Guild Wars 2

Hello Everyone,

I need help. I just re-installed windows on my computer about a month ago and I’m trying to re-install guild wars 2. When I run the installer from the disc it gets to about a certain download amount and then just dies. I try again and it might get a bit higher in amount or it might end at a smaller amount, it’s always a different amount though when the download just dies. I’ve tried using the web client download and it just does the same thing.

Some of the guides I’ve read trying to fix the issue say try to rename the application to gw2.exe, move the file into the program folder, run it as administrator, and what not, and still nothing. I’ve also run MSCONFIG and disabled service and boot programs.

I also ran the GameAdvisor, and nothing out of the ordinary is popping up.

My current computer specs are:
GPU: GeForce GTX 680
Driver Version: 335.23
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
Memory: 16.00 GB RAM (15.90 GB Usable)
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit.

I could really use the help please.

i have been having the same issue…I cannot download the game using the web installer. This is very frustrating

Same problem here, the download is crap as well, the best I got was 128KB/sec and then it just drops to 0.0KB/ps and sits there. Just got a new PC so I am re-installing all my stuff. This is the only thing to give me any trouble.

Are the servers crapped out?

i have been trying off and on for days. Whats going on arenanet?

I too am having issues downloading the game. Here are the specs on my PC: Windows 7 x64, AMD FX 6300 Six-Core, 16 gigs RAM, and a AMD Radeon R9 200 Series w/ 3 gigs of DDR 5 RAM. Can You Run It says my PC is in the 91st percentile. I also went to Speed Test NET. It says I am getting download at 2.87.

I am getting this same issue. The installer just stops at random. I installed Windows through boot camp to get away from all the Mac bugs, and I’m faced with this. Rather frustrating. (“eek, a Mac!” I know, I’m not a hardcore gamer, so I just get by on what I can use)

Specs:
2012 Macbook Air w/ 8GB ram.
High end model.

am having this same issue, tried downloading the client and, following all the advice about connectivity (up to and including disabling everything on the pc to see if something was sucking bandwidth in the background)

first off the download is crazy slow when it is working 15 – 30kb/sec and then it just randomly craps out stops and get the red text of doom " connection error(s) – retrying…"
has been retrying for like 20 minutes now and no change.

Hopefully they solve this issue soon amazing how this pops up shortly after they go live in China…..

I’m having the same issue. I uninstalled until I got a job and now that I have one I want to play again and can’t. “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” is all I keep getting. It’s very frustrating.

Guys. there’s a sticky for this. You may need to temporarily disable your firewall until the “Install Guild Wars 2” buttons appears on the installer.

Was having the same problem, but was updating instead of installing.

I changed GW2.exe’s Compatability settings to “Always Run As Administrator” and everything worked fine after that.

Not sure if it was just a coincidence or not, but the connectivity sticky does mention setting GW2.exe to “Always Run As Administrator” so you might want to try that.

-edit- By “work fine” I mean I don’t get stuck at 0.0 KB/s any more. The servers seem to be very slow. I’m getting about anywhere from 7 KB/s to 70 KB/s. I have a 25mbps/25mbps fiber connection, so I should be able to get up to get up to 25,600 KB/s, theoretically, but easily near a MB/s in real-world settings, not the 50 KB/s I’m now getting.

I don’t have the firewall up, still having this issue. Same exact computer and programs as the last time when I installed it just about a month ago.

Having same problem. Been trying to install game for last 6 days. Download stops and then nothing. Even tried installing with disk version, still nothing. Have tried all suggestions found on forums and in support. If I hadn’t already invested the coin I’d give up but, man, this game looks like it could be addicting.
