I named my character after the historical figure Adolph kitten when I first made an account unaware it was against the rules (Which I should have looked at more than I did). This blunder resulted in a permaban withing the first few hours of gameplay. I contacted support and waited about 24 hours for an unban and now I am concerned. I already bought the expansion and never got a chance to use it. I assume this is a bug of some form due to it being the first offense (and a rather small one). I hope to, if unbanned, change my account and character name as soon as possible.

2. In your support ticket, did you ask them to also change your account name and give them an alternative? I’d recommend that.

It’s possible by the way that they suspended your account due to the account name, not the character name, in order to rename the account.

Yeah.. that account name. I can foresee some complications with it.

Yeah, normally first offenses just get a warning. However, your chosen name is in the realm of “extremely offensive”, and that, coupled with the fact that your account name is the same, may be why it was an automatic ban. I’d suggest doing as Illconceived said (update your ticket to ask to change the *display name, character name, and give an alternative name).

Ask to change your ‘Display’ Name, not your Account Name. Account Names are the email associated with your account.

Thank you for this advice and feedback. I did request to change the account name, but am unsure what you mean by an alternative. Can you please explain this to me?

Update your ticket, and tell them you don’t want to change your Account Name, but rather your Display Name. That’s the name everyone sees; hence ‘Display’.

Offering an alternative means you choosing a different name to be displayed, rather than the CS Team choosing it.

Gotta say this was such a stupid thing to do .. of all the hundreds of millions of ‘historical figures’ whose name you could use you just happened to use the name of arguably the most evil ‘historical figure’, ever .. I’d be quite happy to see your ban upheld on appeal.

How can your account be suspended but still able to write in the forums?

Well deserved ban i would say.

It is worse for people in real life who already had the name “Isis” and then now you get patriotic ignorant people who say that the name “Isis” which had an entirely different meaning before, now is a terrorist name. /sigh

But yeah, who here plays this game, that was ACTUALLY alive from the Holocaust days? Who is actually offended?

Just kind of stupid to choose a name that is controversial. Ban is a bit over the top, but a suspension, sure.

Unless of course this account is associated with an IP or some other information that is the same as a previous account that has had naming issues. Then I’d say permaban is warrented.
