Reserve space after disconnect
That feature was very nice in the original GW. I could also see it being very nice here.
In gw1 it was important because each map was an isolated instance for up to 8 players. In gw2? It’s only important for event credit and things related to specific map progression. That being said, it’s not unreasonable to not have it. There are, that I can count off at the moment, only a handful of situations where it’s wanted, not needed. Teq, TT, temples, SW, and Drytop.
The only reason people “need” such a thing is so that someone else doesnt take their spot. Frankly it’s a bit of a “tough kitten” situation. Sure it’s possible to do. Why should anet do it? Because your internet’s crap? Get better/different service. Down under a rock and have a high latency because you’re on the wrong server?* Play on the right server or just deal with it.
Also. Is it unacceptable because you couldnt get on the same map with your friends/guild/whatever? Or is it unacceptable because you couldnt get back on the same map that would give you loot? It’s a good distinction to make before you demand something.
*I feel sorta bad for aussies not having their own regional server, last I heard, a dingo ate it.
I think its a good idea, keep a slot open for 3 minutes, when they re-log into the same character, they end up in the map they left. I’ve been disconnected near the very end on a map quite a few times when my internet service had a spell of random disconnects (it lasted 6 months, it was horrible). Sure it might make full maps slightly harder to get into, but as the guy above me stated, “deal with it.”

Yeah something like this would be great
For a wvw player it should be awesome. Or even would be nice if we wont be forced to stand in q if we change character
Just the WvW

I agree This problem happens to me at least once a week and it’s super annoying.

How about because their archaic game crashes if it uses like 1/4 my total RAM. Or because they release updates and everything is unstable for the next fortnight.
Not wanting to lose rewards for things you’ve already contributed to is not a bad reason. Even if someone did d/c because their internet was crap, so what? Is there some reason that slot needs to be filled immediately by someone who only just now decided to show up, instead of a few minutes later by a player who was already there?

A lot of the disconnects are actually because of Anet. People are getting disconnected when their internet is perfectly fine, normal ~20 ms latency, etc.
When anet introduced the new tequatl it bothered me a lot of times that I got dc’s. I switched every setting ingame to the lowest possible, since then I had no dc at all.
Now I actually like these dc’s because I get very often one of these spots during sw/teq/worm and so I don’t have to wait 30-60 minutes without doing something for these encounters.
