I recently attempted to install the game, the game installer will launch and download the game without faults and once I attempt to press play the launcher will close and after a second it will send an error report and a tab telling me my game has crashed. I have tried to install the game twice now, and on the first time starting up the game will actually launch into the character select screen and then crash a second later before it loads my characters. After that first time it will act exactly how I described it before.

Downloaded the game on 64 bit and 32 bit with same issues
I am running Windows 10 64 bit
Uninstalled and reinstalled my Graphic’s Card updates
Downloaded the latest version of the launcher and game

I am sending DxDiag file to hopefully help.

If you receive a GW2 error report screen, click the ‘Show Details’ and post the first part of the information.

Good luck.

The latest update for Windows 10 has a problem with overlays. Disable the sharing/overlay/shadowplay features in GeForce Experience, if installed, and any other overlays, like the built-in Xbox app. One of the crashes was caused by Air Display, so check that.

You can try to force the game into windowed mode using:
Gw2-64.exe -windowed

GW2 saves it crash report as %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ArenaNet.log

Try doing a repair client. There are instructions on this website. Also what kind of computer do you have and the specs?

Funny enough I have Geforce Experience, Xbox App, and Air Display. I have disabled all 3 of them and have tried to launch and still have problems.

The crash reports are never sent because the “Guild Wars 2 Has Crashed” box overlays the error report and wont allow me to even click the error report at all. The last crash report I have in arenanet.log is from 2015

I have tried the repair client and also tried deleting the local files as the support page suggests and still nothing. The only time anything else changes is when I uninstall the game completely and re-download. On the very first time pressing play once downloaded again the game launches into the character select screen for a few seconds and before it loads my characters the game crashes. After this happens it never loads the game again.

I’m running a GTX 970
Ryzen 7 1700
8 gigs of ram
Windows 10 64 bit

I just had this problem and i was able to solve it by going to settings in widows then go to gaming and turn off the game bar recording options and disable the game bar altogether. This fixed my problem and let me log in.

Search the start menu for and open the event viewer. Look under Windows / Application for errors involving GW2. The details may give you a hint about the problem. For a sample, look at the bottom of the DxDiag.txt you attached for APPCRASH, which involved AirDisplay and nvStereo.

To rule out most other software, open msconfig (search the start menu). Under the services tab, disable all non-Microsoft services and under the startup tab, open the task manager and disable everything. OK out of msconfig and reboot. Delete the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars2/, which is where Local.dat is stored. Try it.

Rename Gw2-64.exe to Gw2.exe. If you already have a Gw2.exe, rename it to Gw2-32.exe. Right click Gw2.exe, select properties and set the compatibility for Windows 7 or 8. In the folder with Gw2.exe, append the following to the address bar, then press enter to launch the game:
\Gw2.exe -windowed -nosound

Bud I owe you a beer. I had uninstalled Air Display using “Add and Remove programs” and assumed it was completely gone, then I used the event viewer and saw file AirDisplayWDDM.dll was causing the game to crash, ended up searching my computer files and deleting the file and now it boots.
