No shadows?
heres a better example. First picture is everything on ultra except shadows which are on low and the second is everything on ultra. It just takes them away, and it even makes performance worse rather then better dispite losing shadows lol
anyone at all know?
hmm interesting, I’m gonna have to test this and see if it does this for me as well….
what’s your video card etc?
asus g57j is my laptop
Radeon hd 5870
intel i7 2.33ghz
6gb ram
im playing on a laptop so i know performance isnt going to be the greatest which doesnt bother me as i have the frame limiter set to 30. it never drops below 25 or exceeds it even though it says 30 is the limiter lol
something is definitely wonky. I just tried it and did not see the same results, shadow options worked normally. It’s almost like yours is…backwards.
Is it a mobile 5870? Drivers up to date? (current Catalysts are 12.8)

(assuming Win7 x64)
it’s almost as if it’s not translating the shadow draw distance right. Like its doing the far off shadows for Ultra, but not the ones close in a weird backwards effect.
is it just one zone or everywhere?
Freshly reformat and updated to play gw2 lol. Unless drivers came out in the last 2 days it should be up to date.
And iTs everywhere I go. Reflections work fine. And everything looks as though it’s working. Just shadows not showing up
On my phone ATM lol I’m at work xD
And Yes it’s the mobile version. Radeon HD 5780m
Might just be an odd bug with that chipset. I’ve seen stuff like that before on my old laptop years ago (old Nvidia 8600m GT), and it makes absolutely no sense.
might just have to live with it or use ‘High’ instead of Ultra assuming High still renders all the shadows.
I myself use High over Ultra on my desktop even as the visual difference seems minimal but the performance is noticable.
Yeah living with it is what I’ll do I guess and high doesnt even render shadows. Seems to be with dynamic shadows as all shadows that are stationary work fine lol. Low and disabled are the only setting I see shadows on xD
