Guild Wars 2

Hello,

I’ve been in contact with Guild Wars 2 Support who so far have not been able to identify or help me with my problem.

My PC runs every other game fine, with zero issues — except from Guild Wars 2, where I experience a black screen crash (‘no signal’ from monitor) at random points in story missions or certain dungeon instances.

This has grown increasingly annoying and I have tried a plethora of fixes, from clearing and repairing game files to disabling Turbo Boost on my CPU.

Anyone else had issue with this and could help? Or just add to the discussion with your own input? Thanks

Please post your complete system specs and your gw2 crash logs (located under my documents/guild wars 2).

I think that I might have the same issue.
The problem however is that there is no crash report, as far as i can tell the game and the rest of the computer keeps running normally it’s just that the screen “disconnects” at some random points (and no commands work e.g. ctrl+alt+delete / alt+f4 / ctrl+shift+esc), usually during movie sequences like sylvani and norn intro movies and Ascalonian Catacombs intro. (human and charr intros seems to work)
Note that there is no issue during the conversation “movies” or sequences. I have noticed that if i quickly alt+tab to get out of the “movies” before it crashed i can see the temperature for my graphics card rise rapidly but stays low if i stay in “desktop-mode”.

I usually have the graphic settings maxed out and suffer no other issues but even if i lower the graphic settings and screen resolution to the lowest possible it still crashes during these sequences.
My graphics card is a Radeon HD7700 and i am using the latest drivers 13.4 but i have also tested with 12.10 and have the same issue on both.
6 GB of RAM and a Intel dual core processor

Same problem here. The support team has been very nice but so far unable to fix this problem. My computer has never had any problems with any other games. I’ve tried a clean install of Windows, multiple driver reinstalls, connecting directly to the modem and even bought a new PSU. So far nothing has helped. I’ve really had it with this error i’m even considering to stop playing gw, it’s so frustrating when you’ve been doing a long quest only to get a error once your near the end.. And it is totally random aswell, can be 5 min into the game or 3 hours without any crashes.

I really hope they can fix this cause it really takes the fun out of this great game!

Got the same problem…is there any solution. Got a random shut down with a 5 sec sound loop.

I was having the same problem, random black screen with only alt-f4 to get out. Since I had change my language from french to english, its seem to run better. Four level later and no black screen. I hope that this resolve the problem for me.

Rather than just say “same problem”, that isn’t going to help. Let’s start posting system specs; drivers versions, etc…

I think i found solution for some ppl.

So, I had problems with my GTX 560 Ti CU card. It shuts down or put my ASUS VE237H Monitor to sleep in starting windows 7 or in Guild Wars 2 in some graphical stuff in game.

I tried to find solution for this annoying problem for looong time.
But finally got bored to try to find drivers and stuff manually without help, i first seeked MajorGeek. From there they recommended http://neptunet.net/blogi/2011/02/15/ajurit-ovatko-ajurit-ajan-tasalla/

It is finnish sorry, but that site is recommended Pelit maganize and MB magazine. Those two are major gaming/software/hardware magazines in Finland.

Usually i don’t ever NEVER use 3rd party programs to mess my computer. But this SlimDrivers is microsoft approval (WHQL) So i tried it. I have F-Secure (Like Kaspersky etc) monitoring my computer too.

Well SlimDrivers (Ver 2.2.32705.52095) found 17 old drivers in my computer! Like others may found, slim updates them automatically. Other updaters costs and are only trials and do no kitten.
But Slim is freeware. Just put email and voila, it works. (I used fake mail just in case.)

After updating (like ATI I/O Communications Processor PCI Bus Controller, AMD processors, PCI standard ISA bridge, PCI Express Standard Root Port, Storage controllers, Network adapters and Realtek audio etc.)

I stressed few hours my computer in different situations, overclocked my CPU and GPU. No problems so far.

So i hope this helps somebody. Please ask if something is wrong etc.

And no, i am NOT marketing or like that this program. I just find it useful.

I seem to be having to same problem.
My monitor just goes black, then no signal then into standby mode.I have to turn off my power supply to reboot. Ive tried updating all out of date drivers via SlimDrivers and i still get the issue.
Ive tried to deliberately cause it to happen but sometimes it will do it after a few mins then other times it can be a few hours, i can be in a major city or event, or i can be in the middle of nowhere leveling a lowbie alt
any help would be most appreciated

Getting the same bug. Game used to run fine on my system, haven’t played in like 6 months or so, came back, started crashing. None of the fixes out there right now seem to make a difference for me.

I am having the exact same problem on a machine that was freshly built with a new install of Windows 7. If I leave GW2 running it will not auto log out and after a while it will black out my screen and hang the computer. The only way to get the screen back up is to power off the machine. All my drivers, Intel chipset, BIOS, NVidia, etc. are up to date.

It seems to be associated with GW2 not auto logging out and the computer trying to go into sleep mode but I’m not 100 sure on this.

Hi Saddlebear, I have encountered the problem for the past few weeks. These few days my game is running fine.

If you have overclocked your graphic card maybe you can try restore it back to the default clock speed.

For those with nVidia cards, can you try rolling back to this driver?
