Yay, can’t even patch. Now they better fix the server……. o.o
Same here, couldnt log in earlier and now cant get update.
Not very well handled for a patch. Last months was a way better release. What a difference a few weeks makes. :/
UPDATED Download has started for me. had to wait on GW2 restarting itself from errors a few times. Be patient peeps!
This build needs to go live in the AM not this late in the day so we get DL bottle neck and connection errors.
I am getting the same thing. Thought it was on my end at first until I was able to bring the forums up. ANET can we get a time frame on this getting fixed, or is it just overload and have to wait our turn. I got 21MB downloaded before it stopped.

I have the error. I also had this “We’re sorry! There was an error while retrieving the news feed. Please try again in a few minutes. Don’t worry, though, you can still play the game!”
That message occurred a good 20 minutes before the patch, I believe, certainly well before the build was released. I don’t know if it’s a connected problem. I did not try logging into the game at that time because the patch was imminent.
I tend to agree with the earlier in the day aspect but really these bottlenecks shouldn’t be happening 6 months in. The patcher issues should have been ironed out long before now.
Learn one thing from some other games, drop patches when there’s less people playing. And TELL us why we have disconnects and log in problems. They sure fixed it last time, but some information would be nice…
I’m having the same issue blah!
I also had “We’re sorry! There was an error while retrieving the news feed. Please try again in a few minutes. Don’t worry, though, you can still play the game!” about 2 hours before patch and had issues with the trading post. I am now getting connection errors intermittently when trying to download the patch.
I was playing fine around 15:00 Gmt no errors on splash screen or connection problems with trade post.

Wtb connection to patch server. pst.
It’s too bad they don’t have someone that can test patches, or a public beta server. But those things cost money, and cuts into the bottom line.
I bid 1g for patch server connection

Bottlenecked!!!
this kinda sucks, they should indeed patch at a time when there are barely players online
why cant they just use a torrent principle on the patch distribution?
would solve such issues in the future. The Client doubles as a “closed” bittorrent client… thus players seed players, less server overload (the first few minutes will always cause overload since noone has the full patch right away)
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
I’d be upset if I were paying a monthly fee to maintain my account. But I don’t so I’m not. I suppose I’ll go spend some time being productive instead.
Also having connectivity issues when opening the client.
Started to download the new patch, and the client says “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying….” Closing/reopening the client doesn’t do anything.
Seems like many people are also having this issue. I’m assuming ArenaNet knows about this and are trying their best to fix it!

The main reason I would assume, is that numerous ISP’s these days deliberately throttle down any and all torrent traffic it detects. Some even put restrictions in place that after a set time of day and data usage you are throttled down for the rest of the day. So they have you coming and going with torrents, which kills a lot of the point of torrenting updates.

Cuz everyone knows people never use the simple way out and always need to over complicate things…
^ sarcasm….
+1 on this guys advice tho… a closed torrent = win

no they throttle on the ports which are common to torrents.
If its on a shared port as the game, which the launcher can, the cable company wont throttle it.
Unless u got a really bad ISP.

As one of my favorite GMs used to say…Epic Flail!
Should I still be having connection issues? because I am.
I’m having connection error(s) still after 2 hours this is kinda getting ridiculous..
can’t even hit log in.

I am also. I too think that ArenaNet should make information like this more available. It is easier to deal with when you know whats going on.
