Now a 64bit update has been done, does this mean that there will be no fix for the 32? Are we are doomed to be permanently crashing.

The developers say no (2nd from the bottom): https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/64-bit-Client-Beta-FAQ/page/2#post5719126

To cross-quote the 64-bit client beta launch…

This wont fix the crushses from people who don’t have a based x64 Computer, my computer is 32bit based, i can’t run x64 SO on my machine… and i have been constant crashes all day since Hot….

We haven’t forgotten about you! The release of the 64-bit client was planned unrelated to the memory-related crashes. It will take a while longer for us to get them resolved properly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Still, that’s technically only a single sentence in all of these forums from the devs regarding the 32-bit systems that were broken post HoT-release.
While, I’m genuinely glad that some 64-bit users have improved stability, that still leaves many of us unable to play at all. (Like a few others, I won’t be able to upgrade until the new year.)
I’ve submitted a crash report each time, and still hoping that helps their analysis for a permanent fix.

32-bit player here. Still waiting for a fix or atleast an ArenaNet reply.
Am I really the only one left that’s having issues?…

No, you’re not alone. Thanks for keeping the thread alive.
I too am sat, waiting for a fix. Absolutely no change in my situation; the game remains broken and will crash after 3-4 minutes.
As the third week begins ticking over without any apology, eta or updates on the client’s OOM issues (not to mention the neglected mac players), I am beginning to doubt any fixes for any of us. :C

I am also having problems with this. I’m not one to complain but quite frankly this is really ruining things for me. HoT takes darn near forever to level anything as it is, the sudden crash just before meta events end is beyond frustrating. I tried the new 64 bit client and it did absolutely nothing for me. If anything, it made things worse. My comp is a 64 bit so I’m confused as to why :/

I’m sorry guys, I’m no longer gonna keep bumping this thread.
I’m giving up. I won’t suspect a fix coming soon.
A new Hearthstone patch is coming and I’m gonna play that for a while. This game is just done for me. Much money and hours down the drain, but I can’t afford a better computer so it’s game over for me. I lost trust in ArenaNet. Big time…

This so much, HoT totally ruined, well played, when its ready… except everything is always released in a beta form and fixed at some point if we are lucky.

Il keep bumping it but im sure this is just being ignored.

Still happening, crash pretty much once every world boss. It’s definitely not my rig, I spent over 2k on it, and ran GW2 on max settings with 0 crashes or any performance issues, until HoT came out.

You spent over 2k on a your PC and it still can’t run a 64-bit OS ?

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Why are you assuming he’s on 32 bit OS?

Theres plenty of people that have been having the same crash on 64-Bit Operating Systems, myself one of them.

^This.
Because if he has a 64 bit OS, he can now simply use the 64-bit client against
OOM crashes instead of still complaining.

The build up to raids has started and some people can not spend more than 20mins in a HoT map without the dc’s, this still going to happen in raids?

I know I know.. when its ready.

I have no idea what is causing these constant crashes but I do know it’s getting worse and worse it used to be every now and then like maybe once or twice a day at realese of HoT for me, currently I will likely crash twice per hour if I stand in a low populated area doing nothing and in any kind of meta event it’s within a matter of seconds for each crash there is not even a small reason to try any of them anymore…

Anyone getting memory read/write exceptions, should scan their memory with memtest86 to ensure their memory is not faulty. While such memory reads/writes can fail for various reason on perfectly good RAM, they can also be an indication of faulty RAM. If you have faulty memory, depending on how bad it is, the x64 client will likely increase these sorts of crash rates, rather than the OOM crashes, because it will use much more memory than the x86 (32-bit) client, increasing the likelihood of writing to “bad” areas of the memory. An example of such a memory error is:

Hi, my game crashes when I try to do lvl 60 story Q in The Grove.

Here is the crash report (using 64-bit client)
—> Crash <—
Exception: c0000005
Memory at address 00000228`201d0390 could not be read
App: Gw2-64.exe

Another thing people can try is to shut down all unnecessary processes to free up as much memory as possible. Steam, Origin, Battlenet, Apple services, Adobe services, etc. They all take up memory.

You most likely have a memory problem.

This is really frustrating, no way to complete a meta event like this, I just looked at my achievements and i have 0 Tarir completes since I have never been able to stay connected long enough in a decent map to succeed.

Its the weekend so no fix for the time being, with xmas holidays approaching in the words of Trahearne “This is not going to end well”

Popping in to say I have a 64-bit machine and STILL crashed when using the 64-bit client.

Also going to throw out I’ve done recent betas that were much more CPU and GPU and RAM hogging………. and they had stable clients.

This crashing issue with a fully released game is ridiculous.

this makes no sense… constant crashing all the time. participated in a world boss event and I crash when the boss is mid to low health.

I work through the events in verdant brink and crash when the bloody wyvern’s about to die. I come back on and I am on an overflow with other crash-ees complaining about life.

This is really too much, since the start of HoT I havent been past much of the events and havent enjoyed myself at all. Should have waited for HoT expansion when a discount comes out i think it will only be fixed by then instead of wasting my money on the ultimate pack.

Since im a glutton for punishment, I thought I would give Auric Basin another go, i mean surely after 3 weeks things must be getting better…. seems not, 3 tries 3 crashes always logging into a empty map with no completion. I will know next time, not to hand over any money until the content is released and fully tried out, pre- purchase was a big mistake.

I just want to add my voice to this annoying bug. I’ve never crashed in GW2 until HoT. Now it’s usually during a world boss. I lag at least twice, then crash to the desktop.

I have noticed the last few times when lagging my sound stutters. Other times it’s just video.

It made no difference or 32 or 64bit client. I recently downloaded the 64 with the same problems.

I’m loving the expansion, but not the crashes.

I have been having the same issues. I tried the 64 bit. Horrible. Uninstalled. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled 32 bit again thinking that might be the case. I had no trouble before. Now I can’t even work on meta in maps because I tend to get a error message/crash just at the end and cannot get back in, so all that time is wasted. Getting really, really, really old…

Same here, the game is just unplayable. I tried with /repair but not working and I still have crashes. I have 64bit OS, 4GB RAM and everything worked fine till now
Edit: No program runs with GW2, only this game.. And I play on Autodetect → lowest possible settings.

Im sure this was tested like the last time…. Its like a mini game now, how long can I stay connected and can I get to where i need to go before I dc. Just add a betting system im sure that would keep us amused during all the crashes… I mean who wants to play for more than 15mins anyway.

(incase anyone did not understand, yes this was sarcasm with a big helping of frustation)

Before patch I used to be able to play for quite a while(30min to 1-2 hrs) before crashing.

After patch anywhere between 2 to 5 minutes is enough to crash. Just standing in LA near bank npc crashes after few minutes.

I am having literally the same problem. Started with this update, client crashes in few minutes. Crashed 3 times doing fractals then crashed 3 times just trying to access my bank in LA.
All this within 30 minutes of this update.

Your best bet is to upgrade your OS to 64-bit. Many Windows keys allow you to do this at no cost.

Good luck.

I’m sure they will tell us to try the 64-bit client again.
