I have been having nothing but lag spikes the past few weeks, this is getting pathetic with the servers messing up. I was just doing a dungeon and all of us disconnected at once. Seriously fix this, it is getting extremely annoying now, it’s starting to make the game unplayable.

Fix your internet connection.

It’s not internet connections or hardware. My internet connection is more than awesome and my hardware is way more than sufficient for this game and I have had almost constant lag spikes since the new patch.

You ever do a traceRT to the Anet servers to make sure its NOT your internet connection? Just saying your internet connection, and hardware, are awesome is not enough.

You need to verify the transport between you, your ISP, and Anet to make sure there isnt a bigger issue going on. Like a DoS attack flooding FRA63 again….

I’m from the US and have been getting terrible lag spikes too. PvP is 100% unplayable. I’ve talked to quite a few others too. Tons of people having issues since the last patch. Though this all started for me this morning. I can’t believe others have had this since the last patch. That seriously makes me want to uninstall.

Sorry just doesn’t work that way. You, and your ‘group’, will need to start by running traceroutes to the servers when the lag/drops happen and see where the lag starts.

if their servers were terrible and their connection having issues, this forum would be flooded with issues. and that is just not the case.

50~ users among 250,000~ does not a wide spread issue make.

If everyone in the group are all using the same ISP or all your ISPs are using the same backkittenouting to reach the Anet Servers, your assumption is dead wrong….only a TRACERT will show for sure.

You can continue to rant at Anet to fix something they cannot (because the servers are not “broken”) or you can pursue a solution. If you DO find that Anet Servers are at fault, present that info to Support via a ticket as posting this rant here will do nothing to fix anything.

your all from outside the US, so you are all probably using the same backbone transport to hit arena’s servers.

sure, i’m the idiot here. Just trying to get you to do the BARE MIN and do a traceroute to one of your anet servers that you connect to.

For comparison here is a Trace that I just did. You’ll notice the nice low response times on each hop. Btw, Level3 is denying icmp requests on some of their transport now due to the DoS attacks that were going on from a month ago, so that’s is why 2 of Level3 nodes are *’s.

This is a clean Traceroute, where if I was having issues I would point back to Anet’s network/servers. But, I am not having any issues with GW2 in general at this time. Thus, this is an example.

I just spent a good hour on the phone with them earlier in the day and was told it’s not on their end and i need to talk to whichever game is having issues.

EDIT: I would also like to point out this is the exact reason everyone is frustrated and pointing the finger at Anet. I’ve been playing the game since beta weekends and never in my life had any issues other than the occasional quick lag spike once in a blue moon. Feature pack goes live and all of a sudden huge chunks of the player base are having horrible issues.

When calling comcast they directed me to anet saying it was nothing they could do.

I have no issues with any other games or services that connect to the internet. I actually just finished downloading quite a few games from steam earlier last week and have had zero isssues when any of those, zero issues on league, sc2, or any other game I own.

Excuse me for listening to my ISP and coming to the logical conclusion that ISP says it isn’t them and every single other game I own connects perfectly fine equals something wrong with the single game I’m having problems with.

If there is something that I am able to do without a snarky, sarcastic attitude I would be thrilled to log in and run through 5 minutes of wvw without being disconnected 3 times.

Your issue is with Comcast;

2 121ms 12/ 25 = 48% 3/ 25 = 12% 96.120.41.201 0/ 25 = 0% |
3 98ms 9/ 25 = 36% 0/ 25 = 0% te-8-4-ur02.(city removed).mi.michigan.comcast.net [69.139.241.173]

Your latency starts at the 96.120.41.201 at address with 121ms and proceeds into Comcast’s network with a nice 98ms.

So, yea totally on Anet’s end here….

Call your isp, and if necessary, provide your pathping with a tracert.

I just spent a good hour on the phone with them earlier in the day and was told it’s not on their end and i need to talk to whichever game is having issues.

However, the issue IS on their end and the traceroutes PROVE it.

Talk to someone in Level3, network operations and actually SUPPLY them with your outputs. If they dispute them talk to a manager.

High latency at your DIA Edge is going to be high latency down through the pipe. Your issue is ISP related.

Hey gang, may I suggest that being mean to one another isn’t going to solve problems.

As to lag spikes, I’m practically on top of the network backbone switch for the southwest, it is less than .25 mile away. I have a 75/50gb connection. I’m plugged directly into the router. I have blazing speed. I can traceroute to the server farm where ncsoft hosts in milliseconds. However, at the point where telia is handing off the stream to ncsoft, there is massive packet loss.

Example:
6 15ms 0/ 25 = 0% 0/ 25 = 0% TenGigE0-6-0-0.GW4.DFW13.ALTER.NET [152.63.101.5]
0/ 25 = 0% |
7 12ms 0/ 25 = 0% 0/ 25 = 0% teliasonera-gw.customer.alter.net [63.65.123.46]
2/ 25 = 8% |
8 51ms 2/ 25 = 8% 0/ 25 = 0% ash-bb4-link.telia.net [213.155.135.2]
4/ 25 = 16% |
9 150ms 7/ 25 = 28% 1/ 25 = 4% ffm-bb2-link.telia.net [80.91.246.63]
0/ 25 = 0% |
10 155ms 8/ 25 = 32% 2/ 25 = 8% ffm-b11-link.telia.net [62.115.138.9]
0/ 25 = 0% |
11 147ms 21/ 25 = 84% 15/ 25 = 60% ncsoft-ic-306349-ffm-b11.c.telia.net [62.115.43.74]
0/ 25 = 0% |
12 —- 25/ 25 =100% 19/ 25 = 76% 206-127-157-86.ncsoft.com [206.127.157.86]
0/ 25 = 0% |
13 142ms 6/ 25 = 24% 0/ 25 = 0% 206-127-158-1.ncsoft.com [206.127.158.1]

Lots and lots and lots of people are reporting latency at that point. That is not an ISP issue, there’s nothing comcast or verizon or god himself can do to fix something that’s an internal network routing issue, which this appears to be.

That not everyone is seeing it, for example, sirsquishy who isn’t seeing a problem, it’s because you’re routing in through a different connection. It’s not like there’s just one big ol cable and all the data comes in there.

It is absolutely possible for people to see different latency depending on how their routed to the loadshare.

Also, a 12% drop in the early stage of the route isn’t going to have a noticeable effect on latency or fps. Seriously, that’s a hiccup. However, 60-80% packet drop at the ncsoft server will absolutely ruin the game for anyone coming in through that packet center.

you’re an idiot, we’re not using the same isp and it is the servers, look at the rest of the forums

You know, the LEAST you could do is try a traceroute instead of resorting to name calling because you don’t want to acknowledge that, MAYBE, by some random chance, that Sirsquishy is right in this, and that you are not right. Other than that, good luck getting any sort of help if you’re always this headstrong about something and feel so passionately that your issues with this game have absolutely nothing to do with things on your end.

When an entire group disconnects from completely different places around the UK, it most certainly isn’t conenction, it’s these terrible servers

Well we’re not, and many more people are complaining SO IT IS THESE CRAP SERVERS

except it isn’t.

see where we are going here now? Circles. If you would like to stop going in circles do as asked and traceroute to prove us wrong.

you’re an idiot, we’re not using the same isp and it is the servers, look at the rest of the forums

You do realize that likely 90% of EU passes thru the SAME routers going to Germany (where Anet EU servers are), right? If there is some issue with that backkittenouting there WILL be a bunch of EU players having issues. That’s not to say it CANNOT be an ANet issue, but ranting on these forums will fix nothing.

  1. Run TRACERT and determine WHERE the issue might be.
  2. From that info either submit a ticket with your ISP (to fix the internet routing).
  3. OR with ANET Support if it’s in fact the Anet Server farm having the problems.

And thanks for calling those trying to assist you names…..very mature. Rest assure I’m absolutely NOT going to be back here to provide any more…..good luck to you.

I actually just finished downloading quite a few games from steam earlier last week and have had zero isssues when any of those, zero issues on league, sc2, or any other game I own.

comcast is a garbage isp.

I am not trying to be snarky. If you are having internet issues, i would blame comcast.
