Q:
I already submitted a ticket for this but just to let everyone know heres the details:
A detailed description of the issue that you’re experiencing:
I cannot access anything in the blacklion trading company window ingame.
It just shows a blank page with nothing on it.
This includes:
Gem Store
Currency Exchange
Transaction history
Trading Post (I know there are still issues with trading post but even if it is up it still shows nothing on my screen)
and all the tabs in there except the claiming of items.
This black lion trading windows works fine on my other computer which is a windows7 but not on my desktop which is a winxp sp3.
I have attached screencaps and the gamevisor txt file also aranet log.
I have tried the following TS steps:
*Run gw2.exe as admin
*made sure disabled compatibility mode of gw2.exe
*I disabled all startup process
*AVG and windows firewall is turned off
and this still doesnt fix the problem.
Any error code that you are getting: Nothing at all

Guys try this if you are on WinXP SP3, I posted it on the merged bug forum but it’s 17 pages in and you have to wade through numerous posts of people saying they didn’t get their glasses or that they don’t care for the font… To me the priority should be getting the Trading Post/Gem store to at least come up for everyone first, though I understand they are trying to consolidate and manage numerous issues.
If you are on WinXP SP3 go to Control panel/Add Remove Programs and Add/Remove Components on the left side of the screen.
Click it and scroll to near the bottom and find Update Root Certificates. If it’s unchecked..CHECK it and click Ok.
Load up the game and go to Gem Store/Trading post and wait (about 10 seconds for me). This FINALLY fixed the blank bug.
Again this is for WinXP SP3, if you have Vista or Win7 I can’t help you, but it’s something worth looking into if nothing else has worked
I’ve had blank screens since launch on the Black Lion Trading Company and this is the only thing that fixed it for me. To be fair, I got the idea from something that was said by an Admin/mod on that page but nevertheless it worked for me.

I am having the same problem. All BLTD windows are blank. I have also tried running Gw2.exe as an administrator, made sure compatibility mode was disabled, did a repair on my client, and I have all firewalls/antivirus programs disabled.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
This has been an issue for me since launch. It has never worked.

Good to know I’m not the only one.
I tried all the above things too, nothing works.
Here are some additional problems I have, some maybe at least minimaly helpfull in this case:
- when i try to login into my account here, on the site, all I get is blank page (only when using firefox, chrome works, but has some problem with ssl, certificate probably).
- every time game patches, I’m getting an error, (can’t remember exactly what, can add detail when it happens again). To overcome this, I have to do a little trickery: delete gw2.exe, change gw2.tmp to gw2.exe, after this game patches normaly.
Hope any of this may be somehow helpfull (I would guess it’s something with web browser, I think the whole BLTC works as some kind of browser but that’s just a guess).

Same exact problem here. I have not been able to see anything at all since I downloaded the client.

Fixed it, it was as simple as making sure your date and time are correct. If they are not it cannot connect to the server.
right click the calender in the bottom right hand corner and set the correct date and time.

Same issue, date/time fix didn’t help as my time/date is correct. This is some serious BS, not even a not from dev’s they are aware of this, I had gem tab access first day of 3 day early launch. Since then nothing but blank tabs.
UPDATE: Tried a few times to launch as admin gw2.exe and no go. Then I set the properties on the desktop shortcut to “run this program as admin” and launched it asks to confirm you want to launch as admin hit yes and poof I get in game and can see TP all tabs.

I can confirm that running the game as administrator (by clicking “Run as Admin” from properties) has made the Trading Post work for me.

1. Reinstall client multiple times
2. Disable firewall
3. Disable antivirus
4. Update gfx driver
5. Run game as admin
and i still have that orange loading circle on ALL TABS. nothing shows up. My entire GW2 experience is kittened because of this. I cant trade, cant buy gems. Seriously need a solution

For Windows Vista, 7 and 8 OS users the best work around is to Run the program as admin and disable compatibility mode by right-clicking the gw2.exe and selecting those options.
If this doesnt work for you then your only option is to keep on sending tickets and emails to aranet/ncsoft…
Now for WINXP Sp3 users – THERE ARE NO KNOWN FIX YET! so you know what to do….tickets and email make sure u give them all they want to know such as the game visor report etc…
At the moment im still dead in the water, still doesnt work for me!
Last email they sent was to make sure I have deleted my old drivers and install a fresh one which took me more than an hour to do and the result is still in vain!!! doing this actually made me more depress…
I believe the problem is not with us, everything works fine, im running the game and playing it fine except for this one problem. so its obviously not an issue with the specs of my computer, I have met the minimum requirements and and made sure everything is good before I purchased this game with my hard-earned money.
I am not the only one having problem, so its not an isolated case, The problem is with game itself. So please someone do something about this….or else…

No point in giving me your gold as I would just have to share it with Cliff Spradlin, the mod/admin from the merged thread haha.

“What operating system are you running? You need to be running Windows XP SP2 or above for the trading post to work, due to SSL root certs not being automatically updated in previous versions.”
This was enough to get the cogwheels turning in my mind to figure out what the problem was, at least for some of us. I’m just happy if it helps anyone else as I have gone completely and utterly insane trying to fix that since launch.

Just wanted to add that checking Update Root Certificates seems to have fixed another smaller problem I had as well, which was that each time there was a new build, the launcher would start to download them stop and throw an error. I was having to delete Gw2.exe each time and renaming Gw2.tmp as Gw2.exe before it would download properly. But just now, I was able to download the new build without error.
I suggest adding the Update Root Certificates check-box instructions to any FAQ about WinXP and Guild Wars 2 for future reference.

Root certificate update did the trick for some reason thank you very much wanderer. The funny thing is I had the 10135kb error since release AND black lion trading would never load. All I did was start internet explorer once and for some reason its working now.

NEW SOLUTION MY TP WORKS
Cliff Spradlin.3512:
Hi,
Thanks to skagrin, I have a new solution for people who are unable to load the trading post. I’ve tested this on a Windows XP VM here to make sure it works, but haven’t done much.
The theory is that the root certs on your computers are not up to date. Follow these steps to update them:
1. Close the game client
2. Download and run http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
3. You’ll probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear. But that’s OK, your root certs have now been updated.
4. Open the game client and try to access the trading post
If you haven’t been able to load the trading post at all, try these steps. If this works for you, I’ll ask our customer service team to write up more formal documentation on this procedure.

I know this thread is 3 months old, but the root certificate update is what worked for me and it took me a few days to find this posting. SOOO, i hope the moderators find it in their hearts to add the solutions here to the STICKY’s.
I would recommend one additional step for completeness sake. I saw some one mention previously to update the root certificates. An easy way to do this is by doing an UPDATE of the windows o/s, and once on their update site, choose a CUSTOM scan. In the list that will follow you may see a root certificate UPDATE for December of 2012. Install that update, and I would recommend the .NET framework as well.
This has not only fixed the problem (or seems to have fixed the issue, for the last several logins) to have fixed the ERROR 7 issues I had (error code 7:1000:7006:375) which prevented me from logging in, and the BLANK game screens (ie: Black Lion Trading Company windows) which prevented me from using the trading post.
The .NET and Root Certificates update the database for secure connections and network traffic. This makes sense since both of the above mentions issues would use some kind of SSL or other secure technology to protect the datastream for login and secure trading through the game.
