Hello guys, i recently got a new laptop which i planned to use for playing gw2.
So lets go straight to the point.
I have Nvidia Geforce GTX 765m, i7-4700MQ, 8GB ram.
During WvWvW, i set my graphics to best performance then set my character model and quality to medium.
When im alone with no one (at spawn), i get 70-100fps, but when im moving around with the zerg i get around 25-40 fps, when theres zerg fights i normally get 15-20 fps.
So i want to know what is affecting my fps? how can i improve it? thanks in advance for helping me find out how to improve my fps, i appreciate it a lot.
If u guys need more details about my laptop, feel free to ask me for more information. thanks again for helping me

Set model limit to low, quality to medium and render distance at low with everything else at high and you should be fine. Model limit is the most important setting in WvW. Rendering too many models will cause your GPU to go crazy. Especially since it’s a laptop GPU and has no good cooling system.

I run an older i7 2600k with a GTX 580 and have to use those settings to keep zerg fights playable and not crash my computer. I usually just use the “best performance” setting to make it easier for myself, changing back to auto-detect when I’m in PvE land.

i tried setting it on best performance but the fps is about the same as usual. is there any other factor that is affecting my fps?

Shadows should also effect fps slightly. When a zerg veils into you anything that effect character models will drop your fps. That is 30 shadows that will pop up whenever a zerg appears. You can try to lower that setting.

i already envy your fps during zerg fights. i’m on an old dual core and it drops to less than 10 usually on big zergs.

Laptops are terrible for gaming, A high end alienware will still suck compared to a mid end desktop pc.

Hate to say it, this is perfectly normal for this game.

15-25FPS is the best you can expect to have while playing around a ‘zerg’ of other players.

I’m a little confused as to why no one is telling you what you are experiencing is normal.
If you are seeing 20 ish fps during a zerg vs zerg situation then you are currently experiencing wvw at its best.
No one is getting more than 20-30 fps during a zerg vs zerg. If someone tells you otherwise, they are lying to you.

there are some things you can do software wise to improve your frames by a small amount and make game play a little smoother.
If your interested pm me.

Perfectly normal im affraid. The only way one gets higher Zerg v Zerg fps is by verclocking their CPU. Since ur running a laptop thats is usualy impossible and always unwise.

GW2 isnt a very optimised game when it comes to dealing with large numbers of people in one place. Even top end desktops have to suffer the obismaly low fps, usualy around 20.

A laptop with 4930MX could probably get you 20-25. That’s as high as it will go, even for a desktop.

The game becomes CPU bound around other lots of other players. That’s the reason for your drop in frame rate.

If you do the math, to get 60FPS in a Fully Queued Map Zerg, you would need a CPU clocked at 12Ghz. And I doubt that then, you would get 60FPS.

Not necessarily, no processor currently can handle what GW2 demands. I think this is a problem of the game code rather than the CPUs since some games do run with 100+ players on screen. You couldn’t have spent your money any better if you needed to buy a laptop to begin with.
