I need help.

My computer restarts and sometimes freezes while playing Guild Wars 2, only playing Guild Wars 2. All other games work fine.

I have watched my temperatures and nothing is overheating. I have plenty of RAM and check multiple times to make sure they were fine no errors on the memory side. I changed my PSU just in case, even placed the power in a new wall socket. I tried down clocking my GPU as well nothing works. I did a clean install if the game. I even did a clean install of windows.

The game still continues to restart my computer or just plain freeze it up requiring a manual restart. Since its freezing and restarting I am getting no mini dump files.
I have tried both 64 and 32 bit clients.

Can anyone please help me.

Specs:
CPU: i7-6700k
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 ftw
16 GB RAM
250 GB SSD
PSU: Corsair RM1000i

Do me a favor, check your connection at Speedtest.net (don’t click the adds). Then start up GW2, alt tab and run a second test.

My computer freezes a bit when running speedtest while playing gw2. Somehow it’s only a download issue when receiving a lot of bandwidth… was wondering if it was the same as your issue.

Did you use the last drivers?

Have you tried the command line tools to get some more information?
Have you checked your dxdiag information or made some burn in/load tests?(Windows Key + R → run → dxdiag)

-log

Enables the creation of a log file, used mostly by Support. The path for the generated file usually is:

        Windows: %APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.log.
        macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2/Gw2.log

Note: %APPDATA% is an Environment Variable, which usually translates into C:\Users\<Your Windows Account Name>\AppData\Roaming by default. See Environment Variable.

-diag

Instead of launching the game, this command creates a detailed diagnostic file that contains diagnostic data that can be used for troubleshooting. The file, NetworkDiag.log, will be located in your game directory or "Documents\Guild Wars . If you want to use this feature, be sure to create a separate shortcut for it.

Did you only delete the GW2 folder or did you use a re-installer?
Did you delete as well your settings or did your e-mail and / or pw appears in GW2 after the reinstall?

You could try to delete this settings if this haven’t happened.
Path: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2

There you will find the GFX configuration and the login information (Local.dat).
In some posts they have had crashes with GW2 and black screens and stuff like this. After a deleting the Local.dat it works for them. But please remember, the login information will be lost.

Since you did re-install it it should work for you but you can give it a try before you delete something:

-repair

Start the client, checks the files for errors and repairs them as needed. This can take a long time (1/2 hour or an hour) to run as it checks the entire contents of the 20-30 gigabyte archive.

This is rarely necessary as the archive is always checking for errors as it runs; if it finds an error, it will schedule a repair for the next time the game starts.
The archive reads and writes certain parts of the disk fairly frequently; if you are getting a lot of disk errors, this is a sign that your drive may be dying.

Maybe this will give some hints about your issue.

guild wars 2 spaghetti code is both our problems . and it is not your hard ware or software at all on your end !!

I got the Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80648I75960X Desktop Processor myself with asus ROG motherboard and all other games play very well on it from grand theft auto to overwatch and any other SLI cross fire game not a problem at all I even get a 100 + FPS in thos games with my system but this game I at times I can only get 65 FPS . and as low as 25 FPS in LA . but when I play guild wars 2 just no fun what so ever

the fix is this went and set up a mid grade I-5 system using a Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I57600K Desktop Processor and msi motherboard . needless to say it fixed all the problems fully and I can get 70 to 80 FPS with my video card

also too I set up a AMD FX 8350 system as well which I have no problems at all with that system and playing guild wars 2 with no lag or hang ups at all and get about 70 FPS depending on what I am doing in the game

guild wars 2 spaghetti code

I fixed my issue

Had to switch a setting in my power options.
Control panel > Hardware and Sound > Power options > and choose the High performance preferred plan.

I was on Balanced(Recommended) … I feel dumb

Don’t feel dumb. I’m glad this worked for you, but it doesn’t always fix the problem. I did this and many other things over the course of fighting this issue for over 3 years. The ONLY thing that worked on my machine was to downclock the video card. Not only did it fix the crashing issues, but it improved performance in the game since I could turn graphics settings back up, unlock the framerate and install newer drivers (Which typically made the problem worse).
