Technical Support

I’ve seen this posted all over the forums and I thought, rather than try to re-invent the wheel I would create a sticky for it since it is all good information and should fix most issues players will run into with the Mac Client. I’ve added a couple things here and there to help out with the flow of the document and some steps we use with tickets.

Thanks go out to Kyllaa for putting this little bit of info together and providing help to the Mac community in general.

I would recommend trying out all the steps on this list for any issues you may be encountering with the Mac client.

1.) Run software update to ensure all drivers and OS are up to date. (Remember the Mac client requires the latest version of 10.7 or above)

2.) Try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first.
(Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility)

3.) Repair the client install
Open Terminal
Type the following:

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider --use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

4.)If it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.

The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.

5.) Rest your SMC and PRAM:
To reset the SMC please follow the instructions provided on the following web page.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

The NVRAM/PRAM is what stores certain settings to allow your OS to access them quickly. I would like to ensure that none of these settings are interfering with the game being able to launch. Please note that resetting the NVRAM/PRAM will also reset these settings which may include resolution and volume among other information.

To reset the NVRAM/PRAM follow the instructions below:

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (?), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the start-up sound for the second time.
5. Release the keys.

NOTE – Resetting NVRAM/PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

6.) If none of these steps are able to resolve your issue please refer to the Sticky post on submitting a support ticket, and reference this post so we know what steps you’ve done already.
