Is Gw2 Extra Laggy Today?
If you are in EU then it is normal to have unplayable lag from time to time. It should fix itself in a few minutes/hours.
I’m having some lag too, mostly all morning. US here.
Yes extra laggy for me today (18 May). I’m on US server and verizon fios. My ping is all over the place. I usually average <50ms ping but today its jumping anywhere from 70 to 2k ping. The average ping is around 400 which is driving me nuts. I have respect for those in Asia who play with average of 200+.
I’m experiencing this both in wvw and pvp.
I’m on US servers and i normally average around 30 to 50 ping, but today i am average 300 to 400 and it is spiking up to over 1000 ping.
Lag Wars 2 today. On Verizon in MD and, while I normally have 50-60 fps, I have been between 80 and 4000 ping today. I have literally never had this problem before even though I have been playing since launch. Does anyone know a short term fix until they figure out the issue so that I can play?
I’m US and also on verizon fios. No packet loss. It is as if I am playing on a EU server.
Ping average ~350 spiking to 4k.
Washington DC and on Verizon FiOS. Also seeing crazy ping spikes. Probably ISP side
Usually 50ms ping. Today 150ms-2000ms ping, terrible spikes. Optimum Online.

Same here. It’s been like this since Saturday.

Sadly I don’t think it is a ISP issue, as others on different ISP have confirm this issue. At the moment a lot of people (mostly east coast NA) are getting routed thru telia.net(located Sweden EU) , which means your going thru EU servers before you reach Anet. This started to happen when some log in servers went down on Anet’s side, so odds are high the it is Anets fault.

Having unusual lag as well today, east coast US with Verizon FiOS. First occurrence of any issue with my FiOS so not sure if they are to blame or something going on Anet side.

The only one that showed higher ping for me than the rest was a TWC ip, which is my ISP. I saw up to 2.8k ping today on gw2, which is a record for me lol.
I logged back in just now and it seems to be working a lot better now. crosses fingers
Edit: Nevermind, I’m still getting ping spikes.

Using www.ip-adress.com I checked the general area of each of the telia.net servers and as far as I can tell they are all in Europe. while my MS is low jumping around between Europe and west coast US doesn’t help. I also ran a tracert using http://www.monitis.com/traceroute/ where you can visually see the jumps between Europe and North America.
EDIT: Well I even have a week old tracer routes and path ping save for Anet servers and none ever went thru telia.net. They would go from alter.net directly to Anet servers and not jump to Europe before going to Anet servers in Dallas.

New York City, Cablevision. I thought it was my own internet but after reading these posts I am sure it isn’t. I’ve run tests against sites like google, pandora, yahoo, reddit and everything is pinging fine. I hope we get an answer/fix soon

What did you use to find this? iplocation.net/ is the only one which gave me this kind of result. every other site says they are all in EU.

Honestly I don’t understand what is going on but as of right now telia.net seems to be taking me all over the place( from Virginia to New York than to Dallas and Atlanta, there after back to Dallas). My ping has been jumping between 500 ping to 300 ping and I have also notice a change in my pathing as before after alter.net it would go directly to 65.205.119.210 (Ncsoft Corporation IP):
6 39 ms 40 ms 40 ms GigabitEthernet4-0-0.GW12.DFW9.ALTER.NET [152.63

11 39 ms 40 ms 41 ms 64.25.33-79.ncsoft.com [64.25.33.79]
I don’t know if its related or not but for me 65.205.119.210 is down which would explain the routing thru telia.net. As the ISP is trying to find other ways into Ncsoft and I hope whatever the issue is resolve soon as the game is unplayable at the moment.
Yeah my ping has been crazy today, anywhere from 50 all the way to 2000. I haven’t really had any issues in the past with ping. Everything checks out OK with my internet connection. I wasn’t having any issues with it until about 11pm EST.
I wish anet would at least give us an official response. Even if it was a simple “We’re aware of the issue and are working to fix this”. As it stands I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs because the game is unplayable.

Try DOTA 2. I’m playing that with <10 ms ping but I keep checking GW2 periodically, but alas, still having ping issues there.

On the west coast (PST) and the lag spikes are over 1000 with a ping average of 175+ atm in Frostgorge. Whatever the problem is its not fixed yet.
