Guild Wars 2

Okay, so here’s the deal; I played GW2 a long while back, and decided to use my lv 80 boost on a warrior. I played that warrior for a while, then took another break.

Now that I’ve returned I want to go through all lands again, just to finally get that 100% map completion (for the first time), but ever since my return I’ve had this ANNOYING pop-up in the lower left of my screen, telling me my current ability is fully trained and can be leveled.

No matter HOW MANY TIMES I’ve hit that close button, it just keeps popping up whenever I get a WHIFF of XP, and I’m desperate to turn it off. By now I know that I’m ready to hit the expansion, but I don’t want to yet!

Please, halp!

Are you talking about Mastery Points?

In the lower left’s the pop-up that keeps popping up, which refuses to stay away once I click it to close.

And this window’s what appears when I actually click where that arrow’s incessantly pointing. My biggest guess is that this has to do with the first expansion, but I really don’t wanna have to do the first quest, then switch back to the rest of the normal campaign, only to then AFTER completing the main story pick up the expansion quest-line again.

Well..It’s either do the beginner mission just to unlock masteries(not sure what mission it was) or request anet redesign a bunch of code for one persons outlier situation, a situation that should change organically on its own in little time.

This was moreso a request to see if there was an option to disable these kinds of popups than to request a change in code. If it’s true that there isn’t a way to disable it I’ll have no choice but to do the first Expansion Mission, yeah.

Oh I see! Can’t get ingame atm but is their an option to “Disable Hints and Tips” or something similar?

There is! And I have disabled it, yet it STILL keeps popping up. Considering I’ve barely seen any other kinds of popups, I figured this one would fall under that option, but it doesn’t.

Hardly an outlier; this has been reported countless times. It only started occuring after a particular patch a few months ago. Hopefully, the Devs can address it sooner or later.

It says you have 0 points. Did you earn any or spend them all? There are the red ones and the green ones you can earn then spend.

Precisely, which is what’s so strange and even frustrating. The game is telling me I’m ABLE to do something, but then doesn’t give me the option to because I haven’t done and don’t yet WANT to do something else.

Unfortunately, there is only one way to solve this: Open the Hero Panel, select the Story Journal tab, select the first episode of Heart of Thornes, select “Play this Episode” and play through the first story mission.

This will unlock Masteries so you can level them. It’s what I had to do, too, even though I did not want to get a massive spoiler. It’s a shame ArenaNet still hasn’t found a way to have Masteries unlock automatically upon buying HoT on that account.
