let me start counting for lowest c that would handle this game on around 45-60 fps in pve and spvp.
So
i3-3220 – 120$
CPU cooling – from 35-100++$
mobo – 50$
memory – ~70$
graphic card ~200$
powersupply ~150$
case ~25-50$
operating system ~100$
speakers + keyboard + mouse ~150-200$
Monitor ~150$
thats around 900-1000$. it’s not 100% sure value. i’ve made this according to prices in Poland for minimum rig.
and thats stuff that allows u to play at 1680×960 or so with graphic med/high ( not ultra ) with avg 45 FPs in pve & spvp ( not counting WvW and mass eveents where fps drop to 15 on that rig ).
So if u want to get “new” rig with almost all stuff new i’d advise you to get at least 1300-1500$ to get good stuff that will last at least for 2-4 years including:
Extreme series mobo
I5 processor ( 2500k/3570k )
an 7870 Ati Radeon / gtx 570/gtx 660 ti at least
good and fast ram.
Very good power supply for Overclock.
Good case to keep you pc cool and good CPU cooling.
and so on.
So if u want to spend silly ~600$ amount for all that stuff don’t bother. youll be just disappointed.
Same stuff goes for an laptop if u’d ask in close future.
a 600$ laptop won’t make this game run good. with mine worth around 960$ im getting 30-40 fps on low/mid sett in pve. Spvp or wvw are barely playable.

Why would add CPU cooling to a i3 the stock cooling would do fine.
How about this looks good and should be very playable. $570 or so after the $10 rebate. Not maxed setting of course but mid with the eye candy turned off.
The case only comes with one fan so added anouther and the 300Watt PSU should be fine for a PC that will draw about 150 Watts http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009314

200$ for speakers keyboard and mouse? You know how to cut cost 50$ for a motherboard? Better to spend the money on the motherboard then speakers and keyboards. And like the other poster said why waste money on a cooler for an i3 at stock when it can be spent on other things.
You can find $10 mouse and $25 keyboard lol. Logitech / MS brands. Looks for liquidation center or on sales in local electronic stores.
Yea. Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 @ staples for $29.99 BF sale.

I would recommend getting a second hand pc for that money from an elitist who’s upgrading. Should work just fine. Make sure you have at least 4gb ram, quad-core cpu and a 2 years old graphics card and your game will run just fine. I’m also sure you have a windows xp license somewhere, there is absolutely no reason to “upgrade” if you don’t want to.
While cutting costs, I do recommend to avoid AMD and Ati at all costs. Not because they’re bad but rather because nvidia and intel have far more agressive support campaigns and lots of games have issues with perfectly fine cpus and gpus from AMD/ATi. That’s a pity but intel has money and uses is in a dirty way.

Be sure you know this “elitist” since buying second hand pc is just like getting a used car, YMMV & problems might be hidden.
But with Blackfriday deals all over the place its more fun building yourself and might be just as cheap or cheaper.

Your going to like that, are you running the game with the duel monitors or game on 1 and other things on the other if so how does the 660 handle it.
I just bought anouther 6970 from a friend for $175 to Xfire, got my other 2x 24" monitors in today from the EGG (already took the bezels off), waiting on my 3 monitor stand to come in tomorrow so the UPS tracking number says.
I think I’m finally through upgrading for a while.
i5 2500k @ 4.4 can run it 100% stable @5.0
16GB 2133 ram down clocked to 2000 for tighter timings
2x 6970’s @950/1425
Corsair c70 Case with all the LED fans and lights.
64 and 256GB Samsung 830 SSD’s 1TB CB HDD
Corsair H100 CPU cooler with 4x 110 CFM fans push/pull
3x Acer 24" 1080p monitors and a 22" Panasonic HD TV for side programs.
I run the game on one monitor and the second monitor is just to display my other stuff like chats/videos. GTX660 handles gw2 fine @ best appearance setting. I cap the fps at 60 so GPU load rarely goes over 50%.
