Do as I do… be patient.
Same thing here….stuck on trying to connect. Sorrow furnace server
I was planning to work on that portal tonight..kitten !!
I’m having the exact same problem… seems like this whole tread did too: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Start-up-Client-stuck-at-0kb-s
The little patience I have left is starting to wear thin. However, as the saying goes, “misery loves company” so I’m glad I have some people to share it with.

same here. =(
from the previous post`s thread, it seems that we’re gonna have to play the wait game.
The good news is we all appear to be winning this ‘waiting’ game you speak of.
Sigh.
Great…
If you are still having problems, try adding this to your GW2 Shortcut Target:
-assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
Here is a list of alternatives to also try:
194.25.94.170:80
174.35.71.9:80
151.249.90.199:80
93.188.135.37:80
62.154.232.194:80
You can do this by right clicking on your GW2 Shortcut and adding the above text to your Target field. For example your target should look like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
workign so far thanks Chris

This fixed things immediately for me. The client updated 2-3 times in 20 seconds, and now I’m over 40% done patching.

Yup! Glad this seems to be working, this won’t solve all patching issues, but should help players that are having DNS resolving issues

Worked!
Thank you!
All of those aren’t working for me. I’m on the setup though, so that may change things. I tried reinstalling after the game wouldn’t change, but looks like it played against me. Any ideas for me?

To be honest, I have no idea, I’ll see if I can poke our Tech Support people on how to make shortcut modifications on Mac (I’m just not a Mac guy, sorry I just don’t know…maybe someone else can help before I get a response?)

I imagine the fix for Mac client will be via the Terminal in a similar manner to the streaming client fix a couple of months back, so I’ll be trying that myself. I will get into this game – I’ve got too many dishes that I want to avoid washing!!

[Mac]
I managed to get into the French client by changing language in the start up before logging in!
Edit : You can then go into options and change language back to English in-game.

I’ve added Chris’s instructions, along with some other troubleshooting steps, to an article in our knowledge base. Thanks Chris!

Im having the same problem. I dont know whats going on
Hi, ihave problem whit connection. Yesterday I played on a friend account to test the game. today I bought the game and i have problem whit the next error. Is not from te firewall, campus or somthing like this.
It is happening to everyone and it is not only Guild Wars 2 but a bunch of other sites aswell (battlenet, amazon, TESO, Wildstar to name a few)
Is there a fix for it or do we just have to wait ?
New patch isn’t downloading, keep getting this message. Already shut down antivirus, firewall and everything else I could think of. Any suggestions?
Same issue here. I’ve also been experiencing a series of semi-regular server disconnections over the past few days and I can’t help but wonder if they’re related.

None of these work for me. When I add these it won’t connect at all. With a non-altered shortcut target the download speed slowly tapers off then just stops at 0KB/sec and stays there forever.
I’m going to assume we’re all east coast verizon customers. This happened bout a year ago. Found this forum about what causes it. Verizon sucks. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/guild-wars-2/td-p/778102

I’ve been trying to kittening download the patch for almost 3 HOURS now. Unbelievable. Unacceptable.

I’m in Massachusetts and this one worked for me too.

I did this and it worked. If you don’t know how to do this, after right clicking on gw2 shortcut go to properties. You should find a box you can type in with some stuff in already labeled “Target”
Just add -assetsrv(space) on the end and one of the ips listed from earlier.

They need to kittening tell us how much the total download is. Like seriously. Why hide that from us. There’s no status bar of how much we are from 100%. What is the point of keeping us in the dark. Wow.
