Very high ping since 23 June 2015 update
same. :s My ping is constantly changing between 30-600-4000
Same here I also did a tracert of the ip and noticed that it is in fact on Anets times the high ping seems to be occurring in PA for me.
@ mike, im also going through the same thing, played game since launch fine and now since downloading the june 23 patch the game has been pretty much unplayable. Im also in PA.
Same thing for me. It started literally right after I downloaded that patch. Sometimes I activate a skill and it doesn’t go off for a full minute after. Yesterday I tried doing guild missions with my guild and everyone was rubberbanding around. My ping normally stays around 50 and since the patch it sometimes jumps as high as 450. Even if my ping stays at 50 I still have extreme skill delay.

I’ve seen my ping go as high as about 2500 before!! I’m on fibre broadband and never had an issue before last night. The spike lasts a few seconds, often then the NPCs disappear and I lose all health. The only way to make NPCs respawn is to waypoint.

I am also from PA with massive ping spikes. Not constantly but really bad right now.
I have also had spikes in my ping since the update which has been making the game almost unplayable. My ping goes from it’s usual 100-200ish and then it’s like I lag and my actions/interactions/combat freezes, my character jerks forward (or back) similar to rubberbanding and I see other players jerk around too. Once while this was happening I had the setting window open and saw my ping at over 2000! :O
I’ve also died randomly while running near high places because the game thinks I’ve run off them. On my ranger, my pets are standing far away from where I am on screen like they think I’m standing somewhere else. O_o
I only tried to sPvP like this once and it was terrible. At the mo I’m only logging in to do PvE dailies and help out my brothers and friends. I really want to play properly, especially as my best gamer friend has just reinstalled the game and I want to help him out.
I <3 Gw2 Arenanet please reply. Or if it’s being responded to in another post, please direct us there. I’ve never had this problem before. I play on a laptop that can handle gw2 on high graphical settings. The problem remains the same even if I set everything graphically to low. I use wireless BT infinity broadband, but I’ve seen someone using fibre broadband is having the same issue? :s
Okay, I can’t think of any other info to add. Please help.

My ping is usually stable around 200+, connecting from SEA. But since the patch I have been experiencing higher average ping of 300-400+ and spiking at times to 1000+ causing the game to be unplayable(pvp/wvw usually).
Update:
Just did a simple test by switching maps(PvP and WvW) and found out something interesting.
In HotM, and pvp maps, and Yak’s Bend BL:
I get fluctuating, unstable ping of 250-1k+ especially once I start to attack anything(it is really unplayable, my weapon switch, skill use will have a very noticeable delay)
In FA BL, SOS BL and EBG:
My ping is stable and smooth at average 230(which is my usual and very playable, never exceeding 260.)
Can I know why is this happening?
The Obsidian Sanctum map in the FA/YB/SOS match is reportedly giving a lot of players high ping spikes too.

My ping has been fluctuation pretty badly since the patch aswell. I used to average 80-110 on a normal day. Since patch i’ll average at around 250-300 and sometimes spike to 1000-1500 and in some extreme circumstances the game just hangs for 10 seconds at 5000+ ping.
I double checked my firewalls and network settings to confirm nothing is changed and everything is dandy on my end, and internet runs like a boss on downloads and other games aswell. Issue on my end is isolated to GW2.

ANET…….What in gods green earth is going on? You clearly have no L<3ve for the east coast USA…….Ohio here and tonight my goal of reaching rank 70 in pvp has been diminished by your connectivity “issues”. Over 4k ping?!?! Yes over 4 THOUSAND ping…I normally don’t use the forums but enough is enough! I can’t play a pvp match fully. Disconnecting in mid fight is embarrassing. All my computer settings, fire wall, etc are just fine. My bf who is running 2 laptops behind me is doing just fine. My internet is running smoothly. GW2 is ( to put it nicely)complete GARBAGE . You make me want to take my business back to Blizzard…….at least there I know that my pvp experience will be uninterrupted. P.S. Fort Apsenwood Server

I am having the same issue, in central Virginia. I’ve been unable to play for the past 2 days, stuck with skyrocketing ping, disappearing fauna/NPCs, and then death shortly thereafter.
I also have had extremely poor connectivity since the update and put it down to ANETs poor server support. Makes doing spvp or even normal pve stressful and disappointing to say the least. My ping used to be between 40-80, now it can go up to 300+! my ISP has changed nothing so I know it is ANETs fault, but they will do nothing as it would cost them to improve server side when they don’t take a subscription fee like WoW or so on.
I’ve played since launch and this is my first post because since this recent patch the game has become unplayable.
I’m located in SEA and play on FA, mainly wvw and cannot go anywhere near a zerg without the game laggin hard. Average ping is 300-400 while alone. Near other players it will spike to ~1000 constantly and near a zerg it goes 1500+ and is totally unplayable.
I used to be able to play in massive zerg battles with TS going and had no problems.
If you are trying to get rid of customers then mission accomplished!
In WvW right now and my ping is going to over 1200. My usual ping is around 20. Quite unplayable.
I experience this issue as well and it began for me after the June 23rd update. I have noticed it occurs during many different types of gameplay.
Haven’t played wvwvw or pvp in over a week. This is getting really old, game is unplayable and the lack of any kind of response from Anet is a little irritating. Come on Anet this has been going on for awhile now, can you at least tell us you are aware of this problem and are trying to fix it. Or should I be just moving on to FFXIV?
If you haven’t noticed your player base is getting pretty upset at the lack of attention for the connection issues since LAST PATCH. Please do not try and feed us the usual “it could be your ISP, your comp sucks or sorry about your luck- check these settings bro”. Please have your team review this thread on your forums:

A response would be greatly appreciated and a good start. 4k ping in PvP / DCing do not mesh well……..

You really should check with your ISP as a first step. I live in ohio as well, and my ping NEVER exceeds 300-400 unless my ISP service is eating kitten that day, and even then it never exceeds 2k.

Really? Never thought of that, thanks.
I went and looked at the thread that you were demanding Anet to reply to. NOBODY in that thread posted a traceroute to prove that it’s on Anet’s side and not yours.
If you want Anet to fix something, saying there is lag, but not showing the lag in a traceroute so they can see it’s at their side and not somewhere else between you and them, then you need to get that done. Otherwise, they are completely entitled to tell you it’s your computer/ISP etc.
Edit: Since posting, the topic was all merged.

Same issue here was going to start a new thread but this works. My ping will sit right around 60 before patch and after its been horrendous. Jumps up and sits around 100 most of the time and then when it gets really bad it gets up to over 1000 and causes huge lag spikes for me in pvp makes the game incredibly unenjoyable.
Same problem for me and I am from EU (Gandara). I can’t play the game at the moment and just login for the daily reward.
My ping also has a minimum of 300+ and often spikes to 3000+ since the 23th June 2015
I’ve also had really high and unpredictable lag spikes recently. Today’s was the worst, experienced 3 disconnects and a constant ping over 2000 during a Golem MK II fight. I have no idea where else to post this but here’s my traceroute from today:

My client was lagging badly and it was just starting a Breach event in Silverwastes. Most on the map where reporting heavy lag too ,even a guildy on another map.
But when i logged out client crashed with leaks detected in client. So i sent a report off to ANET.
After the 23 June Patch is almost impossible to play…
I take around 10m to load in every map I swap… after that the games takes forever to load the info, objects, other players, etc…
On wvw, its almost impossible to port between maps because it is impossible to keep up with out is happening!
Anet please fix this, or else you will start to loose gamers, not to mention the sales for the next expansion!!!
Its not your ISP.
I’m in Europe, and I have the exact same issues since the 23rd.
Where:
Bloodtide Coast – Triple Trouble – Jaleko? Waypoint (Cobalt Wurm)
When:

Fort-Aspenwood
Issue:
Ping spiked to 600, FPS to 10… turned graphics to best performance still unplayable with no change. Literal slide show then everything froze for 2 minutes and then went super speed.
Tried mapping out to Orr and ping was “okay” standing at waypoint at 50 then spiked to 200+ without moving after 1-2minutes so I decided to close the game to restart but client is not responding now. Never had graphic issues or connection issues THIS bad before, hardly ever feel latency or graphic issues.

Just to add, I’m having the same issue.
Tested my broadband connection and everything is running slick.
In gw2, however, 50-500 and fluctuates as high as 1200.
It’s very frustrating and makes pvp unplayable… My favourite game mode.

Managed to fix things mostly at my end finally! After three weeks of almost no playtime.
Updated the hell out of the wireless drivers on my brother’s laptop. Everything seems to be running fine now. (What doesn’t help is he swore everything was up to date and I didn’t really want to tamper with his machine). :P
Anyone who is still having this problem, please check that your drivers are up to date whether you’re wireless or not. I guess it was coincidence that the June23rd update happened around the same time new drivers came out? :s
I hope this helps people!
A response from Anet would have still been appreciated, but I understand they’ve had their hands full…

mind providing info on how to check if wireless drivers are up to date?
I’m not sure if my issue started with the june 23rd patch specifically, because it seemed to be fine then, but, 3-4 days ago I started having horrible lag (only gw2) and disconnects.

I’d like to add to this. Few days ago I started having random spikes. At first it seems fine but then a very short but annoying delay is added whenever I use a skill. Sometimes it’s around 3 to 4 seconds before a skill activates. Ping is average around 70-80 but occasionally I see spikes up to 250. I’ve tried to eliminate all problems on my end and haven’t found anything out of the ordinary.
