The only thing you can do is contact her outside of the game.

ArenaNet will NOT get involved in any kind of guild-related issues.

To my knowledge, no. Afaik Anet do not involve themselves in such disputes as a matter of policy (It would open the doors to many more problems if they did), so the situation will remain as it is as I understand it

Guild names won’t be changed unless they are deemed inappropriate and have broken one of the rules. Your ex-guildmate didn’t do anything against any rules, no matter how petty and snotty her actions were. Anet stays out of guild situations unless it does break rules.

If you feel that support didn’t give an adequate response, you can keep the ticket open and point out that you already did the things they suggested. But whoever responded to you did tell you the only things you could do in this situation, I’m afraid. :\

Well, that is a personal problem, the player that “stole” your guild name is not breaking any rule and ANet said already that they can’t interfere between personal issues.
That is a thing that only you can/need to deal with.

I don’t understand one thing, Guild Initials aren’t unique. You can use your initials, I think you can even change them after the fact.

Honestly, customer support is completely correct here: this is a personal issue that has to be resolved between you and the other person, ANet can’t intervene when there’s no apparent violation of the ToS. Also I vaguely recall a post some time ago about how CS doesn’t actually have the power to change guild names, only the acronyms, so the only way you’d get the name back would be to convince them to invite you to the guild and promote you to leader anyway.

That being said, you know that you can still use the same acronym, right? Like how hundreds of different personal guilds use the [Bank] acronym without any conflicts, you can at least ask CS to change that part of your guild if you still can’t convince this other person to give you leadership.

Maybe the other person will return to playing GW2 tomorrow, invite new members and ‘rebuild’ her guild, how should Anet know? They can’t just take the guild’s name away from her, just because she’s inactive at the moment and you ask them to. She didn’t break any rules, as others have already stated.

Guild names were never reserved from GuildWars1 to 2 this was a first come first served basis who ever registered the guild name first got it. I know a lot of guilds moved over from 1 to 2 you just had to get it first if you wanted to keep it. That was the first thng I did to keep the Furious Draguns reign[FDR] in the in the group of friend that stared it back in the day but now it mostly dead and it’s my storage guild but I still have it so there is not a lot that can be done. Like must of the others have said this is an issue the support team will not get involved in Good Luck.

I really don’t blame support for not reading your ticket as it’s obvious this is an internal guild issue and they are NOT going to get involved. Not being mean, but Anet has been pretty clear about steering clear of internal Guild issues like this.

Not saying who is right or wrong, just that Anet is not going to address this kind of situation one way or another.

why…. would you want someone to give up a guild they rightfully created before your own? that’s part of the name picking/etc process, this isn’t gonna fly.

Oh they read your support ticket.

Just because the answer is “No” doesn’t mean they didn’t read it, or they gave you bad service. Sometimes, the answer is No.

First of all, this is a lot of drama and although it sucks, I honestly think holding onto a previous guild name is rather trivial. I mean, by an example, I couldn’t transfer my Guild Wars guild to Guild Wars 2 because it was a Japanese tag in Japanese. Sure we could have gone with something similar but really, what’s the point? Guild Wars 2 isn’t Guild Wars and those related achievements or honors do not carry over for guilds.

I think you are by making a big deal about this by forcing yourself into making an almost identical guild, in turn letting this person win. They are having the last laugh.

I suggest you let this whole thing go and take stock in what you do have. You have loyal members that have stuck with you due to knowing the truth. Why not pull those resources together to make something truly awesome together? Totally new? Even better than before, forever winning over this childish persons sad attempt to cause you grief?

I understand your attachment to the memory but I don’t think you or any of the guild will truly move forward so long as you keep trying to hang onto it. What they did was wrong but it is some kind of childish drama that Arena Net, rightfully will not involve themselves in. I don’t blame them honestly. When the wise thing to do would be to just move on.

Sorry if the truth is painful but that’s really the dose worth swallowing.

Best,
Van

What difference does it make now if she does do something with the guild? Are all of you going to leave the guild you’ve been working on all this time with all the accumulated memories, influence, guild vaults and upgrades to all migrate over to a barren guild, just because the other guild has a slightly different lettering in the name?

It’s in the past. It’s 3 years in the past. It’s way past time to let it go and work with the new memories you are making with this new guild. (And stop asking her as she is obviously enjoying making you ask her so she gets to say no. Don’t put yourself in those kinds of situations).

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I don’t think they want to move; they just want CS to take the other guild’s name and tag and give it to them.

Just not going to happen (ArenaNet will never get involved in guild politics), and like it has been said, it is way past time to get over it.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the posts – they were informative and more helpful than the reply I got to the ticket To clarify again, I do understand why ANet can’t get involved in guild issues, I was upset because the responses I got seemed to be pretty generic and made me feel as if they hadn’t fully read the ticket. That aside, I do appreciate the advice you’ve all given. It was for personal and sentimental reasons we wanted the tag/guild name back, I didn’t realize it was possible to change guild tags? I’ll look into that more in-game. I opened the thread mainly to see if there were any other in-game options open to me that I had missed.

Thanks again for all the feedback!

One thing not really related to your problem but to the title of the topic ..

I also didn’t read your post since that wall of text simply hurts my eyes.

So if your ticket looked the same way .. i can understand it in some way.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I don’t believe anyone can change Guild tags once chosen. What is possible is to have the same tags as other Guilds.

Good luck.
