So guys I’m thinking of buying a new PC but i don’t have a lot of money, I have around 500 $ but as long as i’m going to build an entire new pc i won’t have money for Intel I5 etc. My current PC is not good at all, I play GW2 with 20-30 fps, in crowded area i’m getting 5-10 fps which is unplayable.
Could AMD FX6300 get me decent 60 FPS ?

I had an FX-6350 and can tell you it’s not gonna make wonders. You will get around 20fps in zergs, and around 30-40fps in Divinity’s Reach near bank for example. Open world areas are better with around 50-60 fps in some zones, but the average with all settings maxed out at 1080p gonna be around 40fps (that is if you have a decent GPU that won’t bottleneck the CPU). The game seems to hate AMD processors. I switched to a 4790K and the difference is miles ahead, getting almost triple the performance. So my advice is wait until you get more money and get an i5 at least.

Wrong forum, I think, try Players helping Players, if a mod doesn’t move this there anyway.

From personal experience, no. I got between 10 and 30 (in less frequented or empty areas) when I played with this one as well as my own PC (with an FX8150). Might be that it was other components in the system that played a part in this, too, but since GW2 is harder on the CPU than anything else, a 6300 isn’t the best choice. AMD in general, really.

If you can save up a little more money and/or use parts of your old PC (like the harddrive or CD drive, maybe the power supply, I don’t know what you have right now), you might be able to go for an Intel after all. This thread has some suggestions; it’s a year old, so those PCs might be cheaper now than they were then. Some of the parts aren’t available anymore, but I guess there’s plenty of similarly-priced substitutes.

in short not. All AMD FX CPU’s are not good for this game in its current state. This games performance is determined by the single thread performance of your CPU.

And as you can see the FX8350 is pretty bad compared to all of Intels CPUs, and your FX6300 is not as good as the FX8350.

Basically the AMD FX architecture puts two low(er) performing cores in a package that each can do one thread but if it is only processing one thread, can’t use any of the resources in the 2nd core. Intel’s tack is have a single very powerful core that could squeeze additional performance out when processing a two threads (i3/i7).

Now the FX-8350 and the Intel i7-2600K have similar performance in Cinemark when running 8 threads but lets see how each get there.

Intel i7-2600K: 20.8% – 41.7% – 62.5% – 83.3% – 87.5% – 91.7% – 95.9% -100%
AMD FX-8350: 15.6% – 31.3% – 46.9% – 62.5% – 71.9% – 81.2% – 90.6% – 100%

Now AMD scales overall performance more linear than Intel but when a program doesn’t have a lot of CPU intensive threads, like GW2, the difference is a lot, like Intel being 1/3 faster. And that’s 2 generations old, it’s closer to 55% faster today.

I would look for a system built around an i5-4xxx rather than an FX hex core. There is a reason why the FX systems are less expensive.

The incremental cost should be less than $150 over an AMD FX-6 series in terms of parts.
