For some reason I had much better FPS and FPS consistency with the previous patch (October 9th-October 12th). I’m guessing it was probably active for about 2-3 days before it was patched and my FPS sort of went went back to normal (stuttering/generally low FPS considering my rig). I’m wondering if this had to do with some sort of Crossfire fix.

Specs:

Radeon 6990 4gb
8gb RAM
i7 @ 3.80 ghz

I wanted to let you guys (ANet) know so that maybe I’d get to see some sort of permanent fix for the strange performance issues I have with this game. The Oct 9th (or so)-Oct 12th patch was amazing – something was different here and I just want you to know that.

Thanks

Bump !
Noticed microstutter issues in 15,718 (hotfix) 11-10-12 with shadows on ultra.

How to reproduce:
Shadows Ultra, pick a spot with lots of shadows/grass, start walking/twitching camera.

Behavior:
Microstutter on walking/loading assets, fps all over the place (unstable), jerky camera when moved.

Workaround: :
Shadows High.

Side note:
Never noticed a issue with pre-builds, worth checking out.

Specs:
i7 3770K
32GB @800 Vengeance LP
ENGTX570 DC2 Whql 306.97(clean)
OCZ Agility3 120GB
Seagate 3TB 64MB Sata3
Win64U X64 No swap, Superfetch, no parking, Hyperformance -D -H.

Optimus and Crossfire are nuked in this patch somehow, some way.

Edit: just tested 306.23Whql, more stable (very less noticable, micro microstutter)
Seems to be a combination of latest patch (hotfix 11-10/wonky 306.97Whql drivers)

Same issue with the shadows on ultra, very noticeable frame rate stutter (when turning camera) since the Oct-11-12 patch.

yeah, i confirm this, you can sort of fix it using radeon pro, set a profile for the game and set the xfire mode to super tile, this doubles or triples my fps in black citadel, whatever they did, nuked the profile amd had setup.

from what i read the game needs work to be properly xfire/sli compatable, amd and nvidia are doing their best to make profiles but…anet didnt bother testing with dual card setups during dev so they made a game thats not well optimized for single cards, let alone dual/tri/quad setups.

I love this game, but……from the FOV issues and excuses to not give us a slider to the lack of support for multi card setups….just frustrating since they did ensure the game worked with eyefinity/surround…….(multi monitor setups)

I just hope they can fix it….and that they either add an fov slider or allow the camara tool at some point……i got some friends who cant play due to fov sickness….who wont just use the tool because they dont want banned….(they did test it and found it fixed their problem tho…)

just a fyi people, since the nvidia forums are dead still, notify your card vendor if the new drivers make things unstable.

the vendors often have support personal who are in direct communication with nvidia.

Other testing:
Other games tested with 306.97Whql, no other problems detected (microstutters)
(most cases improved fps, only need to wait till Ps2 comes up again after new patch)
Arma,TW2,Tl2,Dishonered,WoW.

in Gw2 its exponential with ultra shadows/latest patch.

better to much info then none :P

This issue still persists, with shadows on ultra when rotating the camera there are significant fps stutters. The issue did not occur until the patch before the halloween update.

I honestly gave up running shadows on Ultra. It just never remains consistent. One minute it is smooth the next it will stutter. Same thing happens to me often with LOD on Ultra and Reflections on All. I don’t understand how one minute I’ll have 60fps on ultra, and then the next 35fps (same conditions, no large battles, just out in the world)
