I’m having the same problem as many others. The game is crashing my entire PC at random intervals. No BSOD, just fade to black, and computer reboots. I’ve checked the event viewer and there aren’t any clues as to why. It’s just the generic kernel event, which means the computer suddenly shut down. If it were an overheat, windows should report a thermal event.

I’m sure this is related to NVidia drivers though. There’s no noticeable heat coming from anything. I’ve not seen any component, including my GPU, get over 65. So I know it’s not an overheat issue. I’ve thoroughly tested my PSU, it’s running perfectly. No spikes or drops on any of my power rails or lines. I’m thoroughly convinced with that information, with the fact that I cannot replicate the crash with ANY other game or software, and with the fact that so many others have the same exact issue, that the problem is not hardware related.

For record keeping’s sake, here are my computer specs. I’m running an EVGA Geforce GTX 660 with 2 gigs of onboard GDDR5. CPU is a core I7 @ 3.5 ghz, which is liquid cooled. I have 16 gigs of DDR3 RAM. Mobo is ASUS.

I had this issue with my old X6 system and I purchased a new PSU and it fixed the issue. It might be the same issue and it might not be.
If you could borrow a PSU and test it that would be your best bet.
Monitor your voltages and make sure that the rails are ok. If you have a PSU tester that would be perfect but most people don’t have those

I thought about that Stormcrow, but after much testing, I realize it can’t be my PSU. I’ve used several monitors to test all the lines and rails in my PSU, nothing really fluctuates. On top of that, I can’t replicate the issue with any other piece of software, be it a game, application, or even video editing software. I’ve got many other games, including MMOs, and can crank any of them up to max settings without any problem at all. Guild Wars 2 is the only game that has this problem. That’s what assures me this is not a hardware related issue.

Hello. I just wanted to add my post to this thread.

I have similar issues, using Nvidia 660 Ti. The problems described here are almost 100% the ones I have. My computer locks up randomly. But in my case the PC doesn’t restart, it just freezes completely, the screen turns black, red, green or any solid color. Nothing can be done. The only way to get up and running is to hard reset the system and then again. I am using the latest drivers, but I’ve tried all the former driver versions from Nvidia with no luck, including betas.

THIS HAPPENS ONLY WITH GUILD WARS 2. I’VE DONE MULTIPLE BENCHMARKS WITH SOFTWARE LIKE 3DMARK, FURMARK AND A FEW MORE. PLUS PLAYED A COUPLE OF OTHER GAMES – NOTHING.

I’ve tested my RAM, my CPU, my GPU. I tried with different GPUs (mainly AMD 7950 and AMD 4850 + the integrated GPU in 3570k) – no problems.

I also think this is a software problem, since any other game/application runs perfectly fine.

We need an ArenaNet representative to take a look in this, please!

I agree completely with Hank. We are not the only two that have experienced this issue either. The forums, and the internet at large (based on a google search), are full of people with the same problem. Please ANet, address the issue. Give us something, anything, to go on. I’m not even asking for a fix right this second. A simple, “We see the problem and are working on it” would be suffice.

This may sound crazy but when the game first released a lot of folks were having the same issue and it actually was due to networking…yes sounds crazy but its true. In fact my friend was having this issue so ad one day we decided to troubleshoot the issue and by accident when we connect the pc without the router the black screens went away…however I stopped playing for awhile after that for work reason and when returning the issue was fixed. Something you could try maybe refresh your router to default settings…or even try opening ports for the game.

I was never able to find a technical reason behind this issue except a possible workaround.

Hank.4839

I highly doubt that it’s a networking issue. Plus, I’m not using a router anyway.

Btw, as far as I’ve observed this, the game basically crashes when everything is on high/ultra. I have yet to see it crash on Best Performance. But I guess that’s because higher settings demand more from whatever it is. I still think it’s something within the game though.

I mean, if it was a bricked GPU, wouldn’t it crash in benchmarks and other games? There’s no logic for a malfunctioning GPU to crash only in one game. That kind of proves that the game has a conflict with either the GPU or the drivers.

I hope someone from ArenaNet sees this thread. I’m literally sick of this, it’s been months now.

I remember people with the 660(ti) having this issue. To my knowledge I don’t remember that there was a fix for it but more research might find something.
If you cant replicate the error using folding/stress tests then it would be logical to think that it is something in the game.
Did you check the crash log to see if there was any error messages? The dump file should give you an idea on what is going on.
The bad part about this is that Anet hasn’t given a response to my knowledge about the 660 issue which seems to affect many people.

When I first installed the game a few days ago I had no issues at all. Played hours on end with no problems. Then a couple days ago I had a crash. But just once that day. Yesterday had several crashes. And now today I can’t play for more than a minute without the same crash. I did a -repair. My graphic drivers are up-to-date. And I play AoC and LoTRO with graphics set to maximum without any issues.

Edit to add: The crashing ties itself to a particular character. I can log in an alt and the crashing is far less frequent. I have one character who always crashes within a minute, and another who I can play for an hour before crashing the same way.

Odd that it depends on the character you’re using.
You could try to roll back the drivers to a previous version and see if it helps.
It seems that you’re definitely not alone in this matter

This is translated from the German site(google translate ftw!) from a person who had the same issue

Edit: I found the bug itself. Just do not install the latest driver 320.18 but an elder. Now everything works Impeccable

So try using an older version of the driver and see how that goes

Stormcrow.7513 – There are no dump files/crash reports from Windows or GW2. The only thing present is in Event Viewer -

<Data Name=“BugcheckCode”>0</Data>
<Data Name=“BugcheckParameter1”>0×0</Data>
<Data Name=“BugcheckParameter2”>0×0</Data>
<Data Name=“BugcheckParameter3”>0×0</Data>
<Data Name=“BugcheckParameter4”>0×0</Data>
<Data Name=“SleepInProgress”>false</Data>
<Data Name=“PowerButtonTimestamp”>0</Data>
</EventData>
</Event>

That’s all I get. Nothing else. Every time. This is the so called “Event ID 41 Task Category 63 Kernel Power” thingy. It just states that the PC was shutdown improperly. But I don’t think that’s the error that causes the freeze, it is just the consequence of me forcefully restarting the machine.

Pay attention though, there’s only zeros in the bugcheck parameter. Weird stuff anyway.

That’s the same exact thing I’ve got in my event viewer Hank. It’s very strange to me that all the codes and parameters are at zero. That’s yet another strange piece of the puzzle.

To the other posters, I really do appreciate you guys trying to help. But nothing has fixed the issue at all. I’ve even tried running the game with two different monitoring programs (Speccy and HWMonitor) running to see if ANYTHING out of the ordinary shows up. Yet again, nothing out of the ordinary. All of my hardware functions perfectly, nothing gets hot, nothing loses power, everything is fine. Then suddenly the screen goes black, and the computer reboots itself. No BSOD, no thermal events in event viewer, nothing.

I will also reiterate what Hank and myself have both said before too. I cannot replicate this issue with any other piece of software, be it gaming or application, it just cannot be done. Brand new games like NBA 2k13 (with an enhanced graphics mod no less), SWTOR, etc. Stress test programs, and video editing software. None of them can replicate what happens when I try to play Guild Wars 2.

Just as an FYI for anyone who is dealing with support on this issue, you’ll probably be told to try an knock the maximum allowed power on your CPU down to 99%. I tried this, and it didn’t fix anything, and made a noticeable difference in my computer’s overall performance. I don’t recommend it personally. Even if it did somehow fix the problem (which it flat out didn’t), it wouldn’t be an optimal solution as it hinders the performance of the PC in question anyway.

I’m having exactly the same issue as op. Fist i thought ok, this must be a psu failure, even thouhg i have a corsair HX850. so i toke my rig to my friend’s store, we tried to play in a 1150w psu, witch he barrowed from his university, and guess what, same problem. Ok, must be the memory than, replace for a low voltage gskill. Still no good. Since i just got a new titan, I havent really tried to downgrade the drivers yet, but one thing i can tell you, with all settings setted to default, that is no way this can be a psu, memory, or any overheating issu, since it ONLY happens while playing gw2 and gw2 only.

edit: I just want to point out, that is not the game client crashing, GW2 does restart my whole computer.

My saga so far with this issue. I have a quad-SLI setup with 2 NVidia GTX-295 cards. I was using the 314 drivers when I installed the game about 2 weeks ago. This is the crash error I am getting:

Assertion: (m_dims.x == highResDims.x >> 1) && (m_dims.y == highResDims.y >> 1)
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Gr\Dx9\Dx9Tex.cpp(1154)

I had one character (human warrior) who was crashing about once every 30 minutes, and a Sylvari Elementalist who was crashing regularly within 30 seconds of logging her in.

I reverted my drivers to the 306 version and I got the Black Screen problem whenever I logged in a character (no crashing now). But the “fix” for the Black Screen problem did not work for me (set Anti-Aliasing to Application, which it already was). So next I installed the latest drivers (320)—bad idea, now the game crashed immediately upon logging in a character. So I reverted back to the 314 drivers and deleted my characters that crashed regularly and made a new character. I was able to play the new character for over an hour without a crash. But then I got a crash on that character as well. I made another new character and so far no crash, but I’ve only played them less than an hour. I see more crashing in my future.

Dear devs, can we get a fix for this problem, which really does seem to be game related.

I’m able to play up to around 15 min.. then my computer shuts down and I need to turn it back on. I have a program that checks for crashes and dumps and it comes up blank.

When I started this game I was able to play for 12+ hrs straight with no issues. Then over time after a few patches.. GW2… I was unable to play due to computer shutting down. Nothing I’ve ran in the past has ever done this.

I’m trying the support suggestion of putting antialiasing mode to app.. see if this helps.. if not, I’m wasting my time again.

Try this.

Shut down all background processes and services not related to windows/microsoft, graphics, or sound.

If t still does it. try re installing GW2, make sure to clean of all prior folders including cache etc.

If that fails try downclocking ur GPU, specialy if its factory overclocked.

If everything u try is failing, format ur HDD reinstall windows and essential drivers and update only, then GW2, and try. If it works, slowly install each of ur other programs u use 1 by one trying out GW2 after each, You may find u have 1 peice of software gw2 doesnt like interacting with.
Sounds crazy but a good hanfull of years back i suddenly found myself constantly crashing with Eve online. I replaced my PSU, formated ..everything. Only to find out that 1 program that i always installed immediatly was causing all the trouble…. Winamp. :P

@SolarNova: What you are recommending is completely unnecessary. I have zero issues with any other games I play (AoC, LoTRO, TSW, ME, ME2). This crashing problem only happens in GW2. Heck, GW2 won’t even run without crashing immediately if I have the latest NVidia drivers (320) installed. It is a GW2 issue. While there are players here and there that have hardware/software problems that contribute to this issue, it is still primarily a GW2 problem. I appreciate your suggestions, but it shifts all the blame onto people’s computers. And that is not where all the blame lies.

ok so, here I am to join the melee….. same generic description of everyone elses issues, although I think the exact mechanics of the crash slightly differ person to person for whatever reason. (Error report log / straight to blue screen / hard lockup)….

Seems to have really manifest itself over perhaps the last month or so. Perhaps the dragon bash angered the Elders enough that they’ve turned to hacking idk. Anyway, to recap ive tried drivers, chkdsk with full options (usually to repair the hard resets ><), checked temps on everything, the only event viewer stuff I see is the kernel power event item for the hard reset.

Suffice it to say I know my PC is not the issue, ive attempted to force it to crash in any other way possible and produce a bsod with no result. My system is pretty custom so if I get the same result as a stamped out i7 or i5 then its definitely not a hardware thing. The only common factor to any of these posts is that I too have a gtx 660. To further remove heat as an issue my GTX660 is cut down to fit a pci-e 8x slot and runs about 20 degrees cooler than spec due to my fan placement. I frequently see 35-40C under full load and still get resets.

Heres my spec:
Supermicro Superserver rebuilt to Coolermaster Storm Chassis
Dual Quad Core Xeon 3.0’s, 8GB ECC FB-DIMMs,
GTX660 modified ~20 pins removed to fit PCI-E 8x
SB Audigy functional in downclocked PCI-X slot
P/S is 850 watts, Win 7 Ult 64

There is not a card in my PC designed to fit in anything its attached to (including the mainboard) and it works perfectly for anything except GW2.

I’m saddened to say I’m in the same boat: the game freezes intermittently on me. I’ve tried installing various video driver versions, applied the NVidia settings changes indicated in the stickied post in this forum, repairing the GW2 data files (using the -repair startup parameter) and disabling most background processes and applications, all to no avail.
A full reinstall and disabling all applications & processes are both not an option since this PC is also used for work. Considering many other posts mention having tried reinstalling without success this doesn’t seem worth the trouble anyhow.

Additional information:
- Specs: Alienware Area 51 with Intel i7 @ 2.97GHz, MSI GTX 670 OC, 6GB memory, Soundblaster X-Fi.
- I’ve played GW2 since day one and while I did encounter a few crashes in the first couple of months (3 or so) the game has been very stable overall. Since some time in May the game literally crashes each and every session. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after two hours or more. They can also occur at any time of the day.
- My hardware has remained almost identical since I’ve started playing GW2, the only difference being a new video card. However, I’ve installed that almost immediately after purchasing the game so I’ve played on identical hardware almost as long as GW2 is out.
- No new drivers other than automatic updates have been installed since I’ve started playing Guild Wars 2. The graphics driver has been (automatically) updated but as stated I’ve tried reverting it to several older versions to no avail.
- I’ve monitored temperatures and while GW2 does fairly stress my PC nothing is out of the ordinary in that regard. At peak times GPU reaches around 60 degrees celcius. CPU is water cooled and its temperature hardly budges.
- Nothing on my PC is overclocked except my video card. The video card is implicitly overclocked (that’s what the OC in the specs stands for) and I’m unaware of any means to turn it off. But again: I’ve played GW2 on it since almost day 1, mostly without problems until a month or so ago.
- Only two other programs have ever crashed on my PC, being Path of Exile (which was still in beta back then so that’s not entirely unexpected) and Crysis 2 (which was due to a known issue in the configuration and has run perfectly stable after having modified said configuration).
I can run very taxing games like Witcher 2, Metro 2033 and aforementioned Crysis 2 at high or even highest settings without any problems. Recent games such as Bioshock Infinite run at high settings without any problems as well.
- The specific behaviour of the crashes has changed slightly since they started to consistently occur. Initially my screen went red, pink or white when GW2 froze, now it turns off just as if my screen saver would’ve kicked in. It seems everything continues to run in the background though, I can see my HDD indicator light continuing to blink for instance.
- There’s nothing whatsoever to be found in the Event log and no memory dumps are available either. Again, it seems my PC doesn’t crash per se and only the video output is interrupted. CTRL+ALT+DEL or ALT+TAB don’t work though, I need to hard-reset to get past the problem.
- I’ve encountered the problem with all my GW2 characters. I’ve even started a new one and the crashes occur with that character too.
- There’s no apparent connection between location or activity in the game world and the occurences of the crashes. I’ve encountered them in WvW, in capitals of various races and in other regions, in dungeons, while simply questing by myself or even when I was AFK. I’ve also encounterd these crashes at peak times for my server (Desolation) and just as well when there’s hardly anyone on.
- It should be noted that Guild Wars 2 is the only multiplayer game I’ve actively played on my current PC. The issue being network related (possibly combined with other factors) is therefore not out of the question.
However, it has only been as prominent as it is now since some time in May, as I’ve said before. My network connection is extremely stable overall.

That’s all I can think of for now. Any help or at least suggestions towards a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Same here, GW2 is giving me BSOD especially in fractals. I`m running a single GTX 570 which gives me a solid 60FPS anywhere in a game but fractals and certain spots in LA are causing my computer to crash. I ran all kinds of stress tests, benchmarks and it looks like the game cause my video card drivers to shut it self down. Basically drivers stop responding. What`s odd it only happens to me with GW2. I can run any other game for instance BF3, Far Cry3 on high/ultra settings for hours and my computer is stable and does not crash. Temperatures are fine.. In my opinion there must be something wrong with coding but I`m not an expert, just please fix this game, as many people are having those issues.

P.S Anet get in touch with Nvidia,so they can help you with solution.

In an update to the situation, I’ve been going back and forth with NCSoft support for days, and they have yet to find a fix for the problem. They’ve told me to change my CPU power allowance, give them Speccy readings to prove that my temps are alright three times, and told me to ensure my bios is not down throttling the CPU. So far, nothing has made one shred of difference.

here is a customer support in WoT
“Partly fixed issue of NVIDIA 309 and newer drivers conflict with WoT client which sometimes could result in a crash”

I got a feeling that some of the gaming developers having a deal with video card manufactures .. “let`s create a problem so they need to get a new video card”, then we buy one, install it and the problem still exists.. we`ll let`s get a new system then… oh my god.. the problem is still there even with a new setup.. our money spent makes them happy.
P.S why to fix something that you`ve already spent money for.

Me and many others are in exactly the same boat hence the 3 or 4 ongoing threads on this issue. Game crashes with no video input and no way of getting out except hard reboot. Have also tried many other taxing games to stress my card and have experienced no problems suggesting that this is an incompatibility issue rather than hardware failure and from reading other posts on the issue it seems that this problem only started for many people about 2 months ago after recent patching. The suggested ‘fix’ that anet have released doesnt help a bit and until it is i think im going to have to take a break from the game as it is just stressing me out having to reboot every 10 mins.

I have a brand new ASUS Gaming Notebook (750JW) with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 765M and I’m getting the hard crash after a few minutes of gameplay – game freezes, screen goes black, fans go into overdrive, and I have to hard reboot. This happens when I have the graphical settings on ‘auto-detect’.

I’ve been able to get the game to run without crashing by putting all the graphical settings on low, however, I’m confident this computer should be able to run GW2 a bit higher than the lowest settings without crashing. :-)

My PC temps are fine. My GFX card sits around 50 and my CPU sits around 60. So that’s out of the question. There is no way my PSU or RAM is bad as this would also happen outside of GW2.

This is just a long list of why Gw2 (Anet) sucks. At launch it was way worse.

I have the exact same PC and at launch i got like 20 FPS on the lowest settings so i quit. Came back a week ago and now i get 60 FPS on ultra and they told me it was my PC, aint that something. Blame us and not themselves.

Just had it happen again within 10 mins.

Once screen goes black one goes white.

I’m done playing this game until they acknowledge the problem.

I’m not going to break my PC because of this games poor optimization.

I have an nvidia 430 and im experiencing something similar to everyone else. My GW2 will cause my screen to go black about every 5 minutes. In some cases I can play for about an hour before I hit crashes. I sent my PC for a cleanup and virus check last week and it was already in good condition.

I am having the same dang problem. I have been fine up until their patch this past week. It started when I was running around the Bazaar, namely the Cutthroat Candidate quests. It now happens in WvWvW. My system is fairly powerful and runs all other games peachy. Come to GW2 and it’s like all hell breaks lose. I am crashing within mere minutes – it has gotten worse and worse and worse. Even had a BSOD at one point.

I run my settings at high. I tried turning Anti-Aliasing off today in case that was causing any problems. After I did that, I started noticing words were beginning to disappear in the menu, the sure sign from past crashing experiencing that things were down the toilet – I tried to pre-emptively stop the game from locking up my system by clicking what I thought was “log out” but it didn’t matter. It thumbed it’s nose at me and blacked screened on me, freezing up my computer.

Here’s my system information:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~4.2GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8140MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
Display Memory: 4095 MB
Dedicated Memory: 3054 MB
Shared Memory: 1041 MB
Current Mode: 1920 × 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)

I am sure I left some stuff out. There is no valid reason for any of us to have to jump through hoops just to get GW2 to work on our systems. This appears to be a programming problem that the GW2 programmers are not addressing immediately, as they should. PLEASE FIX THIS.

Add: I went through the motions suggested by the Tech folks under the thread that’s pinned under the Tech problem area of the forums for AMD users – all those things that should be selected were already selected. I have deleted the GW2 cache, however… So I might try to run the game back on high along with the anti-aliasing turned on and see what happens. I will keep you guys updated.

Add #2: Clearing the cache is just a bandaid. It worked for a bit, for an hour and then I crashed out, system freeze. Again, please fix this already.

This is the display drivers crashing, which in turn can cause a hardware crash and system lockup. I have the same problems using a 670gtx in this game.

Under-clocking your card can help, but it doesn’t seem to fix the problem 100% in GW2 like it does in other games, so I think the game is partly to blame. But tbh I wish manufacturers would stop selling factory overclocked cards, a lot of them are not as stable as they should be. Not all cards will overclock the same and they don’t seem to understand that.

I had been offline for
Guild wars 2 for 8 months until recently. I have been running the same system since 2009,
core i7 920 :
evga dual gtx 285 ssc sli :
evga x58 sli mobo :
Corsair dominator 1600 mem 6gig
Corsair 850tx psu

When I first came back to the game I had the stuck at 99% updated issue when the language swap to German fixed.

Next came all the drastic crashes from video driver to an all out memory crash.

Artifacting at first.
Updated drivers of course.
Enabled SLI

Crashed issue when running best appearance. Crashes 5 -10 minutes.

Like Hank no crashes on best performance, then I trial and errored what effects could be tuned up until it crashed.

Factory overclocked card, I haven’t crashed once since I tuned down the settings.

I believe I have a solution!
I’m not 100% sure this will fix your specific problem, but for me it worked.

For a few weeks now my Guild Wars 2 has been having similar issues as listed by the people before me. It would instantly crash my entire computer upon loading up the game.
So my solution (Note this is what worked for me, not necessarily will work for you)
1) Open the launcher and remove the auto-start feature (if you haven’t already)
2) Open Steam and add Gw2 as a non-steam game
3) Open Gw2 from Steam and login, then press Play.

This worked for me, let me know if this will work for you as well.

I have not had any problems with gw2 since launch…maybe an odd crash here and there which I believe is acceptable. I have played WOW in the past with no problems. Then switched to SWTOR. Could not play SWTOR properly on my system and waited for Gw2 – game has played to my liking since Aug 6th 2013 patch.

Since doing the Jublilee events – My computer just turns off. Especially when starting on the event with lots of people there. I have tried low settings – high settings. I am monitoring my temps while playing GW2 and my GPU 43C and CPU Quad core highest temps were 60-70 (my cpu specs says it should not run past 71). Only runs this hot with new patch only in gw2.

Nothing is overlocked.

You guys are beating a dead horse. Arenanet isn’t going to issue any statement because they obviously see these dozens and dozens, possibly even hundreds of people complaining about freezes or BSODs….as a non important issue. The game will be closing its one year soon and there has not been one performance update, WHICH IS WHAT THIS GAME NEEDS! From it overheating computers, screwing graphics cards/drivers, mem leaks, or buggy clients, we’ve heard it all. It is the game, not us.

I uninstalled back in May/June since those updates, and I have not had ONE issue with my PC since those freezes and BSODs while playing GW2. I was hoping to come back a few months later, thinking there would be some fixes…guess not!

GG Arenanet!

I have problems crashing as well. I check the windows log and I get a “kernel” power failure. I run every other program on my computer and nothing happens. I will be in the middle of WvW when there is a reset and there is a queue, and BAM. I can’t get back in… or I will just be doing PvE and a graphic is used and BAM… my whole system crashes. I have a 600Hz PSU with the correct voltage. My computer manufacturer wants to have me send the WHOLE system back for testing and replace what might be the problem. They said give them 2 to 3 weeks, in the meantime, I have a job to do and I need my computer to do it. Is it worth it to be without my computer for a game that keeps crashing my sytem? No, but I need some answers, and I hope GW2 steps up for I might just be convinced that I can’t effectively be a part of the MMO community of theirs. I mean… who wants a guy in their group that randomly crashes?

If you can, try to borrow a PSU from a friend(700w or higher) and see how that goes.
I replaced a PSU on my old system and it fixed the kernel power failure, although that might not be the answer to your problem it is definitely worth a shot.

Similar problem. Playing for half an hour or so, graphics on best appearance. GPU temp at 50 degrees. Radeon 7850.

Most recently this has happened with the invasion events, however lowering the graphic quality to best performance practically eliminates this problem, however why own such a nice card.

The crash I’m experiencing is short sound loops and usually a colored screen with vertical lighter lines. I can only get out by hard resetting.

I’ve read that the video ram is over heating, I can’t tell what the temp is, but that may be one of the issues. But I would presume that the very nature of changing the graphic quality directly relates to the frequency of crashes this most likely is video card related. However I have no idea where to go from here as many of you seem just as stuck.

Same problem here.
When I try launching the game I have this error message:

—> Crash <—
Assertion: texGenCount <= arrsize(key.texGen)
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Gr\Dx9\Dx9ShaderCache.cpp(362)
App: Gw2.exe
[…]

I’ve tried repairing the game, re-installing DX, other drivers: EVERYTHING.
But anything changed.

I don’t know if this could help but, the only way I can play is setting the game compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

I have been experiencing the same exact symptoms when running GW2 after this latest patch as the OP.

I’ve had it BlueScreen once or twice before today, but with this latest patch (I had not logged into the game since 9/14 and it had done the crash/reboot once in a 5 hour period on a different character) I cannot play for more than about 15-25 min (different each time) before it crashes the PC and the PC reboots. The problem event name that Windows gives is ‘BlueScreen’.

All drivers are up to date. The opening it from Steam suggestion did not work.

Investigating the event viewer, it is Event 41, Kernel-Power, Critical Error each time. A fourth time playing had it going for almost an hour before crashing and then rebooting the PC. I have been using the same character each time.
