I haven’t played GW2 for a bit now, but a few months ago when I played, I played with high/medium settings. When I tried logging in yesterday, the screen was so choppy I had to change my settings to all low. Even then I only get 5~10 frames per second.

Nothing was changed since I last played few months back. Same hardware, checked for viruses/malware, updated the drivers.

Was there something new added to the game that would cause this?

Look for the culling settings
character limit and detail. adjust to your liking.disable all reflections.

I just lowered the character limit to lowest and its still the same.

Did they upgrade some graphic stuff during the past 6 months?

Yes they changed the culling of players in GW2.
What are your system specs and what settings are you currently using?

Sorry to say this, but it’s a case of “welcome to the club”. The best result I’ve found is to use the -forwardrenderer switch but that’s not perfect and your mileage may vary. If you have a look around the forums, there’s a ton of posts around FPS drops.

Mine started back in July and I’ve tried everything thus far that’s been suggested.

This is an optimisation issue that needs to be addressed by Anet.

Well at least its good to know that I am not the only one so Anet will probably work on a fix.

Fix this Anet, it looks like it’s a common problem.

You can try to delete the local.dat file and see if that helps at all.

Bump

All started with recent patch…

Deleting local.dat doesn’t help, changing culling settings don’t help.
*OC’d CPU and GPU doesn’t help (returned to stock)
*~10-15% cpu usage, 100% usage from both GPUs
*Temps are ~40-45c CPU, ~65-75c GPUs
*Turned off crossfire (windowed) still bad
*All drivers/software up to date
*Switched to SSD from HDD, nothing changed even load time (WTF??)

Anymore info? I’ll provide.

Would you please consider trying this out.

  • Completely close GW2.
  • Ensure you currently have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed for either Internet Explorer or your preferred browser.
  • In the Flash Player settings, disable Hardware Acceleration. The quickest way to do this is to right-click any non-HTML5 YouTube video and click ‘Settings’, and then un-check the ‘Enable hardware Acceleration’ check box on the far left tab.
  • Load your game normally and see if things run smoother for you.

I suggest this because the UI uses Flash and having Hardware Acceleration enabled on the Flash Player can cause serious FPS drops for some players.

If you need a YouTube video to disable this setting, may I suggest this one:

I’m sorry, this did not work for me. I have found out though, my card is only running on x1 instead of x16 like it is supposed to. Currently working on figuring out how to fix.
