Guild Wars 2

Whenever I tried to open the game after a patch (within the last 2 months, broad window, I know…) the launcher would start alright and following the loader a white screen would pop up for all of 2 seconds and then do the ‘minimize’ animation and would just be in my taskbar but I couldn’t get the window to show again. The character selection music was playing but there was no way I could get GW2 to open on my screen. I eventually got it to work using the command to make it into full-screen mode (right alt + enter I think?) and the game has been fine running like that. Yet still any time I try to put it into windowed mode I still lose my guild wars.

I know this should have been reported right away but I figured it would solve itself after a patch or 2 (even tried repairing it and it doesn’t fix it)

I have this issue as well. I can right-click and select “maximize” to display GW2 in full screen, but windowed mode does not work as intended.
The issue appeareared a month or two ago.

This just started happening to me today out of the blue. Oddly last night was just fine in windowed mode, went to bed (leave computer running), no updates, didn’t install any new drivers, so as far as I know nothing changed.
I actually logged in a few times to check mail and TP stuff, everything was working fine, logged out to get some work done then this started occurring to me:
– Start the launcher
– It checks for updates
– Login
– Click the ‘Play’ button
– The game window shows for a split second then vanishes

Any attempt to click on the icon in the task bar didn’t show the game. Shutting everything down, rebooting the PC, and running just the game didn’t resolve the issue.
I didn’t know about the <right click>/maximize option, so deleted the GW2.dat and re-installing the game, which will default it to full screen, so I am guessing I will be fine after the download.

I am on Win7 HomePro 64bit, running NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 with the latest drivers, duel monitors.

I really don’t want to run full screen so hopefully there is an answer.

Minimizing like this usually happens when another program window grabs focus from the game.
