Why is there a profanity filter in the game if I still get routinely banned for swearing? I don’t understand giving people the option to see profanity or not, yet still suspending the players that use profanity.

This makes no sense to me.

The profinity filter is in place for those that choose to not see profanity at all. It is not a license to swear. Anet has stated before that an occasional slip in the heat of the moment or what not will not result in suspension. However, excessive profanity or profinity used in an abusive manner will earn you a time out.

If you are earning regular suspensions perhaps consider modifying your behavior. Eventually those suspensions could result in a permanent ban.

There’s two kinds of profanity. “Oh, kitten, I hate this kittening jumping puzzle!” is unlikely to be a problem. You’re not directing it at anyone.

“You’re a kittening kitten who kittens kittens” is probably going to be a problem.
