OK, so apparently a lot of people are getting this error. The game runs normally for 30min-1h, or even more and then just crashes with an error report or a BSOD.
I’ve experienced the same thing on a brand new high-end PC and I’ve tried all the tips and hints you can currently find on the internet.
1. Run memtest – Sure, this will show you if your memory modules are faulty, but in most cases (including mine), all ram modules are just fine and the game still keeps crashing
2. check your drivers – yup, another classic. but my drivers are all up-to-date since i bought my PC like 3 days ago
3. check the PS and make sure it has enough power to run all your components. the PSU is often an overlooked component and can lead to system crashes if it’s overloaded
4. Are any other games crashing or just GW2? If you get errors and BSODs in other games then you might be having hardware issues after all. If only GW2 crashes – then read on!
I’ve tried this on several different specs and on several versions of windows (XP, win7 32 and 64bit) and in every case it actually helped!
First – check how many RAM modules you have and make sure they’re not mixed pairs (always use same brand and same latency modules for your RAM). Then check what’s the frequency they run on and the latencies. (use Speccy or CPU-Z)
Even though RAM i have declares it can run on 1600Mhz (DDR3), and I manually set them to run at that speed – it was this BIOS feature that was causing the problem. Check your RAM SPD clocks and make sure your BIOS is set at that speed.
What happens is that (i guess) GW2 tries to allocate a specific memory address that doesn’t get allocated in time since your motherboard is forcing different RAM speed
After configuring all the RAM clocks in BIOS manually – GW2 runs perfectly with no crashes at all.
Still… It’s interesting how this affects only GW2 and not a single other game I have on my PC (for example – Skyrim, Diablo 3 and WoW run just fine for example)
Hopefully this helps someone

Try running a “chkdsk /r”. You can do so by going to the command prompt and doing this upon next boot. Try reseating the memory as well. Let me know and we’ll go from there.

Ive had the same issue, and it normally is random and all the time when i dye armor. New Nvidia drivers might be the cause, as everything was fine till i updated. Neither of those things helped.
