. Done.
-Memcheck. Done.
Minimal settings check. Done.
Admin settings, compatibility mode, no windows autostart programs, optimal windows services.

Nothing works. I used to crash perhaps once-twice a day before HoTs launch, now I crash every 5-10 minutes and that’s a low/diplomatic estimate.
What’s the next step?

Oh for the love of biscuits! I was in a personal story instance, when I get the “a serious error has occurred” message and get kicked from the game. Had to reboot my pc, as I couldn’t clear it.

I am not attempting raiding until this increasingly annoying problem is sorted out.

OOM: DxBuffer (type:static) (pool:9) (size:2005568),

OSVersion: Windows 6.1 (32 bit)

Your main problem is you still use ancient 32-Bit Windows that can only handle
2 GB of memory per application. The only real fix would be to install a 64-Bit version.

Else you can only set down all your graphics settings to minimum and look if that helps.

Same thing applies to you.

I can also add to this. Crashing on every event with lots of people in a certain vicinity. Crashed on all dragon stand events today, even crashed on tt wurm in bloodtide coast for an hour ago. This could never happen at this rate pre HoT, we’re talking a few times per event. Im not sure it has to do with amount of people either, its just frustrating

I have been playing since GW2 launch with my settings on max with not a single problem ever.

Now with HoT my game crashes roughly every two hours, it seems to happen in highly dense player areas such as Auric Basin, it also happened during Mad King says.

I am also getting some weird graphical bugs, for example my back item Wings of Dwayna randomly disappears sometimes, today my weapon on my back disappeared.

I have played in highly populated areas with not a single problem for years, i was even stable during that big one time Karka event near launch.

Please help?

Exactly the same problem for me.

So get this… I was having the very same issues described above…So I had an extra character slot unused, used it to create a new character, and I was able to log in! So Immediately after it loaded, I exited to switch characters and it let me in. Try that and see if it works!

If u searching for problems, its gw2 32 bit client. Even if u use 64 bit os client still runing on 32. U can open ur os task manager, then processes and u will see: GW2.exe*32.
Yes ppl with 32 bit os have even more problems with crashes coz game have even less ram. But u game will crash with 64 bit os to, but not so often. On high setting game need more memory than client 32 can use.
And this problem here for a long time, i noticed it on scarlet LA invasion. Btw anet fix it by split zerg on 3 knights with auras 50 mans per one. And they split scarlet battles on 3 parts, and jungle worm. And they trying to split all zergfest content on 3-5 parts so ppl dont geather in 1 point. It mean anet know what the problem, but they cant or dont want solve it by game side. So they trying solve it with events organization. Now we have lager maps and problem become more visible. What anet going to do with it? Who know. But support dont help u with this issue, they will blame ur anitivirus, skype, browser, mice drivers till u give up and close ticket.
Ofc i can be wrong but…

Every time I see “Fixed a Client Crash Bug” in the update notes I prepare to start crashing even more. Before HoT I would crash maybe once every few months. Since HoT it is every 30-60 minutes. I love HoT, but with the constant crashing it is absolutely impossible to enjoy any content that takes time and effort. Even if I’m lucky and manage to finish the content, I’m stressed out that I might crash at any moment.

Days after the patch and I still can’t play. I will try the moderator’s advice after work but it’s not exactly these other programs directly….I watched the patch install and then was unable to play the game.

The fix I described above is for the errors containing the exception code c0000417 in it, as hcopter.3269 included in his post above.

Oh My God.8423, this c0000417 issue shouldn’t be an issue on MAC. I’ll repost when we know more about that “Failed to start Coherent host” issue, described in your post.

I’m pretty certain the problem is with your client, not something else.

Funny how these constant crashes only start appearing once HoT is released, yet you have the gaul to blame other programs.

It’s weird how I have NEVER crashed before HoT, but now since the release I’m getting OOM crashes CONSTANTLY.. At max an hour in a populated map and I’m certain that I’ll get a crash.. Of course this makes it impossible to do any of these meta-events, since I’ll lose map progress every time..

Have been an avid GW fan since GW1, but I don’t think that I’ll be going for GW3 (if ANet isn’t out of business by then), since apparently they have some people there more concerned about a release deadline than the quality of their client..

Here is a crash from me from yesterday after the patch that “fixed” client crashes:

Didn’t have crashes before HoT.

This is the worst! I can’t even do events now as soon as I crash I come back to a bad map.

it amazes me that anet hasnt said something on this issue other than, it isnt our game its your pc’s….. But yet… It started happening to almost everyone i know in game.. all at the same time.. all from the same patch.

People can play different legnths of time based on how much memory they have til they crash with the OOM error.. but EVERYONE IS GETTING IT… not just the people posting here.

People are crashing left and right.. in wvw raids all you hear is “Crap.. game crashed… in que” etc every few minutes.

In normal play, people are crashing… (even had a few guildies crash to thier bios screen.. dont even know how thats possible for a game.. but it happened) and having to reboot, not just close.

almost all if not ALL of the crashes are OOM errors… which indicates a bad memory leak in the video coding…. and most of the people crashing are running either Nvidia or Radion and they are BOTH getting OOM errors.

PLEASE FIX

Do not get a 64-bit OS just to help this. It will not.

So, as seen in This Thread there are a lot of OOM issues going on. It affects both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It seems to be focused on NVIDA cards, but we have seen error reports with other cards. I pre-purchased this expansion. I played in BW3 fine with no errors or crashing (just the usual FPS drop I expect for high activity areas like the Silverwastes). There was no indication during the beta that I would not be able to play on release.

Now I get OOM crashes, all the time. My record uptime is 1 hr, 44 mins, but that took me literally sitting idle for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

This is getting old. There are a lot of us with this issue. It did NOT happen before HOT, so it is something in the new HOT code that broke it for many low to mid and even a few high end systems based on the megathread.

Fix it ANet. Tell us what you are trying to do to fix it. Or start offering refunds.

ANet will eventually fix it in time it seems but they need more users using this thread and posts in Twitter and FB accounts so that their HoT release gets a lot more hype. Otherwise people mainly complain about class balances etc. This bug fixing probably is getting them double the hits. I don’t think that the system maintenance team of such a big MMO company can be that bad.

Every patch seems to make the crashing worse somehow. I didn’t crash too much with the initial release of HoT. Since then crashes are more and more frequent. Not sure their fixes are going in the right direction.

Considering everyone is posting their crashes here, i’ll be linking mine as well. I know this game is CPU bound and could probably be the cause for my use, however that shouldn’t really be the issue when I can run other games just as fine without crashing. Anyway here are the log.

Update with an interesting fact regarding OOM crashes:
I still crash in 1-10 minutes in every map even when i’m alone, BUT i managed (for two times) to play two hotjoin matches in a row without crashes,. The crash occurred in both cases once i got back in heart of the mists.
So..crashes in some minutes in every map being alone but you can actually play pvp using skills, passing loading screens and with people playing around.
I don’t think we need more evidence that these crashes ARE NOT related to our OS.
So..it may be that crashes are related to the Halloween part of the patch? (since well, pvp servers/arenas are not affected by it).
I still invite everyone to post in here to collect infos related just to OOM crashes, since the past discussions are full of different problems (maybe we can post on the various social networks and Reddit too).
And, of course, i’m still asking for a reply from Anet.
