Guild Wars 2

I’m shopping for a new laptop and I want to get a laptop that will allow me to play GW2 at its best. ( or the best that I can afford)

I only have a modest knowledge of computers so I was hoping that those more versed in them would offer their opinions on which specifications are most essential for exemplary performance.

Also, I have a limited budget not to exceed $1000 and I will have to rely on financing offers.

In any event, considering my budget and my limited knowledge, I believe that the best I could afford in a laptop is the following:

-8 GB Ram
-Intel i7 (perhaps the 3630QM)
-17.3" Display
-Geforce GT 650M

Most of the other details such as # of USB 3.0 ports or what optical drive it comes with are much less of a concern. Also, finding out what GPU a laptop comes with is a bit harder than it looks since a lot of sites list only CPU specs.

Please let me know what you think, perhaps what you operate and how well (or badly) it performs.

CPU is more important in GW2 than the GPU. $1000 laptop won’t allow you to play GW2 at max settings (more like medium), but a desktop 2/3 the price would easily be able to. Go desktop if portability is not a “must have” thing.

Aye what Kirito said is 100% correct.

i will note that $1000 is the starting price for proper gaming laptops, u may get them cheaper if they are on sale but you will be using every penny of that $1000 if u truly want a gaming laptop.

I personaly sugest the following.

CPU: 3720QM, 3820QM, 3630QM ( you bassicaly NEED the best mobile cpu out for GW2, even then you will bottleneck in WvW, so get the best u can, higher the turbo clock the better)

GPU: AMD 7970m, Nvidia 675M, Nvidia 670m, or Nvidia 570m. This will allow u to play on a mixture of Medium & High settings with good fps.

In the end though if you can, i highly sugest a Desktop…but if you absolutly must have Laptop, the above specs would be recommended.
