Uhmm yeah it kinda doesn’t explain it all. Resolution? cpu clock? Difference between autodetect and screen shot fps, etc…etc….
Just my opinion but 47fps is not that bad…….certainly not bad enough for an “I quit” reaction.

I dream of 47 fps and I have no issues beyond the smoky area of Dry top and a small portion in FG.

Runs fine on max settings for me with lesser specs than you. Maybe clean up your PC and get rid of all the crap you’ve probably stuffed on it?
GW2 runs amazing, they’ve done a lot of optimization already.
Step 1: update windows
No problem
my system is half as good as yours and I get high 70s FPS,
Have you tried restarting your computer?

Runs just fine on my CAD machine at work (when I’m on my lunch break of course).

In this place with such settings i have about 100fps. I5-4440 r9 270×.
Btw, why your card has such low clocks? It looks like it`s in some sort of power saving mode. Try messing around with your driver

There is nothing wrong with my PC, I have a fresh install and gw2 on a solid state drive. I do normally get 60 fps but im tired of looking at fluctuating fps depending on where I am at in the game. I can max Bioshock Infinite, Farcry , Skryim etc no problem.

I was actually amazed it ran on my crappy integrated work PC w/o lag. XD It can barely even run a game like Trove and Secret World and Warframe are 100% impossible on it. Haven’t tried any other onez.

This game is more CPU demanding than GPU, besides most games only use a few cores of the CPU, so usually an i5 with 4 cores works better than the AMD’s 8 cores because individually each core is “stronger”, that is where your setup is bottle necking.
I laughed so hard when I read your topic. Yeah go on, quit the game and blame someone for your performance. You are not the “big guy” in here to show off your machine.
Any Geforce card running at that frequency is either at power-saving state (mostly seen in laptop environment) or thermal throttling. Check your temperature, update your nvidia driver, rollback if you just did.
Anyway, it is not a reason to rage at a company and threaten to quit. Your approach just won’t work. I hope you have a peaceful life!

Which matters little since the game only needs a few cores to run and the FX-8350’s individual core performance is relatively poor in comparison to even AMD’s previous generation of cores and is sad when compared to Intel’s. Bet you could turn those graphic settings up to the high default and see only a slight loss in frame rate as the game doesn’t really stress the GPU.

With this setup and these settings I should be able to get 60 fps wherever I go and whatever happens around me but I dont. This is why I am saying the game needs optimized. I have a $200 video card from 2015. Dont care if an i5 is faster .. the 4.3 ghz 8 core fx processor should me more then enough. I get 60 fps in battlefield (32 person servers with all sorts of stuff happening from helicopters crashing around me to destroyable building collapsing around me) Gw2 does not even have these physics and I cannot get 60 fps. Its the kitten game Gw2 is just not optimized.

From the screenshot he provided it looks like its GPU problem. GTX 960 clocks are about 1200mhz for either memory and core, but his only works at 30-35% power while running gw2. I`d try different/newer driver

FYI, OP, if you haven’t attempted the suggested adjustments found in the post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/PC-FPS-and-Performance-based-issues/first#post338300, I would suggest trying those. These personally helped me maintain a consistently higher FPS with much less frame drops in higher intensity areas, it’s possible it might help you out too.
Furthermore, it’s probably the first thing any official support person would point you towards, so at least try them before knocking on them.

Thanks for helping but I already tried all of that. If a 960 does not make me happy in this game then I will simple not play it. I want all of you to have higher standards… and I want the game to be optimized… this is the only reasons for my thread. No this is a “my system is a tiny God so why am I not maxing at 60 Hz at all times, must be the game” rant thread. Well it is partially the game since in doesn’t really need more than four cores and it’s GPU needs are modest and partially the OP’s rig because the FX-8350 on a per core basis is weak.
AMD messed up and designed a CPU architecture that relied on lots of tiny cores with the assumption that hard core FPU needs would be met by the modern GPU. They guessed wrong about how software was going to be written 5 years in the future (about the time it takes to design a new CPU architecture). The new “Zen” CPU architecture is abandoning the FX architecture for something a lot closer to Intel’s current designs. Coming in late 2016, likely to slip to 2017.

You shouldn’t be lagging even at that FPS or even at 30 FPS. If you’re lagging then something other than your computer hardware and GW2 is the problem.

I want all of you to have higher standards…
I have rather high standard for my games and still play this just fine. I get 50-60 FPS on high/ultra with sweetfx, actually.
and I want the game to be optimized…
The game is only not heavily multithreaded. Otherwise it’s actually rather well optimized. The problem was you bought a CPU with garbage single core performance.

Can’t say I’m sorry to see you go. You’re clearly no Rhodes Scholar if you can’t get GW2 to run decently on your PC. Maybe read a book about PCs or something? Clearly they’re past what you’re capable of handling.

I ran this game on an old opteron 64 , which effetively had 2 Phenom II x4 processors, it ran quite okay, video was a small problem due to the PCI-E 16 was only v1.0 and the CPU clock was limited at 2.3Ghz… could run medium to high at 20-25 FPS anywhere?

Phenom II x4 965 BE @3.4 Ghz
GTX 650 Ti
8GB ram (1600)
35fps in crowded area with worse processor.
Try unlocking cores, set power management to full performance. Instal AMD thing for windows 7 (dunno its name).

My laptop runs a GTX 850M, and gets much better FPS on low settings… because I also run an Intel i7 4710 HQ.
So the solution to your problem is to get away from AMD.

I’m not saying your setup is bad, I’m saying that for GW2 specifically, the CPU is bottle necking your FPS.
I totally agree that GW2 could use a good optimization to support newest technology, but since such a thing won’t happen anytime soon, all we can do is work around it.
Also, many here have a high standard, but at least I won’t quit the game because another game gives me higher FPS count but the gameplay sucks.
Yeesh, my laptop with a much lesser amd cpu and graphics card gets better fps on higher settings than the Op’s. And my desktop is years older with a lesser amd cpu and similar graphics card…..and it runs the game much better than the Op’s computer.
Either something is really messed up, or the OP was running a couple of his single player games at the same time?
And you won’t be missed if something like this causes you to rage quit, especially after all the helpful comments in this thread that you basically respond with “my comp is fine”………uh, well, obviously not……something has to be borked with that sort of pathetic performance with what you supposedly have for a cpu/gpu.

I have a desktop system almost identical to Ragnarox’s…..but with a comparable ATI card……..my laptop specs are much lower(it is just a cheap work laptop with nothing special in it….low end ati gpu and a much slower amd cpu….nothing to write home about)
If the OP is truly getting that kind of fps with those graphical settings in that area that the pic was taken and with that supposed hardware……then something is majorly borked with his/her machine.
Either that or that FX-8350 really sucks. (Makes me glad I have stuck with my oc’ed amd II x4 940 BE for so long)

Same here. After my 940 gives up the ghost, I will probably switch to intel. Unless I can find another lightly used 940 BE(doubtful, as they’re getting harder to find).
Although, I do still like the ATI/AMD gpu video cards.

As most people have figured out over the lifespan of the game, GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors. It runs so much better on an Intel.
And I wouldn’t say it’s all AMD’s fault, as certain processors of theirs that SHOULD be able to handle the game just fine don’t seem to perform very well.
There really is no getting around the fact that GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors and you will almost always get a better performance from an Intel.
FX 8370 have a very horrible single core performance and the GTX 960 is a kitten card with it’s 2 gigs of Vram and 128bits bus. No wonder why the game is running horribly.

Your Core clock and Memory clock is too low. According to Nvidia, it should be 1127MHz and 7GHz, respectively — and you have 405Mhz on both.
You might want to diagnose your setup because your numbers are just wrong.

The game isn’t “horribly optimized for AMD processors”, it just heavily relies on single core performance, which AMD lacks. It’s not anything against AMD, it’s just the way the game is coded and the way that AMD went about building their CPUs.

here is another pic showing different settings and the true power of the gtx 960. The FX processor is just not good for this game. (Forcing me to live with Character Model Limit : Lowest) This is where I ask Arena Net to do better. Once again I can join 32 person servers with crashing helicopters and building and stuff exploding everywhere but I cannot handle more than 10 people on the screen in the game without lags?
