For the past month this issue has been getting worse it seems. I keep crashing and the log says that it is because memory could not be written at a specific address and it has this reason every time. Anyone else been having this problem, it might also be important that I have 2 monitors and use the browser while the game is running. I attached my log file.

Same problem. Similar error messages and uptime. It’s only been happening the last few months, maybe since 2-3 patches ago. I changed nothing and the game ran awesomely before that all the way back to the press betas which I was a part of.

I went through a lengthy support ticket with A.Net and they eventually gave up on me. They suggested mostly nonsense like different driver versions, turning off certain programs, etc. Eventually they told me to reformat windows because nothing they suggested worked (lol..). If you figure it out I’d definitely be interested in knowing the solution. My most common crash message attached below. Good luck.

If I were you two, I would run a check disk on the hard drive that GW2 is stored on. Then, if that passes, I would run memtest on your RAM to make sure your RAM is functional.

You can get to checking the disk by going to ‘My Computer’ then right clicking the hard drive and clicking ‘Properties’ and then going to the ‘Tools’ tab and click ‘Check now…’.

You can find memtest at:

Hi Halmo – Your crash log indicates the fault module is “ntdll.dll.” Have your tried running Windows System File Checker? This should rule out any potential issues with ntdll.dll which is where I would start.

It sure looks like a memory error to me. The failing addresses are pretty high, so that eliminates a hardware device as the culprit.

The first address 73576b34 (hex) is right around the 2 gig mark. If a RAM check shows no errors (they don’t always show memory problems because they don’t really stress the RAM) – try swapping memory sticks around or removing one.

It’s not a memory error. Support ticket had me prime95, Memtest, swap out, etc. Didn’t do jack and everything is solid as a rock.

As for what Ashley suggested: the guy posted a log with 44 errors… and ntdll.dll shows up a whole two times. My errors don’t say ntdll.dll, but occasionally I get nvd3dum.dll as the fault. I think they had me driver sweeper my drivers half a dozen times in response, which also did nothing. I don’t think they have a clue.

They have a clue, you just have an unusual problem.

Remember support cant actually SEE your computer and fix it themselves, they can only provide guidance on what the problem could be.

As far as nvd3dum.dll errors that points to a video driver issue, so what they asked you to do is completely reasonable.

@op In all your crash reports you are getting a c0000005 error, which is an access violation. Various things are triggering it and either this means you have a faulty/corrupted driver or faulty/corrupted system files.

To run system file checker:
open an administrative command prompt
(windows vista/7 click start type cmd in the search box, then right click it and run as administrator)
type sfc /scannow and press enter
Wait for the scan to complete, notice if it completed successfully. If it gives a message stating that it found corrupt files but could not fix them you need to reinstall your operating system. If it found corrupt files and successfully fixed them restart your computer.

At least youre suggesting things I haven’t heard before. I appreciate it, but no dice.

I am also having issues similar to this. It is only happening on my Warrior who is in Southsun. It went from every 10-12 minutes to not even being able to log into his character. All my other characters (mostly parked in LA or other cities) are working just fine.

This thread makes me feel a lot better. Clearly it’s a common issue, and likely not our fault but a problem with the game itself. Hopefully they recognize this and address it.
