hello my client starts off at like 30kb /s then drops to 0kbps. It also starts up again but like 5kbps then back to 0. Eventually stopping and saying connection issue retrying. Yesterday it was working fine 3000kbps. I tried the dns thing. Also tried firewall. Thank You.

Same here…. I dont think it is on our end. This happened last patch too.

the client also like freezes where i cant close it with out using task manager and ending the task.

and yes i tried flushing DNS and no firewalls. Last major patch it worked for me at 11est as i was about to go to bed.

Woot i made it up to 100 kb /s before it went all the way back down… progress

i think i made a mistake by deleting the game.

Yes can confirm client freezes and i have to shut it down using task manager as well

Tried the EU server Ip i found on a thread it works at about 30KB/ sec but still way too slow. It eventually goes down, but seems to be going fairly steady now between 5-30 KB/s

Same problem here. Jumps for a few secs then back to 0kbs, can’t get past 1000kb downloaded, and no progress bar showing up at all.

I think that may have at least got the installer updated – no thanks to anet…

Copy your shortcut and add the startup commands “-authsrv 206.127.159.107 -clientport 80” without the quotes to the end\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -authsrv 206.127.159.107 -clientport 80

Launch game with the new shortcut and it worked for me.

oh and dont use that shortcut to launch your game on a regular basis. In fact you can delete it when you are done.

I noticed that too when I attempted to start the client just a moment ago. I also noticed that after going to 0 the client would say a message “Error Connecting”.

Anyone else have any luck with qualms startup commands. didnt work for me

This was the exact target path i used. For some reason it made a frown face. and obviously the beginning part of your file location may be different from mine which is on my D drive. Patch is almost complete here, maybe I was just lucky.

Startup didn’t work for me either. Drops right to 0kbs after 5 seconds.

i am trying to run it from gw2setup because i deleted the game thinking that would work.

Well I made it to 2961kb that time before timing out. Anyone know how big the thing actually is? I dont even have a progress bar on mine to see.

Same here, and did everyone here patch successfully earlier today, and are just having problems with the hotfix?

I made it to 3420Kb and it stopped…how much is this stupid update?????

185mb in 35 minutes? Horrible. 99% and it froze with 3 files to go. Well, there is an hour and a half I will never get back. Is this launch day for archeage? I think i have enjoyed dentist visits more than this. If it wasn’t time for bed i would spread some wintersday cheer.

This is my first time patching today. So I’m missing the entire Wintersday update.

Anet….please fix your patcher. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. I would love to get in the game and play it.

Im guessing dns servers are just overloaded? I have friends in the game that keep getting booted also.

same issue here, it is loading so slow. I hate that it gets faster and faster just before it completely bottoms out and crashes.

it’s at least 12000kb, i looked away when it finished. I got mine to work using the startup shortcut qualm posted. Once i got to log in screen though it failed to connect to log in servers and told me to restart…

Yeah I’m having this issue as well, I haven’t been able to get past 1500 kbs downloaded, and it will spike around but always go down to zero, and after a while it will just say connection error. I just got back into GW 2 and hit 80 sad faaaaaace xD Any one have any solid ways of getting around this?

Just adding my name to the list of players having problems with the hotfix update.

Had absolutely zero problems downloading the patch earlier today. Now this hotfix gets stuck at 0kb then gives me “Connection errors detected. Retrying” and then nothing happens.

This also happened after the last patch. Had no problems downloading the patch but the hotfix gave me problems.

Edit: Forgot to add that I flushed the dns and it still doesn’t work.

I had problems updating the entire patch, not just the hotfix. I think it is their auth or update servers

There’s a similar thread going on as well. Seems everyone having this problem is in the midwest, specifically in Chicago, possibly comcast customers.

218mb 2 files remaining. I may get to see something other than the load screen before i go to bed!

I live in Chicago and I have Comcast and I’m having the same trouble.

Uverse here in ohio, possibly routed through Chicago.

Same problem here, I’m in MN. I tried the DNS flush to no avail. Just started happening today with the Wintersday patch. I updated one of my other computers last night (client was out of date on it) and it updated with no problem. I can do anything else on the Internet just fine, and I tried turning off all firewalls and AV and that didn’t help either.

EDIT: In case it helps the Gw2.exe process just sits at 25% CPU usage (split across my four cores) as it attempts to download. It just spins doing nothing until after 10 minutes I just kill the process and try again. The first time this happened (1st patch) I restarted my computer and that seemed to fix it momentarily, but the problem is back with this patch.

I’m in the Denver area (roughly), also Comcast, and having the same problem. Patched without problems, logged in a couple hours ago without problems, but now I can’t get past the initial download (the one before it starts giving you a percentage).

But also, let’s be realistic: Anet didn’t respond to any of the posts about this during the last patch. They’re not going to respond this time around, either.

MN area here with Comcast. Seems like lots of central states here…

Not working here either… Its interesting in regards to a comment that was made, I am located in the Midwest and also a Comcast customer… is there any correlation between the two?

Can we expect any support anytime soon?
