After Starting up GW2 this past Saturday the game client went into its normal update phase. After Downloading for about 10 seconds I get the message “Conneciton Error(s) Detected. Retrying…” I let the client sit on that screen for about an hour after I tried to restart the client and getting the same message. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall with the GW2 cd, It will get to about 80 percent and then I will get the same message. I have all the proper ports forwarded -80, 443, 6112 and 6600. I have never had a problem launching GW2 untill this, I play everyday with no problems.
Anyone else experiencing this problem in the last few days since friday’s update? Is there a fix to it that anyone is aware of?

check if the client is allowed through your firewall.
I have had a game that was previously allowed through firewall that lost its firewall exception for no reason.

I have allowed GW2 threw my firewall, I’ve even tried to DL the client update with Firewall disabled. I’m still getting the same thing it will get to 42kb downloaded every time then give me the same connection error msg.
did it give you a specific error code?

I did a little research on another forum; others that are having the same issue say it is just downloading very slow. I don’t think the client is actually losing connection, but it is running low on bandwidth from high traffic. Unfortunately this is a server-side problem that you can’t do anything about.
the only suggestion I have now is to just let the client run until it eventually finishes downloading.

Thanks for your help, I guess I will let it stay on the connection error screen over night and see what happens. Will report back here with the out come.
I too am facing the same issue and honestly it’s getting on my nerves. I don’t play GW2 as often as I would like as I have a very limited amount of free time but when I do get the time to play there’s usually an update. For the past few weeks I’ve been getting Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…
I know they don’t make as much money off subscribers as other mmorpg games but you’d think they’d make enough to have a decent server for updates. They should allow people to host a mirror for the updates or something if the costs are too much for them to handle server upgrades =/

Could I get an update on this please? It’s happening to me now too and I was wondering if waiting eventually solved the problem. I’ll probably leave it running while I go to bed, but very curious
