I’ve tried several times to purchase Path of Fire on my account after my fiance has purchased it on his account yet every time I try I get “Payment Authorisation Failure”. I sent in a ticket to support and they told me to try another time or buy from one of their affiliated retailers (who by the way aren’t selling the Ultimate edition and that’s what I want to purchase) because apparently my transaction is “high risk” yet didn’t explain why it was. I’ve tried different browsers, in game, two different cards and paypal, my fiance has even tried buying it for me from the shop to send me the serial code and now it won’t even let him purchase. Is this something related to IP since he already bought his? Becoming incredibly frustrated and felt like the support answer was rubbish and could have been looked into further, I’ve sent a follow up message but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this?
Try buying using your phone browser but not connected to your wifi. That should bypass any IP related issues.
Good idea, tried it and still says payment authorisation failed so can’t be an IP issue.
Maybe something about your account got flagged… either from the early failures, or something else. What about getting someone else (not your fiancee) to buy for you and sending you the serial code? E.g. parent, sibling, friend
If they live at a different address, use their own credit card and don’t even have GW2; that should eliminate many reasons for failure.
Possibly, it’s still frustrating though. I dont particularly want to have to bother anyone else with it because it’s not their problem. Hopefully Arena Net will have replied to my issue by the morning and I can sort it. I’ve never had any problems purchasing from my account before now
I had this issue myself (buying multiple copies of PoF to give away)
Wait a few hours and try purchasing again, that did the trick for me
I’ve been trying to buy PoF for 3 days and I’m getting the same thing. Payment Authorization Failed.
Looking around the web, it seems to be a common issue with Digital River.
Yeah I suppose I forgot to mention that this has been over the course of 2 days now. Really don’t know what the issue is. Got a reply this morning from aNet asking me to try and purchase in game again.
For me it doesn’t work in game either. It just flashes an error in red really fast and then shows a blank page.
It’s getting annoying.

Same Haishao, finally got on the PC to try again as they instructed in the email and nothing. I want the ultimate edition so I can’t purchase it anywhere else, hoping they’ll reply with an actual fix because it’s getting on my nerves now. I have tonnes of gem purchases etc. so I don’t see why this is such an issue.
Same problem here. I am trying to purchase my copy of Path of Fire, but getting that error every time.
Have you tried through a Partner Program Participant? You can purchase Ultimate Editions there, and it might be a different venue, so to speak.

I’ve looked online for the ultimate edition and nowhere but the guild wars 2 site is selling it. I’m in the UK, looked everywhere legitimate.

ANet have replied this morning saying they’re going to look into my attempts so hopefully it will get sorted today.
The same here for cca 3 weeks now. Been trying more browsers, ingame shop, different pcs and places. My card seems ok and i am not aware of any blockades on my account.

Great news for me, ANet had replied this morning saying that everything should be fine now and to order, so I did and it went through! Advice to anyone of you is to contact support and just ask for their assistance because it should eventually get sorted.

Did they tell you what was wrong with your transactions? It may be helpful to everyone else having this issue.
Nope they told me that they couldn’t tell me why the transactions wouldn’t go through because it would reveal how they track fraudulent transactions.
I think that’s still useful info for the rest of us. Knowing we can unintentionally trip thier fraud detection gives an extra possible reason when trying to troubleshoot this problem.

So solved on my side. It was some error within my card setttings. I reset limits and it went ok.
