Guild Wars 2

Hello,

I just tonight purchased and started the download for Guild Wars 2. I downloaded the electronic installer from https://account.guildwars2.com/account/download/win

file name gw2setup.exe

When I run it, it immediately starts downloading, at approximately 100kbps, quickly throttling down until it reaches 0. I can get to around 250kb downloaded before it does this. Note at this point, I believe it is downloading some necessary file because I haven’t even specified game install location, or accepted any tos, or anything.

It will at this point have small jumps every 10 seconds or so, downloading another 2-3 kb before going back to a rate of 0 kbps.

I’ve tried closing my antivirus, which is also my firewall, after adding the installer to the exception list did not resolve the issue. Issue persists despite closing antivirus/firewall. I’ve tried looking for others with a similar issue but no real resolutions have cropped up in threads that I’ve read with similar circumstances, people for some reason thinking it has to do with video drivers being out of date, mine however are updated.

I’m not really sure what step I should take next here, I don’t really want to go through hours of trial and error to get this thing to a point where it will download at a rate where I can expect it to finish within the year. If there is any advice for how I can proceed to get this in working order I would really appreciate it.

While of course it could be an issue with my internet service, I regularly get 1-2 mbps from other platforms’ downloading services, and tonight on steam is no exception to this(I did have steam closed for this install, however). My modem was already restarted as well as my computer. Really hoping to get some help!
