Is 1440P Playable?
Well, I run 2560×1440 on significantly lower specs than that, and find it tollerable to play. So you should be fine. I see 10FPS worst case (eg: busy world boss), 30 to 45FPS the rest of the time. I do enforce vsync, too, because tearing messes with me.
You might want to lower character model/quality ( Heavy on the cpu ) to medium or so if you notice drops when you switch to 1440p.
GW2’s performance at 1440P is fine. It’s often/generally CPU limited anyways

I play 1440p on an FX 6300. I only see issues in major zergfests – ie: WvW, World Bosses, etc
Well I thought I would give DSR ago on my 980ti and it was very playable still was still hitting 60+ and looked Great
Just another quick question about temps
I am running a 6700K at boost clock to 4.2Gh with a H100I water-cooler
is around 50-55C while playing Guild Wars 2
Idle is 23C
I’d say your temps are fine imo,im using amd myself so not sure what the treshold is on intel,i believe it allows much higher temps before shutdown than amd aswell. But 50 – 55 is nothing to worry about.
Boost clock is some auto overclock mode ? If so you might want to do everything manually so you can lower your temps and maybe get a better overclock aswell. But i’d recommend going to a site like http://www.overclock.net/ and check in their forums what the most optimal settings are for your cpu coupled with the mobo you own. Some mobo’s allow cpu’s to reach much higher and stable oc’s than others do,so it’s recommended to search based on your mobo + cpu.

I have an intel 6600K @ 4.8GHz it runs at 36 – 42c whilst play GW2 using a Corsair H80i GT. your temps range is nothing to worry about however I would expect better cooling from a 240mm cooler compare to 120mm cooler especially if your not pushing your CPU that hard.
Perhaps check your BIOS and make sure things like Core Voltage are not on AUTO, many motherboards seem to like to max out voltage when the cpu is under load.
specifically this would happen to my cpu under stock settings at 3.9GHz the voltage would hit 1.452v which is crazy considering @ 4.8GHz the cpu I use now only needs around 1.38v

I am playing 1440p with max settings. No problems so far.
For crowded places i am setting “Character Model Limit” and “Character Model Quality” to lowest. With that i am getting +40 Fps everywhere. (With max fps gets down to 10fps)
For empty places usally 144 fps. (=Monitor fps)
