Anet pls take a look at that, my main is a engi and I start to play him less and less cause the stupid explosisions cut myfps in half !

Grenade engineers are a pain for me to deal with, not because they’re so hard to play against but because my FPS drops below 10. I don’t get FPS this low anywhere else in the game except for these smoke effects.. It would be nice if Arenanet could take a look at this.

This is gamebreaking, I’d really want to hear ETA for a fix.

I am experiencing the smoke issue too. This wasn’t a problem a few months back.

FE and COF entrance when zoning in is a major fps drop for me. No changes as with so many patches, still the same.

Getting the massive fps drops as well when zoomed into grenade explosions or any smoke effect for that matter, but I don’t expect this to be fixed at all.

This is game breaking… on an i5 with another gts460 gfx card. I see a pattern emerging here

I want to confirm that this issue is very prevalent at the CoF Entrance.
Right after opening the gate in explorable mode, looking into the expanse.

Since there is so much smoke in the distance it makes the game chug.
Will edit with screenshots later when I can.

i have this problem too. i assumed it was my “older” video card (nvidia 460gtx like the OP) but it looks like people with newer cards are having the issue too?

Some of the spammiest particle effects probably involve about as much pixel processing and render output as the rest of the scene combined, given the right camera angles.

Any GPU that was just enough for decent framerates in normal gameplay is going to choke when those start hitting the screen.
