I change nothing but for some reason it says it says it cant connect to a log in server most likely cause by firewall.

Why does it work sometimes and most of the time it doesnt?

I am actually having the same issue.

I flushed out my DNS
Checked for blocked programs on my firewall
Rebooted computer
Checked launcher arguments for any strange additions to the bootup
Reset my router

Everything works network wise minus GW2 launcher at the moment.

edit:

Saw I can run a -diag argument, so proceeding with that now. Maybe there is a downed ISP somewhere that I just happen to reach, but that should at least tracert it…maybe?

Diag kicked this section out, yet when I individually tracert/pinged these locations it was successful ?

Still unable to log in after about 2 hours, will try again tomorrow

Ive been able to get to character select screen 3 times since i posted this. Everytime i pick a character to play with it says a serious error has occurred. I dont know if its the patch or what but this is not fun.

i have the same problem, but i login form hotels and i change hotel mostly everyday; whenever i try to connect from a new hotel connection i do Authorize log-in attempt? and i always works is there any chance because of that or ?

i can’t login either, sometimes i reach the character selection but then the map doesn’t load
at the same time i’m having problems with every part of the gw2 site, so i guess it’s some problem on their side..?

Same exact problem here. Yesterday I was experiencing extremely high ping, today I try to log in and it won’t let me. When I manage to log-in I only get to the Character Selection screen, then the map doesn’t load.

i have the same problem. I can’t connect! i can log in the characters selection but i dont log in the game

I am also having this problem. Same error code as someone else posted in here the 4418. My suspicions is that its on anet’s side since I’ve reset my router, everything else works and I have no problems logging into other mmos.

Well just got a chance to try again and it works now for me. It seemed like some hops were timing out on my tracert, so it may have just been a wan thing and not the anet/ncsoft servers?

I can’t log in aswell.

I’m in Italy, Padua, EU. Had this issue since 17:00 GMT+1.

I’m in italy too. I wonder if it’s a telecom italia problem with the game :/
My connection seems fine, all the websites i tried work fine except for the guildwars2 one (even the forum seems to take a lot to load from time to time) and obviously the game itself
I just tried to login again, i managed to enter the game and load the map but skills don’t work and both the friend lists and the guild tab are “empty” saying there might be either a server problem or a connectivity problem

Italy too here, some other italian friends have the same problem while others do not.

I’m using Telecom Italia.

im in washington so distance isnt the problem. I could literally drive to there HQ in 30 min

It wasn’t a matter of distance so much as of an italian internet provider having severe issues at the same time the gw2 log-in started acting up. As for today, I have yet to experience any issue, let’s hope it stays this way.

Having same problem, error code 42:0:9001:4418 i have tried everything and nothing has helped
