im getting 50ish kb/sec now instead of 0/kb so i think its getting better

well i was able to down the Bazofthe4winds this morning fine n logged off, but after coming back, the new patch is not showing any signs of downloading. it’s not my internet because i can surf the web just like normal n i can play another mmo game on the web just fine. so deductive reasoning points the finger at the new patch this afternoon?

I believe I found the problem.
Look at your router’s firewall.
The address is 192.168.1.254.

Go to Firewall→Enter Device Code→ Change these firewall settings.

My settings were:
Drop packets with invalid source or destination IP address: On
Protect against port scan: On
Drop packets with unknown ether types: On
Drop packets with invalid TCP flags: On
Detect and drop packet floods: Off

I changes the settings to:
Drop packets with invalid source or destination IP address: Off
Protect against port scan: On
Drop packets with unknown ether types: Off
Drop packets with invalid TCP flags: Off
Detect and drop packet floods: Off

Restarted the patch and it worked fine.

I would suggest changing settings back to original after the patch though.

I didn’t change any settings and my download just worked. I also happened to link this thread to AT&T Customer Support around 10 minutes ago. Wonder if it’s a coincidence. Either way, it finally seems to be resolved.

got uverse here and everything started to work about 10mins ago

I think the problem was fixed. I am now able to re-install GW2. I did not change any of my settings. Let’s wait and see. =/

got it working. turns out i just needed to restart my computer

U-verse – bay area California here.
Problem happened 3 days ago, then fixed itself later in the evening.

Started again today, with the new patch.

Makes me wonder if AT&T sees the GW2 patcher as some kind of illegal torrent transfer or something. Either way, what a horrible service. Wish I had other options other than AT&T, they have been horrible from the start.

i just bought and installed GW2 for the first time. The game installed fine, but now im donwloading a ton of patch files and im having the same problems that everyone in this thread is talking about. in addition to slow download speeds, the download slows all the way to 0.00kbs/sec every few minutes and takes forever to resume, if it resumes at all. it has been like this for three days. i am getting very frustrated please help me arena net!!!

Some 17 thousand files are apparently in need of download, yet the launcher is stuck at 0.00kB/s and doesn’t bugde at all. Tried to disable all my firewalls and still no reaction. Problems logging in into the launcher as well, mostly it hangs and stops responding, forcing me to kill the process, resulting in a archive scan upon next boot before trying, and failing, to download any patches.
I once succeeded loggin in, but still no patch began downloading, still 0.00 speed.
Baffled at the problem. Have experienced slow patching before, when it took a while for it to pick up speed, but it’s dead in the water here.

Is it the servers? I fail to see what’s wrong on my end?

Have you disabled all your security measures like firewalls antivirus or at least add the game to the exceptions list. In your AV. Some people have had to completely uninstall their AV to get the game to download or patch. Also make sure the game is running in administrator mode.

Did as you suggested. Didn’t uninstall my AV though, merely disabled it, and ran it as admin. Seemed to work at first; could log in and the download started. When I checked on it 10 mins later it had stopped Had downloaded some 31 MB of some patch at least.

What AV are you using if it’s Norton or Mcgaffees just get rid of it and get the free version of Avast or Windows Security Essentials works well to. Also, I hate to say it but you may need to do a clean install of Windows to get the game to run this is what most people with your issue has done an it solved it not sure why this is but there is something going on that’s blocking the download and a clean install of windows will fix this. Since you might have to reinstall windows now the time to get a Solid state hard drive, if you don’t have one. SSDs are really cheap and reliable under $100 for 120g drive plenty of room for windows and the game, this will improve load times when in the game and zoning times as well.

Using NOD32, never given me any trouble before. SSD would be nice indeed, but that will have to wait until I’ll get me a proper desktop PC; laptops are a hassle to upgrade :P
I’ll start with a reinstall of the game, but I’m not desperate enough for a gw2 play yet to wipe the OS.
