I have no idea what’s going on today but during Teq I had ability lag where all my abilities were literally not firing off at all leaving me there looking pretty and being useless for stretches of a minute at a shot.

After Teq ended I had problems with BLTP and DCs.

Just now I was running AC path 3 and had a recurrence of the ability lag followed by a string of DC’s.

Obviously I have internet as I’m able to post; my connection is solid as well since I’m currently streaming Netflix on my TV with no hiccups.

Cannot stay connected to the Client. Disconnects every two to three minutes. Hard to get anything accomplished when you can’t finish missions. It is not my computer or my internet connection. It is the client. Can somebody please look into it. Not enjoyable at all.

Yea your not alone, ever since the latest patch I started crashing every few mins. Before it was running fine for me and 0 problems (the odd crash once and awhile but that is normal) but after the patch, things started lagging and crash more often (like 5-15 times a day!) I even restarted my router and modem and see if that fixed it, but sadly it did not. Even a fellow guild mate of mine is having the same problem. I just hope this gets fixed soon.

Edit: tbh, this isn’t the first time this happened to me, awhile ago I had this same issue like this. It did go away on its own but still, its a pain and strips the fun away from the game and replaces it with annoyance

Experiencing all of the same problems. Horrible skill lag followed by disconnects shortly after. Error Code 7. Everything else besides GW2 runs smoothly. Streaming music, Netflix, browsing, etc. Checked to make sure the ports were open, performed winsock reset, cleared DNS cache, checked firewall, reset router, reset modem, and still having problems. I wish I had an answer. Just wanted you to know you guys aren’t alone. Here’s to hoping the problem gets resolved.

Nothing much to add but another “me too.” Skills don’t work about 75% of the time in PvP but movement, chat and everything else is fine. Either skills behave like the key wasn’t even pressed or they go on full CD without actually launching the skill. Occasionally I’ll get the pulsing skill icon bug too, where a skill looks like it’s trying to do something but actually does nothing.

This is game-breaking, Anet. If you want PvP to ever be an esport, maybe you should make sure the game works right first. I won’t even consider buying HoT unless you start a major (and public) seek-and-destroy Bug Hunt in the core game first, and I doubt I’m the only one.

NA player from the East Coast here. Ever since two days ago, I’ve had some lag in-game. My internet appears to be fine outside of the game though. I’d lag at for minutes (yes, plural) at a time and had one disconnect. There are times where everything would be teleporting around me, the skill icons would just pulse and not go off, and when I move – I get teleported back to where I was standing before as if I had never moved; all of this for minute(s) at a time. Sometimes it is just a constant 1 – 10 second skill delay. There were also people in map chat saying they are having similar problems – but there are other who are not. Perhaps it has to do with the wind in snow, but then again why is my internet outside of the game fine?

Other than that, ensure your connection is ok – it’s highly unlikely the issue is on server side alone. It might be your router settings, ports being blocked, your computer hardware/software malfunctioning or just ISP having a bad period.
Despite doing everything as linked, i still couldn’t play reliably and had to move my router much closer to the PC – seems to have helped tremendously.

Like the other people, my problems started 2 days ago. However I have yet to disconnect but the game skills will stop along with everything else, some times this latency can last for up to 30 seconds before everything goes back to normal. The latency or lag happens randomly and in any game mode be it open world, dungeons, wvw or pvp. However this only happens with guild wars 2, I have tried -repair, deleting local.dat file and a few others but I still have this issue, after doing a tracert I found no issues along the connection.

Its game breaking for pve, cant imagine for those who pvp a lot. But yea same boat, I came back to this game after getting a new PC that could handle it better and was looking to get the new expansion but…if I cant play it why waste the money on it?

I’m having this issue since the last update but im from Europe – Portugal.
Before i didnt have any problems whatsoever, but after last update im having a lot of dc for no reason.
For example i’m playing Dragon Ball perfectly and all of a sudden i had no response on the abilities and got disconnected after a few seconds. I log in as soon as i get disconnected start playing fine and happens after a few minutes. Is this a ISP problem? i dont think so, as other games don’t give me this issues.

well not much to add here but I am having this lag as well. In the past I have ran both a tracert and ping test to arena net servers 64.25.39.1, which I saved and showed no difference with the recent test of when I stated lagging. I haven’t had lag issues since I started playing this game back in 2012, no changes have been made to my internet and my lag happens all day long be it morning, prime time or midnight. Just like time, game mode does not matter pvp, pve and wvw all lag.

Some of my friends have suffer from this in the past 5 days however most have already stop having this lag or latency issue. Yet for me it just keeps getting worse and worse to the point the I only log in to get my log in rewards. It often feels as if the game is actively trying to disconnect you, as it will either lag skills or just everything in general and than disconnect you with a error or just lag for up to a minute sometimes. Yet everything else works such as chat and trading post.

EDIT: So far I only have issues with guild wars 2, I play other games on steam as well as final fantasy 14 and none have given me lag of any kind.

I cant tell if it’s getting worse and worse or I’m losing more and more patience with this issue. Same thing about 3 days ago. patch and now lag. everything else runs great except gw2. i have a lot of guildies complaining also. I reduced my graphic settings and it made no difference.

It’s making the game really unenjoyable even to just do daily’s. I couldn’t do anything in silverwastes at all.

I am still having this issue and is getting kind of old after 4 days, anyways I decided to do a ping and tracert today and found the one of nsoft servers is losing 100% of the packets. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the issues we are having, but it is the only server along the path which I had any issues with along with a high ms for it.

Issue still prevalent for me. Verizon Fios customer from Boston. The strange thing as I stated earlier is others on my network are not having the issue, nor am I having latency issues with other services that take much more bandwidth. I renamed my .dat file and redownloaded the whole game last night. The issue is still present.

EST, NA, from NY, and yes Verizon fios, no problem with the internet but the game lags every now and then, costs me losses in pvp, dying in dungeons, and makes me wanna punch the monitor. Its not all the time but every now and then i will have a 2-3 seconds lag and sometimes just freezes, but when i character select its working and loads me back. But seriously cant pvp for my life with this lag. ITS BEEN 4 days seriously can some dev say somethign about this matter.

I’m getting random skill lag, a sudden freeze where everyone on my screen stops moving and after2-4secs it fast forward worst case is when i do my lv50 fotm while fighting mai trin this happens same on my dungeon run like COE p2, p3 when this occurs i can’t do my 1 2 dodge. Also in teq fight after daily reset happens too worst part is getting dc’ed showing game client lost connection(I never had this problem before until this past 3days all my teq, dungeon, fotm, and pvp daily runs are ruined by this problem.

Same issue. Seems to be inconsistent and not related to the amount of in-game action. Frequent boots to character select due to loss of connectivity.

Interestingly enough when I use the resource monitor to look at gw2.exe, the latency is very good. In fact, latency to the server which seems to be sending/receiving majority of the data is in sub 100ms range with no packet loss. So it feels like a connectivity issue, acts like a connectivity issue, but isn’t diagnosed like a connectivity issue.

Central US. Vyve broadband. Tracing to the connection server (as per resource monitor) ends up with one of the intermediate hops constantly having 100% PL. So yes, seems like there is a router down somewhere. Alas it has been down for several days. While this is not a problem on ANets side, it would be very helpful if one of their employees would investigate.

At most I have 1.3-3% packet loss at Anets servers. My problem lies with Verizon’s current routing with their network traffic for this game. I’m going to blame the storms that have occurred as I never have lag issues. I assume there is nothing I can do. I’ve tried setting up a static IP, opened all ports again, anything I could think of really. Ashe has been contacting me through emails and asked for my pingplotter reports so I’ll keep you guys updated.

I’m also EST with Verizon and it’s been terrible for the last 4 days. I’ve gotten so frustrated on most days I’ve just logged in and logged right back out.

I’m not sure what the issue is but this seems to happen every few months to players who use Verizon as their ISP.

I doubt it is just Verizon’s fault as other people are having this issue with different ISP, while others with Verizon have no issues at all. At the moment we can only wait, you could try getting a VPN but some have reported the not even this helps.

Still happening today. This is the longest I’ve had an issue with unplayable lag/rubberband since Gw2 launch. Even the DDOS lags (which felt about the same as this) didn’t last this many days, and weren’t all day long. Plus there is absolutely no dev response so that is terrific.

West coast Verizon FiOS user here.

This has been going on over ~ 3 days. The rubberbanding/packetloss is extremely frustrating. I have dc’ed nearly every time I’ve tried to do a world boss, WvW is impossible at this time. It’s beyond frustrating that this lag issue arose out of nowhere, and it looks like there is no concrete solution to the lag?

Well lag for me has stop I can now play the game normally again, pve, pvp and wvw. However now trading post wont load or takes a long time to load or to do anything on it, when before trading post was just fine.

I have Verizon FIOS in VA.

After sending 8 or so emails back and forth to GW2 Support team (although nothing but a VPN helped, you guys were great and responded quickly), I again contacted Verizon, I shared screens with them and ran the tracert to show them how the data packets once sent to from my PC → ISP →ISP →“0.ae2.XT3.DFW9.ALTER.NET” -onward – are bounced around a few times until eventually continuing to the ncsoft servers. Verizon said they can’t control the current path the data is being trafficked and that particular server probably has a firewall or doesn’t accept those packets, so its bounced around some until there is a server that accepts the data and continues its networking route. This should explain the lag I get in game, but there was no solution offered on their end. I guess I can only hope the networking path changes sometime soon.

You will probably have to get them to put you in touch with one of their t3 technicians rather than their costumer support as they would be able to look more into the problem (the higher you go the better, Verizon’s costumer support often doesn’t know what to do besides telling you how to troubleshoot and look into simple network issues). Given alter.net belongs to Verizon there should be no reason for them not to be able to do something.

Around noon EST everything for me return to normal, no lag or skill delay of any sort(though trading post is loading slow or not at all). My route also goes through this alter.net and I am having no issues with it but I live in VA, with the storm up north something might have happen to the lines so packets might be getting lost all together. If VPN is working for you the is great (many on reddit have said VPN has not work for them) but keep checking the route since its not fun to pay more for internet.

Been playing Since august (over 6th months) with Verizon. From multiple different connection points in the North east (Home, parents house, friends house). I play almost every day and my connection has been fine until the last five days. The last five days has been almost unplayable, especially in group settings.
Contacted Verizon about connection issues, have reset IP, have repaired client, have even installed recent updates that have yet to be installed. They told me nothing (which is BS).

I have been playing the game for 2 years with no lag issues this bad. There have been lag issues before but they were quickly fixed. Thread was posted on how to fix it via VPN but that was removed. I have Verizon as well I would really like to start playing again. I contacted support and have yet to receive a reply. The past 5 days have been really bad and have turned me off of WvW and PvP because I cant kill one person let alone help my guild against a zerg.

I been playing with friends today and been getting massive lag today, more so than the last 3 days. Some of my friends have also reported this yet they live on the west coast and don’t even have Verizon. However it seems Verizon has been having all sorts of outages in the east coast. (rather not post links but you can check outages at down detector).

This might play into a lot of the issues many are having but there seems to be more to it, as there are those not on Verizon having skill lag.

I have had these same issues as well over the past few days which I have never had before. I also have Verizon FIOS for my ISP, but I live in Texas. I pretty much just stopped trying to play because the pauses would get me killed or I would just be standing around. I wonder if the snow in the east coast is effecting the network?

It’s been the same for me. Never had that much drop in fps/lag even during server attacks in the past year. Like most people I’ve experienced some drop in fps/lag here and there but nothing this long. My computer is 1 years and 2 months old. i7 4770, gtx 770 egva SC edition, 16g RAM.

I’m continuing to log in, hoping to see the issue resolved by itself but still am at an average of 5-10fps (in Rata Sum) when I’m used to 70-100+fps in WvW/eotm.

Tried resetting router, internet speed and modem with my ISP. All good.
I repaired and reinstalled the client. Nothing changed.
Updated my graphic card driver. No change.
Ended up doing a system restore to last week. Nothing.

Today, I’ve updated driver for my Ethernet card, changed port and wire running from my router to my computer. Still no improvement in fps. Thought it might be malware so I ran a full scan with Windows 8.1 utility and found nothing.

Worrying about this and looking at 2 possibilities: 1 – reformatting my computer or 2 – buying and installing a new Ethernet card.

Finally opened a ticket. Not sure what else to check. Any idea while waiting for ArenaNet to answer the ticket?

I am kittening done. I can’t deal with this anymore. Can someone update this thread when the lag is over? Not logging back in until they get their kitten together -_-
